During his campaign to secure the 2020 Democrat presidential nomination, Joe Biden infamously told the leftist co-hosts of ABC’s The View that, “from the beginning,” he believed Anita Hill’s unsubstantiated allegations of sexual harassment against now-Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas.
“Not only didn’t I vote for Clarence Thomas, I believed [Hill] from the beginning. I was against Clarence Thomas, I did everything in my power to defeat Clarence Thomas and he won by the smallest margin anyone ever won going on the Supreme Court,” Biden said in the 2019 interview.

Senate Democrats voted Thursday to block the annual, full-year Defense appropriations bill, despite the measure passing out of committee with strong bipartisan support earlier this year.
The vote is the latest sign of deteriorating bipartisan relations on Capitol Hill as the government shutdown drags into a third week.
The Senate voted 50-44 against proceeding to the bill after Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) objected to considering the Defense spending bill without also voting on the annual Labor, Health and Human Services appropriations bill. It needed 60 votes to advance.

President Donald Trump on Thursday warned Hamas “we will have no choice but to go in and kill them” if internal bloodshed persists in Gaza.
The grim warning from Trump came after he previously downplayed the internal violence in the territory since a ceasefire and hostage deal between Israel and Hamas went into effect last week in the two-year war.
Trump later clarified he won’t send U.S. troops into Gaza after launching the threat against Hamas.
“It’s not going to be us,” Trump said in an exchange with reporters. “We won’t have to. There are people very close, very nearby that will go in and they’ll do the trick very easily,

Following what Volodymyr Zelensky called “productive” telephone calls with Donald Trump, the U.S. and Ukrainian presidents will be meeting in Washington on Friday. We can assume that Zelensky will be wearing something akin to a suit and that the agenda will involve more than pleasantries. Since meeting Trump in Alaska, Vladimir Putin has made a mockery of the president’s attempts to broker a peace deal. Russia’s offensive in the Donbas grinds on, and Russia recently changed the law to allow reservists to perform “defensive tasks” in Ukraine, a provision that will undoubtedly be interpreted broadly. Despite denials from Havana,

Sixty percent of young liberals say it is “acceptable to go beyond peaceful protest in response to immigration raids conducted by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE),” according to a survey by Cygnal. 42 percent of liberals said it was acceptable to go beyond peaceful protest even if that meant breaking the law,” said a press statement from Virginia-based Cygnal, which added: “The number jumps to 60 percent of liberals under the age of 30. Liberals are shockingly okay with breaking the law to go against government action they don’t agree with, like ICE raids,” said Cygnal President and pollster, Brent Buchanan. He continued:

Passengers at airports in Pennsylvania and British Columbia were stunned Tuesday when loudspeakers suddenly blasted pro-Hamas messages and slurs against President Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Videos posted by travelers showed the unauthorized recordings echoing through terminals at Harrisburg International Airport in Pennsylvania and Kelowna International Airport in Canada.
Screens at Kelowna also flashed messages praising Hamas and urging “Free Palestine,” according to officials and witnesses.

It’s early days but there are signs that Trump Derangement Syndrome is on the way out. And the Middle East peace deal Donald Trump pulled off with sheer force of personality is part of the reason.
In a whirlwind 36 hours, the president addressed the Knesset in Jerusalem to hail a “new dawn in the Middle East,” and then flew to Sharm el-Sheikh to sign the Gaza peace deal, flanked by the leaders of Egypt, Turkey and Qatar, who had helped forced Hamas’ hand.
European leaders took a back seat and meekly kowtowed to Trump.

Republican Senator Chuck Grassley (Iowa) praised the Trump administration for overhauling the National Human Trafficking Hotline after a whistleblower came forward to him about the previous contractor’s mismanagement.National Review first reported on whistleblower disclosures to Grassley in May alleging Polaris Project, the contractor running the human trafficking hotline, failed to report complaints to law enforcement.
The whistleblower disclosed to Grassley specific instances where Polaris’s system led to situations where credible tips were not reported to law enforcement. Empower Oversight, the legal group representing the whistleblower, told Grassley that the person made disclosures internally and to government offices including the HHS inspector general.

The Nobel Peace Prize is dead—and it died of cowardice.
They gave Barack Obama a Nobel Peace Prize for hope.
Donald Trump earned a ten for results—and got no prize.
That single fact reveals more about the moral and institutional decay of Western leadership than any lecture about democracy ever could.
It wasn’t just a snub. It was a confession—a quiet admission that the Nobel Peace Prize, once a lodestar of moral clarity, has become a mirror of elite insecurities, incapable of recognizing peace when it comes from someone they didn’t script, sanctify, or control.

If politics is downstream from culture, and it is, we have a lot to worry about.
This is frankly because American culture has long been rotting like a 10-day-old avocado in the sun.
A good example, appearing in my X notifications yesterday, is a video of a white girl sporting corn-woven hair and speaking “Ebonics” while giving a cop a hard time.
“Why is she talking like that?” asks the original poster of the 54-second clip (below).X users reacting to the video were unsparing, with no small number attributing her behavior to low I.Q.
And one seemingly incredulous respondent asked, “Seriously, how does a white person become like this?

I would say, "Pity the poor Democrats," but they have spent far too many years being awful to warrant any consideration for whatever feelings their cold, leftist hearts might have. At the moment, the Dems are in political exile in Washington, D.C. Not by much, but it's exile nonetheless. As we have discussed many times, they aren't making much of a case to the American people to be brought out of it. Who knows? Maybe their "raining f-bombs on the Republicans" strategy will pan out. I remain skeptical about that.
They're also struggling with the government shutdown.
