When we argued that Joe Biden couldn't have possibly cut this deal, we had no idea how correct we had been.
To some surprise, Hamas actually and finally gave up its last remaining living hostages today. In doing so, they also parted with the last bit of leverage they have in order to come out of the war they launched two years ago with any sort of face-saving concessions. So why did they agree to this capitulation? Donald Trump left them no choice, having cut off every other diplomatic and military option, as the Wall Street Journal reports today:

Barack Obama has fallen yet again for a boy-faced Democrat hoping to "turn Texas blue." During a recent interview on Marc Maron's podcast, the failed former president touted James Talarico, the Texas state lawmaker running for U.S. Senate, as a "terrific, talented young man." Democrats haven't been this excited about a U.S. Senate candidate in Texas since Robert Francis "Beto" O'Rourke, who lost his race in 2018 but also managed to impress Obama with his terrific talents.
Talarico won praise from Democrats earlier this year by going on Joe Rogan's podcast. He parlayed that appearance into a U.S. Senate campaign and fawning headlines, such as

Something remarkable happened Monday morning on C-SPAN, and it captures exactly what President Trump has accomplished with his brokered peace deal between Israel and Hamas. A lifelong Democrat from New York was moved to tears by Trump’s speech to the Knesset.
The caller, identifying himself as a conservative Democrat, phoned into C-SPAN and promptly broke down in tears live on air. He was overcome with emotion discussing Trump's historic speech and the peace agreement that brought the remaining Israeli hostages home after two years in captivity.
Trump stood before Israeli lawmakers and declared words that once seemed impossible.

In 2018, President Trump was riding high on a wave of winning. Republicans had never had it so good, but Democrat operatives plotted their comeback, flooding Republican-held Congressional districts where Hillary Clinton had won. Millions poured into Orange County, California, as Democrats sensed an opportunity to flip Congressional seats blue for the first time in decades, if not in history. Gavin Newsom, then the Lieutenant Governor, was campaigning for Governor, shoring up all the support he could for Democrats running for Congress across Orange County, including Katie Porter, a law professor from UC Irvine. A fat, squat character actress of a candidate, no one could imagine this hog winning anything.

The 2020 census was marketed as an “actual enumeration,” a neutral count of people for apportionment and funding. It was not. The same official who helped block a basic citizenship question in 2018, John M. Abowd, then the Census Bureau’s Chief Scientist, pushed through a new, opaque methodology in 2020 called differential privacy. The new system deliberately injected mathematical noise into every block count in America, turning the census from a headcount into a model with knobs. The knob that mattered most was a single parameter, epsilon, a secrecy shroud known only to a small inner circle.

The Democrat-led shutdown is nearing two weeks, and there's no end in sight. Despite a clear path to reopening the government, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and his cohorts have chosen to filibuster a bipartisan clean constituting resolution that has been on the table since day one.
And while they claim to be standing up for the little guy by pushing for an extension of temporary COVID-era Obamacare subsidies, there's a more insidious game afoot. Take a look at the following posts. What do you notice about them? [Tweets]

Regardless of political disagreements, sometimes one must give credit where due, which we've seen to some extent after news broke last Wednesday, when President Trump announced that Israel and Hamas had signed off on the first phase of a peace plan that, among other things, would bring home the remaining surviving hostages. (Snip) When former Vice President Kamala Harris was asked the question over the weekend about whether Trump deserved credit, however, she gave a word-salady answer through gritted teeth, never mentioning Trump directly and instead saying, "I commend the people who have been a part of this process. I commend the Qataris, the Egyptians, and the president."

Something seemed off during Kamala Harris’s latest MSNBC appearance over the weekend. When asked whether she had spoken to Joe Biden after news broke that he would begin radiation treatments for prostate cancer, Kamala stumbled through a strangely awkward exchange. MSNBC’s Eugene Daniels gently tried to draw out a warm or reassuring response. Instead, what viewers got was a revealing moment that felt almost uncomfortable.
“Have you talked to him, um, about it?” Daniels asked.
“Yeah, no, I, I called him earlier,” Kamala said.
“How’s he doing?” Daniels followed up.
“I have not talked to him,” she admitted. “I just left him a message… after I heard the news.”

Speaking to the Knesset on Monday, Trump reflected on the historic Gaza-Israel peace deal after the return of the final 20 hostages, before he veered off topic and made a suggestion that made those in the room applaud and cheer.
"Hey, I have an idea," Trump said. "Mr. President [Isaac Herzog], why don't you give him [Netanyahu, who Trump pointed to in the front row] a pardon?" And the hoots and hollers began.

More than two years after the Israel-Hamas war erupted following the terror group's brutal October 7, 2023, attack, President Trump declared that the “long and painful nightmare” for both Israelis and Palestinians “is finally over.”
Earlier in the day, Hamas released the last remaining 20 living hostages, though the group is reportedly slow walking the release of the 28 deceased hostages that were set to be returned Monday.
Still, the mood across Israel was jubilant—none more so than among the families who welcomed their loved ones back from Hamas captivity.

President Trump’s ongoing efforts to bring peace between Israel and the terrorist Hamas group in Gaza appeared to bear fruit last week with a deal to cease hostilities and to release remaining hostages and prisoners. But will American voters back Trump’s bold plan? The answer is a resounding yes, the latest I&I/TIPP Poll shows.
After months of talks and arm-twisting, Trump was able to broker a tenuous deal that might serve as a pattern for future peace deals in the region.
Knowing the outline of the deal as first presented, I&I/TIPP asked voters: “Do you support or oppose the Trump peace plan for Gaza,

China holds a monopolistic level of control on the industrial processing of rare earth minerals. The minerals themselves are not rare; it’s the processing of them into refined elements used in industrial electronic component manufacturing that gives China power.
The U.S. and China hold a current trade agreement saying, essentially, we will remain steady with the baseline tariffs in exchange for Beijing maintaining a consistent policy on the export of processed rare earth magnets and minerals. The announcement of export controls by Beijing violated the terms of that trade agreement, and President Trump responded by announcing an additional retaliatory tariff of 100%, effective November 1st.

Here’s how the game works. In Trump’s first administration, radical federal judges just issued rulings blocking government actions. As the second term admin has been more aggressive about pursuing Supreme Court interventions, federal district judges are issuing frivolous rulings intended to barrage SCOTUS with a constant need to intervene. And that’s followed by complaints to the media that the Supreme Court is seizing too much power and undermining the judiciary.

Joe Biden's post-presidency has been rough, to put it mildly.
Nearly nine months after Donald Trump reclaimed the White House, Biden is holed up in Wilmington, Delaware, grappling with a reality that must feel like political exile. He's dealing not just with the sting of losing power, but also the inability to sell access and enrich his family. Though he won’t admit to the latter.
The irony couldn’t be thicker. After years of attacking Trump and using the Justice Department in a desperate bid to put his successor behind bars, Biden now finds himself being told by his own advisers to stay quiet and act like a traditional ex-president.

Ever since President Donald Trump brokered the historic peace deal between Israel and Hamas, the left has followed a predictable script—either praising the outcome while refusing to credit Trump or scrambling to hand the credit to someone else entirely. That’s exactly what Joe Biden’s former Secretary of State Antony Blinken is now trying to do. The deal, which involves releasing the remaining hostages and requires Israel to pull back to a predetermined line inside Gaza, aims to create a buffer zone to disarm Hamas. In his self-congratulatory thread on X, Blinken actually tries to spin the Trump-brokered ceasefire as “building on” what Biden supposedly achieved.

Dressed up as the “Countering Intelligence Service Infiltration” bill, this so-called “anti-infiltration” law is nothing more than a charter for mass intimidation, a desperate attempt to choke the last remaining freedoms of Iran’s embattled people. First unveiled in July, the bill is being railroaded through parliament at breakneck speed. President Trump’s crackdown on illegal immigration has earned no shortage of condemnation from progressive governors across the country. So it may be surprising that many blue-state leaders are quietly rolling back health coverage for people without legal status. Over the past few months, Democratic governors in California, Minnesota, and Illinois have all arrived at the same conclusion: It’s not practical to offer taxpayer-funded health insurance to undocumented immigrants.
In addition to being wildly expensive, such open-ended largesse jeopardizes health care access for vulnerable U.S. citizens who need the safety net most — single mothers, pregnant women, the elderly, and the disabled.

As much of the world continues to applaud the historic ceasefire brokered by President Donald Trump and his administration between Israel and Hamas, a Tel Aviv-based analyst at The New York Times has, shall I say, a "slightly" different take.
Yep, Adam Rasgon, writing for the self-proclaimed purveyor of "all the news that's fit to print" believes that the terrorist group —which committed horrific atrocities inside Israel on October 7, 2023, slaughtering roughly 1,200 innocent people, and taking some 250 more hostage — is taking a "big risk" by releasing its remaining 48 hostages, more than half of whom are presumed to be dead.

“I really commend President Trump and his administration,” Clinton told CBS News 24/7 Friday.
“As well as Arab leaders in the region, for making the commitment to the 20-point plan and seeing a path forward for what’s often called the day after,” she added. Clinton’s comments came just a day after Hamas agreed to Trump’s peace plan in a stunning move that is expected to end the two year war that’s ravaged the Gaza Strip.

Last April, Paul Krugman wrote the following about the reciprocal tariffs President Trump had just announced: “This is a much bigger shock to the economy than the infamous Smoot-Hawley tariff of 1930.” Krugman trotted out that trite analogy not because he really believed Trump’s tariffs were comparable to Smoot-Hawley, but because he knew his Substack subscribers would vaguely recall reading about the latter in high school and feel intelligent. Six months later it’s blindingly obvious that Trump was right about the tariffs and Krugman’s portentous predictions were utterly moronic.

JERUSALEM/CAIRO - Hamas handed over some of its last surviving Israeli hostages on Monday, a key step in ending two years of devastating conflict in Gaza as part of a ceasefire deal pushed by U.S. President Donald Trump, who landed in Israel to address the parliament.
With hundreds of cheering people gathered in Tel Aviv's Hostages Square, Israel's military said it had received the first seven of 20 surviving hostages after their transfer out of Gaza by the Red Cross. "I am so excited. I am full of happiness. It's hard to imagine how I feel this moment. I didn't sleep all night," said Viki Cohen, mother of hostage Nimrod Cohen,

When I wrote on Saturday that the foreign policy establishment is in utter shambles, I'm not sure I expected them to respond with such utter shamelessness. Yet, here we are, with former Secretary of State Antony Blinken giving Joseph Robinette Biden credit for the recently negotiated Gaza peace deal.
No, I'm not kidding, and that's not even the worst of it. (Snip) Clearly, this was a major victory for the Trump administration, which threw aside the conventional wisdom of the foreign policy "experts" and paved its own path. Yet, according to Blinken, they were simply following Biden's plan.
