Crocodile Tears: Despite Schumer Shutdown,
Top Dems Headed to Napa for Ritzy Retreat

After spending Sunday morning whining on talk shows about the Schumer Shutdown and faking concern for the welfare of federal workers, top Democrats are scheduled to head to California for a retreat at the ritzy Hotel Yountville in the Napa Valley. The retreat, scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, is hosted by DSCC Chair Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY). Back on October 3, Gillibrand told the Washington Examiner that the event was still planned despite the shutdown, but that those plans could change if the shutdown dragged on. But on Friday, October 10, Punchbowl reported that the retreat was still on and that Gillibrand would attend.

With seasonal storms hitting the East Coast, now is a great time to visit Napa Valley. I'm guessing that the Obamas have bugged out for Hawaii by now.

If my memory serves me correctly, I thought members of Congress believed in Global Warming so flying on jets would be against everything they believed in. Right? There they go again, doing what they condemn us for doing. What is good for them is not lawful for us. They could have gone to a closer resort like The Homestead. Hmmmm! Are they hypocrites? Of course, they are the ones who forced Obamacare on us but not on themselves. I have no respect for members of Congress.

Wouldn't this be a good time to try another vote? With so many absent, that's several votes "against' not being cast, making it easier to get a higher overall majority.

News organizations including The New York Times, The Associated Press and the conservative Newsmax television network said Monday they will not sign a Defense Department document about its new press rules, making it likely the Trump administration will evict their reporters from the Pentagon. Those outlets say the policy threatens to punish them for routine news gathering protected by the First Amendment. The Washington Post, The Atlantic and Reuters on Monday also publicly joined the group that says it will not be signing. AP confirmed Monday afternoon that it would not sign.

While the world's attention was focused on the release of the Jewish hostages taken by Islamic Hamas monsters, California Governor Gavin Newsom signed a bill into law that would make it easy for strangers to kidnap children from his state's schools—without parental permission, naturally. While one story gloried in hostages freed from totalitarian barbarians, another set of totalitarians loosed a plot to take more. Think that's overwrought? Hold my beer. Newsom signed AB 495 into law on Sunday night and pretended that the law, proffered by a Democrat to hide kids illegally in the country from Immigration authorities, kept parental rights intact and preserved parents’ relationships with their own children.

During his first bid to become Virginia attorney general, Jay Jones promoted legislative efforts to divest from the police, pull cops from schools, end qualified immunity for law enforcement, and abolish cash bail. As he centered his unsuccessful 2021 Democratic primary run on police reform and race, he repeatedly invoked George Floyd and Jacob Blake and said that the two men could’ve been him. On the campaign stump, Jones even said on Twitter that the two men could’ve been him. Floyd died in police custody in May 2020, setting off a wave of oft-violent Black Lives Matter protests and riots around the country. Blake was shot by police while holding a knife

Barack Obama has fallen yet again for a boy-faced Democrat hoping to "turn Texas blue." During a recent interview on Marc Maron's podcast, the failed former president touted James Talarico, the Texas state lawmaker running for U.S. Senate, as a "terrific, talented young man." Democrats haven't been this excited about a U.S. Senate candidate in Texas since Robert Francis "Beto" O'Rourke, who lost his race in 2018 but also managed to impress Obama with his terrific talents. Talarico won praise from Democrats earlier this year by going on Joe Rogan's podcast. He parlayed that appearance into a U.S. Senate campaign and fawning headlines, such as

Joe Biden's post-presidency has been rough, to put it mildly. Nearly nine months after Donald Trump reclaimed the White House, Biden is holed up in Wilmington, Delaware, grappling with a reality that must feel like political exile. He's dealing not just with the sting of losing power, but also the inability to sell access and enrich his family. Though he won’t admit to the latter. The irony couldn’t be thicker. After years of attacking Trump and using the Justice Department in a desperate bid to put his successor behind bars, Biden now finds himself being told by his own advisers to stay quiet and act like a traditional ex-president.

Hillary Clinton heaped some rare praise on her former arch-enemy Donald Trump for his handling of the Gaza peace deal in a recent interview. “I really commend President Trump and his administration,” Clinton told CBS News 24/7 Friday. “As well as Arab leaders in the region, for making the commitment to the 20-point plan and seeing a path forward for what’s often called the day after,” she added. Clinton’s comments came just a day after Hamas agreed to Trump’s peace plan in a stunning move that is expected to end the two year war that’s ravaged the Gaza Strip.

The 2020 census was marketed as an “actual enumeration,” a neutral count of people for apportionment and funding. It was not. The same official who helped block a basic citizenship question in 2018, John M. Abowd, then the Census Bureau’s Chief Scientist, pushed through a new, opaque methodology in 2020 called differential privacy. The new system deliberately injected mathematical noise into every block count in America, turning the census from a headcount into a model with knobs. The knob that mattered most was a single parameter, epsilon, a secrecy shroud known only to a small inner circle.

The far-left group said the truce “will not end Israel’s assault on the Palestinian people or the theft and occupation of Palestinian lands,” describing it as a “conditional cease-fire” that “does not wash the hands of the ruling class that …
