The Charlie Kirk memorial was a phenomenon. Something like 200,000 people showed up for it in Phoenix, and around 70,000 were inside the stadium. Millions watched online and on television. I think we are only beginning to see the consequences of Kirk’s murder by Tyler Robinson. They may be more profound than we could have guessed, eleven days ago.
Here are a few observations on the memorial:
* It went on for a long, long time. People were filing into the stadium hours before it actually got under way, with Christian music being performed from the stage. Some people must have been in the stadium for five hours or more.

Elon Musk and President Donald Trump were seen warmly greeting each other at Charlie Kirk's memorial service at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, on Sunday, marking their first public meeting since their highly publicized fallout earlier this summer.
Why It Matters
The potential reconciliation between Trump and Musk represents a significant political development, given their relationship deteriorated dramatically over disagreements about the president's "Big Beautiful Bill" spending legislation this summer.
The White House brushed off Musk's attacks on Trump as an "unfortunate episode." Press secretary Karoline Leavitt told Newsweek in June

President Donald Trump delivered remarks Sunday at Charlie Kirk’s tribute service in Glendale, Arizona, recalling the Turning Point USA founder’s influence on college campuses and his role in shaping national politics. Trump spoke of Kirk’s determination to take his message to universities long dominated by non-conservative students and faculty, describing how those campuses shifted as Kirk built chapters and engaged students directly.
“He was taking over college campuses, colleges that had, in theory, only very liberal or, as they like to say, ‘progressive.’ I call them liberal, but they like to call themselves such a beautiful word, ‘progressive.’ They’re the opposite of progressive,

President Donald Trump plans to announce Monday that using Tylenol during pregnancy could contribute to autism risk and will advise pregnant women only to use it, or generic acetaminophen, for high fevers, two senior administration officials told POLITICO.
The officials, granted anonymity to share details of the announcement in advance, said Trump would also highlight leucovorin, a cancer and anemia drug, as a potential therapy for people with autism.

Vice President JD Vance told the memorial audience for Charlie Kirk that Christianity is essential for good politics.
“I have talked more about Jesus Christ in the past two weeks than my entire time in public life,” he declared to the Arizona and national TV audience. The attendees roared their approval as Vance continued:
I always felt a little uncomfortable talking about my faith in public, as much as I love the Lord and as much as it was an important part of my life… Charlie knew that we were all children of God. He knew deep down the truth of Scripture, and from that confidence, everything else flowed.

President Donald Trump and numerous top officials from the administration mourned the late conservative activist Charlie Kirk at his memorial Sunday.
In his address about Kirk’s legacy and what his assassination means for conservatives moving forward, Trump, who throughout his political career had a personal relationship with Kirk, mourned the 31-year-old, whom he called a martyr for American freedom.
“He did what was right for our nation,” Trump said. “Our greatest evangelist for American liberty became immortal.”

GLENDALE, Arizona — Erika Kirk revealed that she forgives the man who killed her husband Charlie and preached unity and peace in a stunning, searing speech that left mourners speechless and crying on Sunday.
“He wanted to save young men. Just like the one who took his life,” Kirk’s widow said through tears, speaking behind the presidential seal on stage at State Farm Stadium.
She added: “I forgive him because it was what Christ did. And what Charlie would do.” “The answer to hate is not hate. The answer we know from the gospel is love and always love.

Tens of thousands of people packed into the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, on Sunday to honor the life of Charlie Kirk, with local outlets reporting that the crowd size could “exceed” those of NFL football games.
Worship music began as Kirk’s fans, friends, and family poured into the venue at 9:00 a.m. local time, after many people even camped outside Saturday night to secure their places in line: Headliners of the event include President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, War Secretary Pete Hegseth, and Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Normally, when I see a person wearing a t-shirt with an American flag and an eagle, I think, “patriot” and probably MAGA. Now, though, I’m having my doubts. Instead, I think we’re going to discover that a lot of venomously anti-MAGA people will be parading around in black t-shirts with flags and eagles on them as an homage to Charlie Kirk’s murderer, who wore that shirt when he pulled the trigger.
We’re all painfully familiar by now with the image showing Kirk’s killer right before the shooting:

We've been covering the furor on the left over the suspension of Jimmy Kimmel's show. Kimmel made comments on ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" implying that the suspect in the Charlie Kirk killing was MAGA, and claiming MAGA was trying to capitalize on Kirk's murder.
ABC "indefinitely preempted" Kimmel's show on Wednesday, when many of their affiliate stations decided not to run the show.
Folks on the left freaked out, claiming that this was President Donald Trump shutting down free speech. They seemed more upset about the Kimmel suspension than about the killing of Charlie Kirk. However, the powers that be

From CNBC,
Dow, S&P 500 close at fresh records, log big gains for the week after Fed rate cut.
The S&P 500 index was up 0.5 percent on the day and up almost 1 percent for the week. CNBC quotes a market analyst,
While September has historically delivered pullbacks, this year’s market has defied that pattern — climbing 35% since March with strong technical and fundamental tailwinds.
Meanwhile, things aren’t so rosy in the land of the Mouse. Stock for the Walt Disney Company (ticker symbol: DIS) was down almost 1 percent today and down more than two percent for the week. Disney, of course,

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) issued state-level unemployment statistics this morning and it was mostly bad news for jurisdictions that backed Kamala Harris last year.
The headline,
August jobless rates up in 3 states, down in 2; payroll jobs up in 1 state.
I’ve spare you the suspense. Jobs were up significantly in Utah (Trump +21) and down in the District of Columbia (Harris +86). The unemployment rate was down in Alabama (Trump +31) and Colorado (Harris +11). Unemployment was up in Delaware (Harris +15), Maryland (Harris +29) and Minnesota (Harris +4).
