Texas A&M University President Mark A. Welsh III will step down on Friday after more than a week of turmoil sparked by a viral video of a student confronting a professor over gender content in a children’s literature course, the Texas A&M University System announced Thursday.
The video, along with an audio recording of Welsh initially refusing to fire Professor Melissa McCoul, first circulated online on Sept. 8 after state Rep. Brian Harrison, R-Midlothian, shared it on the social media platform X.Welsh fired McCoul a day later, but the move did not satisfy Harrison, or Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, who did not think Welsh handled the situation properly.

Michigan Rep. Rashida Tlaib had a fiery back-and-forth with Florida's Byron Donalds during a House Oversight Committee hearing Thursday. The outspoken Democrat blasted President Donald Trump's Washington DC crime crackdown, slipping in a jab about the National Guard decision by the Trump administration as "fascist" during the hearing with Mayor Muriel Bowser and other DC leaders.
"We can't be passive right now ... nobody over there should take this personally," she said, motioning at the Republican side of the chamber. "It's really important we stand up against this fascist takeover - that's not a bad word, it's a fact."

At that point, Donalds interjected, bringing up the fascist remark.

US Representative Ilhan Omar doubled down on her critique of Charlie Kirk and his camp at a town hall meeting in Robbinsdale, Minnesota, on Saturday, September 13, footage shows.
More than 100 filed into the Elim Lutheran Church for the gathering, where bag checks and metal detectors were implemented as part of a heightened security effort amid the wave of recent political violence in Minnesota and the US.
Almost an hour into the meeting, a man criticized Omar for comments she made on Mehdi Hasan’s Zeteo News regarding various right-leaning figures.“So I’m just wondering, which approach is better?” questioned the man.

The Justice Department asked the U.S. Supreme Court on Thursday to shut down lower courts’ “interference” with President Trump’s efforts to fire Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook.
In its emergency application for stay, the Trump administration requested that the high court place a temporary pause on a preliminary injunction issued last week by Biden-appointed District Judge Jia Cobb. That order sought to block the president from removing Cook from her position with the agency.
Trump announced he was firing Cook “on Aug. 25 over allegations broached by one of his appointees that she committed mortgage fraud related to two properties she purchased in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and Atlanta in 2021,

Maybe it’s just me, but these two look like sisters.
During their state visit, Princess Catherine, 43, invited First Lady Melania Trump, 55, to join her for a fun last engagement together before she departs the castle to join her husband Donald Trump and Sir Keir Starmer at the Prime Minister’s country home at Chequers in Buckinghamshire(Via Daily Mail) […] The two ladies met up with a group of Scouts Squirrels – the youngest part of the UK Scouting organisation and designed for four to five-year-olds – who were working to earn their ‘Go Wild’ badge in Frogmore Gardens, in front of Frogmore House.

U.S. Solicitor General John Sauer has filed a motion with the Supreme Court [SEE HERE] requesting intervention in a lower court ruling that blocks President Trump from firing Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook.As noted in the filing, “As her removal notice observed, before taking office, Cook had made contradictory representations in two mortgage agreements a short time apart, claiming that both a property in Michigan and a property in Georgia would simultaneously serve as her principal residence. Each mortgage agreement described the representation as material to the lender, reflecting the reality that lenders usually offer lower interest rates for principal-residence mortgages because they view such mortgages as less risky.

OREM, Utah — Tyler Robinson, the Utah man accused of assassinating Charlie Kirk, was afraid of being shot by police and eventually agreed to surrender only if it was done peacefully, a sheriff involved with taking him into custody said Wednesday.
(snip)
“He didn’t want a big SWAT team at his parent’s house or his apartment,” said the sheriff, who was only involved with the surrender and not the broader investigation. “He was truly fearful about being shot by law enforcement.”

FCC Chairman Brendan Carr has done the impossible: He got ABC to consider the tone of its often offensively partisan programming and make a change. (snip)It was a tone-deaf pack of lies. The alleged assassin is not MAGA. At 22 he is not a kid. And he has numerous overtly leftist characteristics. Kimmel tried to throw his viewers off the scent of the truth, and, with a sickening mirth, kicked hurting people while they are down. (snip)
Kimmel straight-up lied to his audience, violating FCC regulations that prohibit news distortion or a hoax. According to the regulations:

In the days since Charlie Kirk’s murder, many have expressed incredulity about the condition of the country. (snip)
In May, 1856 Charles Sumner of Massachusetts took to the floor of the U.S. Senate to denounce the use of force and fraud to plant slavery and its inevitable offspring, Sumner’s “Crime Against Kansas” speech was long, direct, and forceful. A few days later, Representative Preston Brooks of South Carolina entered the Senate chamber with his lieutenants, Representatives Laurence Keitt of South Carolina and Henry Edmundson of Virginia, and commenced caning Sumner, who was sitting, his legs locked beneath his desk.

The United States is actively working to regain control over Bagram Air Base in Taliban-controlled Afghanistan, President Donald Trump said in remarks on Sept. 18.
U.S. forces relinquished control over the major air base in 2021, during the force drawdown from the country. The United States handed over control of the base to the U.S.-backed Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, which collapsed in August 2021 as the Taliban seized control over the Afghan capital city of Kabul.
Speaking during a press conference in the UK on Thursday, Trump suggested that the current Taliban authority in Afghanistan needs things that the United States can provide, and may be amenable to a deal allowing

Jimmy Kimmel celebrated President Donald Trump getting blacklisted. Jimmy Kimmel celebrated Tucker Carlson getting fired at Fox News. Jimmy Kimmel isn’t laughing anymore.
Poor Jimmy Kimmel. He thought it was still September 9.
On September 9, the day before they assassinated Charlie Kirk and then celebrated it, Jimmy Kimmel could get away with anything. Then, with a single gunshot, the ground shifted forever … and I do mean forever.
Normal People have had enough.
Jimmy Kimmel’s basement-rated Late Night show was “indefinitely” pulled offthe air Wednesday night by Kimmel’s fellow Democrats at ABC, which is owned by the Disney Grooming Syndicate (which is also run by Democrats).
