Powell's Mismanagement of the Fed Is Beyond

Quite apart from the Fed’s rather dovish interest rate cuts — they’re signaling two more quarter point drops after today’s move — one of the things that struck me about today’s announcement is how much the central bank apparently opposes President Trump’s pro-growth economic policies. Mr. Trump’s supply-side tax cuts and deregulation moves are going to boost economic growth while keeping prices low. Already, second-quarter gross domestic product growth has come in at 3.3 percent and the Atlanta Fed’s GDPNow is projecting another 3.3 percent in the third quarter.

If anyone thinks Powell is still Fed Chair because he's a prescient kind of guy, forget it! He is there to hamstring, obstruct, or damage President Trump's economic policies. That's it!

One of the problems of being competent is that people take your achievements for granted. Pretty soon they forget all about them and concoct new complaints or demands. This is the case with President Trump’s astonishingly successful fulfilled promise on border security, achieved within the first 100 days of his second term by his most underestimated Cabinet secretary, Kristi Noem, the tough-minded Homeland Security chief pilloried by the left as “ICE Barbie” because they can’t find anything real to criticize. Thanks to Noem and “border czar” Tom Homan, as well as the president’s own Day One executive orders, Trump could truthfully declare at the end of

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is getting blasted on social media after posting a picture supporting American Federation of Teachers (AFT) chief Randi Weingarten’s new book that suggests her political opponents are "fascists." "Congratulations to my friend [Weingarten] on ‘Why Fascists Fear Teachers.’ From banning books to controlling curriculum, authoritarians go after public education because it's a cornerstone of democracy," Clinton posted on Wednesday, along with a picture of Weingarten holding the book. "Randi's new book is a critical read for this moment," she wrote.

When the Preference Cascade Becomes a Flood 4 replies

I’ve written before about preference cascades — where large portions of the public, often a majority, conceal their views for fear of punishment, only to reveal those views when some precipitating event takes place. Classic examples include the fall of Communist regimes, like Ceausescu’s Romania, where even Ceausescu himself thought everyone loved him until shortly before he was stood in front of a wall and shot. Usually those happen in one direction. But in contemporary America, they’re happening in two. The murder of Charlie Kirk at the hands of a leftist gunman has revealed that many, many more Americans — and even people elsewhere around the world — supported Charlie

Adam Schiff were connected to leaks of classified information to prominent reporters designed to portray Donald Trump and his allies as being in league with Russia.  Written in 2017, the FBI documents expose how selected Washington reporters, including Ellen Nakashima of the Washington Post and Michael Schmidt of the New York Times, scored a series of Pulitzer Prize-winning scoops in 2017 by repeating false and inflammatory leaks during President Trump’s first term.   Much of their reporting has been debunked – and shown to be part of a smear campaign by high-ranking officials to undermine Trump,

Liberal host Bill Maher mourned the killing of conservative activist and Turning Point USA co-founder Charlie Kirk, contrasting conservatives who embrace dialogue with far-left activists who, he argued, seek to silence it. "Look, I might drink a little more than usual today," Maher told guest Billy Corgan of the Smashing Pumpkins. "Because I don’t know when this is airing, but this is a s--- day. A guy who sat there – Charlie Kirk – got shot today, and I can't stop thinking about it." Kirk’s assassination during a campus event stunned the nation and reignited a national conversation about the value of political dialogue – even across deeply divided ideological lines.

Obama was interviewed onstage by Steve Scully at the Jefferson Educational Society in Erie, Pennsylvania. He mourned Kirk’s death, saying it was “horrific,” but made sure to recite an (inaccurate) laundry list of Kirk’s more controversial statements, including a false claim that Kirk claimed black women were stupid. The stopgap funding bill, otherwise known as a continuing resolution (CR), would seek to avert a government shutdown on October 1 and keep the government open through November 21.
