Illinois Governor JB Pritzker's public relations team is apparently operating on the Keystone Kops level of sophistication. In a recent photo-op, Governor Pritzker appeared with members of a group of people wearing "peacekeeper" vests. One of the people photographed with the governor apparently has a very liberal (hah) view of what constitutes a "peacekeeper," as he was wanted in four states prior to the photo-op, and only days later, was arrested and charged with murder after a smash-and-grab burglary.

Is it really too much to ask that a murdered young man be given the dignity of a proper burial before bad-faith opportunists attempt to posthumously rewrite his legacy to better serve their own nefarious ends? Is it really too much to ask that a murdered young man's family and friends -- to say nothing of the countless individuals whose lives the young man touched and inspired -- be allowed to mourn in peace, without having to fend off charlatans seeking to hijack his memory to advance their pet crusades?

That raw number is impossible to ignore: Close to 100 Democrats balked at denouncing political violence when the resolution also praised Kirk’s legacy.
This becomes even more striking when you remember what happened just a few months ago.

With the news breaking on Wednesday Night that Jimmy Kimmel saw his late-night show suspended, there has been no shortage of voices of outrage from the left. Traditionally, it’s called “the people’s house” because the House of Representatives is supposed to represent and reflect the people to whom the congressional members represent. Republicans in the House threatened to withhold votes if Speaker Mike Johnson did not pass an enhanced House Member Security Funding Bill that includes a payment of $25,000/month per lawmaker to hire their own private security. This is in addition to the pre-existing security packages the House members receive.
The monthly funds would be designated for use hiring private security when the representatives are not in Washington DC. It is the republican wing pushing this demand.
