The Apollo 17 mission, NASA’s final crewed expedition to the Moon in December 1972, returned with valuable lunar samples, including material from the “Light Mantle,” a bright and unusual deposit at the base of the South Massif in the Taurus-Littrow Valley. Though collected over 50 years ago, these samples have only recently been reopened for detailed analysis as part of the Apollo Next Generation Sample Analysis (ANGSA) Program. This initiative utilizes modern technologies to explore lunar mysteries in preparation for future missions, such as NASA’s Artemis program, set to return astronauts to the Moon in the coming years.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has fired the head of the U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), which issued an assessment on U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, as well as other senior military officials.
Lt. Gen. Jeffrey Kruse will no longer serve as head of the DIA, a senior defense official told Fox News Digital on Friday. The firing came months after DIA details of the preliminary assessment of Operation Midnight Hammer were leaked to the news media. The assessment questioned the effectiveness of the strikes on Iranian nuclear sites.

Hall of Fame jockey Ron Turcotte, who rode Secretariat to the Triple Crown in 1973, has died. He was 84. He won the Kentucky Derby, Preakness and Belmont Stakes twice each, most notably sweeping the three with Secretariat to end horse racing's Triple Crown drought that dated to Citation in 1948.

Over time, we have learned that when Democrats and the left have nothing left to fight with, they take their issues into court. They shop whatever they would like to force onto the American people around to a left-leaning Democrat-appointed judge to get the outcome they want. They couldn't stop President Donald Trump's return to the White House, so they figure they will stop anything he tries to do through the court system. It literally took an act of Congress to put the brakes on activist judges, and a few of them continue to issue edicts. But now, Supreme Court Justices have had enough and are speaking out.

After the FBI raided John Bolton’s house on Friday, legal expert Jonathan Turley noted that the allegations against Bolton could potentially result in years of prison if they are true.
The Donald Trump-Kash Patel FBI reportedly raided Bolton’s home and office in search of classified documents. As my colleague Kevin Downey Jr. reported, Trump and co. have yet to confirm the report officially, but Patel and his deputy co-director Dan Bongino hinted on X that it was true and the raid was part of enforcing the law. Turley, when he commented, noted that allegations such as those leveled against Bolton could, if proved in court, lead to decades in prison.

250-years after the American Revolution unleashed a wave of toppled monarchies around the world, shadow “kings” are still jockeying for power. Rather than inheriting a kingdom, these wannabes will do anything to ascend a “throne”: steal, lie, cheat, charm, threaten, coerce -- they’d sell their own mother to wear a crown. It’s why current despots are so often narcissistic, sociopathic megalomaniacs. The Left always dredges up Hitler as an example of one. Yes, Der Fuhrer was a totalitarian autocrat, but make no mistake; Nazism was a socialist construct. Modern history proves that Leftist regimes have been, by far, the most...

The Trump administration’s crackdown on illegal immigration is playing a role in the sharpest decline in monthly remittances to Mexico in more than a decade, analysts say.
According to numbers released this month from the Bank of Mexico (Banxico), income from remittances abroad stood at $5.2 billion in June, a 16.2 percent decrease compared with June 2024.
That represents the largest drop in 13 years, according to a report from BBVA Research.

Democrats in Washington, D.C., are furious — not because violent crime was spiraling out of control, but because President Donald Trump did something to stop it.
A new Washington Post-Schar School poll found that roughly 8 in 10 D.C. residents oppose Trump’s deployment of the National Guard. The poll was conducted between Aug. 14 and Aug. 17 and surveyed 604 D.C. residents with a +/- 4.1 percentage point margin of error. This outrage was unsurprising, given that the propaganda press peddled the same narrative in recent days. A quartet of so-called journalists at CNN reported on Aug. 14 that a crowd in D.C. was “outraged by federal law enforcement presence.”

In his final keynote address at the Jackson Hole Economic Symposium on Aug. 22, Powell indicated that current economic conditions may warrant a reduction to the benchmark federal funds rate.
“With policy in restrictive territory, the baseline outlook and the shifting balance of risks may warrant adjusting our policy stance,” Powell said.

Weren’t we assured that Barack Obama went “into and out of office with not a whiff of scandal”? Yes we were. Former Washington Post columnist Richard Cohen told us so, as did many others. But it wasn’t true. There are many, the most recent a claim that Obama, and then Joe Biden, pressured bank executives to deny services to conservatives. It’s a serious charge that, like the Russia hoax, makes Watergate look like a sandbox squabble.
Here’s what we’ve learned: Acccording to Fox Business, major bank executives said “they were under pressure by the Obama and Biden administrations to deny services to individuals and businesses for political reasons.”

FBI Director Kash Patel tweeted “NO ONE is above the law… @FBI agents on mission” at around 7 a.m. ET, the same time his agents reportedly arrived

New York Attorney General Letitia James is going to need a bigger fish or a smaller trophy wall.
For months, James has paraded her victory over President Donald Trump in her civil judgment of half a trillion dollars. It did not matter that many of us denounced the judgment as grotesque and raw lawfare.
Now, however, the appellate court has replaced that mounted Marlin with a mere minnow. It threw out the financial penalty as unconstitutional and unwarranted. Even that downsized catch may have to be pulled down, since Trump can appeal the decision to leave the injunctive relief — including limits on doing business in New York — in place.

One of President Trump’s best qualities is that he understands energy–in particular, the vital need for affordable, reliable energy. Trump understands, further, that “green” energy technologies, wind and solar, are not and cannot ever be either affordable or reliable. They are essentially a heist, an attempt to transfer trillions of dollars out of certain industries, and into others. Also, out of the United States and into China. If the Left can pull it off, it will be the biggest transfer of wealth in human history.
I hate it when Republican politicians subscribe to an “all of the above” approach to energy, which implies that wind and solar

From the Miami Herald,
Judge orders Alligator Alcatraz shut down in 60 days, says no more new detainees.
It’s an Obama-appointed federal district judge, of course, and this is the case involving the alleged “environmental damage” being done to one of the world’s biggest swamps. From the Herald,
Though her order does not prohibit the state from making repairs to the site, the most striking aspect of the order is her demand that the state begin removing all generators, gas, sewage, and other waste items that have transformed the airstrip into a detention center within 60 days, rendering the site uninhabitable.
The state of Florida, of course, is appealing the decision.

A serial pedophile has agreed to be castrated as part of a plea deal after he was caught trying to sexually assault a seven-year-old girl.
Thomas Allen McCartney, 37, is classified a 'Tier Three' offender and is considered one of Louisiana's worst child predators. McCartney has agreed to be both physically and chemically castrated as part of plea deal Tuesday in order to reduce his prison sentence - although he'll still spend 40 years in prison, according to local station Fox 12. Louisiana is the first and only state to allow surgical castration to be used as a punishment for sex crimes.
