Inflation increased in July and moved further away from the Federal Reserve's target rate as central bank policymakers assess the health of the economy amid the president's calls for interest rate cuts. The Bureau of Labor Statistics on Tuesday said that the consumer price index (CPI) – a broad measure of how much everyday goods like gasoline, groceries and rent cost – rose 0.2% in July compared with last month, while it was up 2.7% from a year ago. The monthly figure was in line with the estimate of economists polled by LSEG, while headline was slightly cooler than the 2.8% expected.

Inflation is whatever the people will put up with since we abandoned the gold standard. I watched The Big Sleep the other day. A veal dinner was $0.45. Yeah, forty-five cents. Today I found a veal dinner for $29.95 at an Italian place.

My hunch, much of the inflation is concentrated in places like California who still has over $4 per gallon gasoline despite the price of oil coming down dramatically. With roughly 12% of the U.S. population paying between $1.50 and $2.00 per gallon higher that's a lot of additional cost. The CA government, with all the police, fire, and the hundreds of thousands of other vehicles those government agencies in the state use, also pay this higher than average price too. While it's always blamed on CA having their own unique blend that they switch from summer to winter, they don't have enough refining capacity and are ready to lose 2 refineries very soon which will be a 16% reduction in supply being available. We need to open up refining capacity by moving to 3 zones. Everything West of the Mississippi would be on the California blend which would enable more capacity to be added to the pool and help drive prices down and remove CA from being the fly in the ointment of policy for the entire United States. Maybe some forward thinking Native American reservation would realize they could have high-paying jobs if they opened up their sovereign territory for a refinery. Then, divide the rest of the country at the Mason-Dixon line to have a Northern and Southern blend. This would enable bulk purchases for the various chemicals used in the refining process and overall reduce the cost of transportation for the country.

I wish they wouldn't publish articles like this. They are blatant lies and insult our intelligence. The butler does not do our shopping; we do. We see those prices rising every time we walk into the store. We see the many items we no longer buy (like hamburger) because the prices have gone through the roof and continue to rise. So shut up with the inflation "cooling". It is not. The money is losing value at an accelerating pace and most DC types seem ok with it.

CBS’s announcement that it was canceling Stephen Colbert’s “Late Show”—after bleeding between $40 million and $50 million annually—should have been a wake-up call for the late-night industry. NBC, to its credit, seems to be catching on that alienating half the country is a losing formula, and that booking guests who appeal to both the left and right might actually draw viewers back. That lesson became crystal clear last Thursday night, when Greg Gutfeld walked into Studio 6B at Rockefeller Center and pulled off something NBC executives can’t ignore. The Fox News host delivered Jimmy Fallon’s highest-rated “Tonight Show” episode of 2025, drawing 1.7 million viewers

As predicted, the Texas Democrat legislators who fled to blue states to deny a quorum for redistricting have folded. Still, I'm not sure anyone expected them to fold this soon. According to ABC News, the runaways who claimed to be saving "democracy" are heading back to their home state early, claiming to have accomplished their goal of raising "awareness" about gerrymandering. That's a very polite way of saying they failed miserably. ABC13 has confirmed with multiple sources that House Democrats will return to Texas. Eyewitness News has not confirmed the date, but we do know that Democrats believe they've accomplished their mission by killing
Getting Jimmy Kimmel to Self-Deport Might

Can you imagine what a victory it would be for all Americans if, merely through his successful leadership, President Trump were able to get the basement-rated Jimmy Kimmel to self-deport? We already have a partial victory based solely on the fact that the Late Night elitist is putting the pieces in place to make it happen. Former comedian Jimmy Kimmel was a guest on former comedienne Sarah Silverman’s podcast on Friday, and the two of them discussed fleeing the country due to Trump. “A lot of people I know are thinking about where are they going to get citizenship?” Silverman said. Kimmel then broke this glorious news: “I did get Italian citizenship.”

Is Moms for Liberty a "hate group" on the order of the KKK? The Massachusetts Municipal Police Training Committee thinks so. Not even the infamously anti-sanity NGO, the Southern Poverty Law Center, which never saw a conservative-leaning group it didn't despise, has gone so far as to label Moms for Liberty a hate group, although they do call them "extremist." When even the SPLC can't conjure up enough evidence to indict you as a hate group, your worst crime is loving puppies and kittens.

It's pretty generally acknowledged at this point that President Trump won the 2024 election with help from a lot of working-class voters who'd previously cast votes for Joe Biden. The Democratic theory about how they could return to power was that Democrats would drive Trump's numbers down with constant criticism and soon enough those voters would see the error of their ways and return to the Democrats. In short, Democrats were counting on a backlash to save them. But so far it's not happening. Trump's numbers have gone down but Democrats numbers haven't really gone up. The voters who left the party don't see a good reason to go back.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned allegations of famine in the Gaza Strip as the product of a “global campaign of lies” in a speech on Sunday, while defending his government’s plan to take military control of Gaza City. He also promised to “bring in more foreign journalists” to Gaza, who have not been permitted beyond military embeds in 22 months of the war between Israel and Hamas. Netanyahu rejected international allegations that, by denying the entry of aid into Gaza, the Israeli military has inflicted famine upon its population, turning attention toward Israeli hostages still being held by Hamas. “Despite Hamas’s obstacles, two million people

WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump highlighted examples of crimes against public officials and lawlessness in Navy Yard in southeast Washington, DC, over the weekend during his announcement that the federal government is taking control of the Metropolitan Police Department. Trump pointed to the recent assault of a former Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) staffer, the stabbing of an aide to Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), the gunpoint carjacking of Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX) in October 2023 in Navy Yard, and the killing of former Trump administration official Mike Gill, among other horrific examples.

President Donald Trump's decision to federalize the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) continues to cause mass consternation on the left. Despite the move being unquestionably allowed under the Home Rule Act of 1973, which deals with the nation's capital as a federal district, accusations of "fascism" and "democracy" being threatened have flowed like milk and honey. In other words, it's just another weekday. How did we get here? A series of high-profile murders and violent assaults caught the attention of the president. Instead of taking action immediately, the administration asked the Democrat-laden city council to repeal some of its ineffective, harmful "social justice" policies

The cost for Texas Democrats abandoning their seats just went up exponentially. Brazenly wearing an easily visible white scarf, he was fearless in challenging the enemy to shoot at him. But it was only after the resistance had suffered numerous mission setbacks that a terrible reality came to light. Their leader, known as “The Scarf”, wore the garment, not to antagonize the enemy but to let them know where exactly he was on the battlefield so that, as a German collaborator, he would not be shot by them.
