Trump hits Brazil with 50% tariffs, excludes
aircraft, OJ, energy

WASHINGTON - U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday slapped a 50% tariff on most Brazilian goods to fight what he has called a "witch hunt" against former President Jair Bolsonaro, but softened the blow by excluding sectors such as aircraft, energy and orange juice. That came as a relief for many in Brasilia, who since Trump announced the tariff had been urging protections for major exporters caught in the crossfire. Shares of planemaker Embraer and pulpmaker Suzano rose. "We're not facing the worst-case scenario," Brazilian Treasury Secretary Rogerio Ceron told reporters. "It's a more benign outcome than it could have been."

Embraer manufactures their executive jets in Florida (high paying American jobs). Their regional jets are firmly embedded in the American aviation market which is supported by millions of traveling Americans (pocketbook issue). The MRO on those aircraft are performed in the U.S (high paying American jobs). OJ is firmly embedded in American family life (family pocketbook issue).

OJ is dead, unless he faked it so he could be more effective in finding the real killer.

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump said Thursday that there would be a 90-day negotiating period with Mexico after a call with that country’s leader, Claudia Sheinbaum, as the 25% tariff rates stay in place. Trump, posting on Truth Social, said his phone conversation with Sheinbaum was “very successful in that, more and more, we are getting to know and understand each other.” Trump said that goods from Mexico imported into the U.S. would continue to face a 25% tariff that the U.S. president has ostensibly linked to fentanyl trafficking. The Republican said that autos would face a 25% tariffs, while copper, aluminum and steel would be taxed at 50%.

President Donald Trump said Thursday that Canada’s decision to recognize Palestinian statehood could jeopardize a future trade deal between the U.S. and its northern neighbor. “Wow! Canada has just announced that it is backing statehood for Palestine. That will make it very hard for us to make a Trade Deal with them. Oh’ Canada!!!” Trump posted on Truth Social. Trump’s tariff deadline is August 1 and the U.S. has yet to reach a trade deal with Canada. Earlier this month, Trump threatened a 35 percent tariff on Canada, without going into specifics. The U.S. could increase tariffs on Canadian imports from 25 percent to 35 percent with exemptions

France, the United Kingdom, and Canada have now joined hands to proclaim they will recognize a "Palestinian state" in September if Israel doesn't surrender to Hamas. That comes despite calls from the United States to release the hostages as a precondition for any negotiations regarding a "two-state solution." In response, Hamas immediately pulled out of talks regarding a ceasefire, emboldened by a move that they see as assuring their survival as the governing authority in Gaza. In other words, Macron just doomed what hostages remain alive

The case is the one John wrote about on Monday where a rogue federal district judge vetoed the decision of Congress to defund Planned Parenthood. The Post‘s editorial is chock full of unexpected common-sense analysis,

Nancy Pelosi appeared rattled and visibly annoyed during a CNN interview this week when anchor Jake Tapper confronted her with Donald Trump’s accusations of insider trading. The former House speaker had joined the program to discuss the 60th anniversary of Medicaid, but things quickly went off-script when Tapper tried to bring up Trump’s pointed remarks. Tapper began to quote Trump, saying, “Nancy Pelosi became rich—” before Pelosi abruptly cut him off. “Why—why do you have to read that?” she snapped, clearly not happy with where the discussion was going. Tapper attempted to defuse the tension, saying he just wanted

Alternate headline: Harvard Runs Thin on Allies. The paroxysm of anti-Semitism on American campuses did not limit itself to the Ivy League. A continent away, pro-Hamas agitators and students staged violent intimidation campaigns at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA), making national headlines as Jewish students and faculty got targeted. The faculty and administration went all-in almost immediately after the October 7 massacres too, offering extra credit for pro-Hamas lectures the same week. That prompted demonstrations promoting an "intifada" against the Jews within hours:

Brown is the third high profile university to make such an agreement. The agreement, a copy of which Brown made public, calls for the university to make $50 million in payments to state work force development programs over a decade and requires Brown to comply with the Trump administration’s vision on matters like transgender athletes and “merit-based” admissions policies. The university, which is in Providence, R.I., secured a pledge from the government that the deal would not be used “to dictate Brown’s curriculum

WASHINGTON — Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has privately discussed the idea of running for political office next year in Tennessee, according to two people who have spoken directly with him about it. If Hegseth were to follow through on the discussions, it would amount to a major leadership shake-up at the department that oversees the American military and millions of federal employees. The Defense Department bars civilian employees from running for political office, meaning Hegseth would have to resign to do so. In a statement, Sean Parnell, the Pentagon’s chief spokesman, said, “Hegseth’s focus remains solely on serving under President Trump.”

Republicans may have finally learned how to fight fire with fire. In an unexpected move, Gov. Greg Abbott (R-TX) called a special session in mid-July to redraw his state's congressional map. The plan? To nuke the Democrats' dominance in several key areas, garnering five new seats. That would provide the GOP with a significant boost going into the 2026 midterms. With that said, the new map has now been released, and it's a bloodbath for Democrats. Texas Republicans unveiled a new congressional map on Wednesday that would provide their party with five new red-leaning districts, a plan that — if enacted

Watching the mainstream media flail as Donald Trump’s booming economy keeps thrashing the doomsday script is something to behold. Since Trump came back to office, these so-called “experts” and their media lapdogs have prayed for a recession, rooted against the American worker, and prophesied disaster if Trump continued to put America First. What have they gotten instead? Solid, irrefutable growth, the kind that should have had them eating crow instead of spinning fantasy. The latest economic report blew the doors off expectations. Second quarter GDP rocketed up by 3%, which is higher than any of the legacy media “experts” dared predict. Consumer confidence just posted another gain.

Ex-Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who has decided to continue his comeback tour after his embarrassing June primary loss to 33-year-old Mamdani, came in a distant second at 22%, while the GOP nominee Curtis Sliwa pulled 13%.

While most of the country has erupted in outrage after an angry mob savagely assaulted two white people in downtown Cincinnati over the weekend, one prominent local politician has the exact opposite reaction to the story. As The Gateway Pundit reported, a group of black individuals smacked around a bald white guy at the intersection of West Fourth Street and Elm Street in downtown Cincy and beat him so bad that he could not get up. Then, a white woman got slugged by one of the cowards. Her head slammed down onto the concrete, and she lost consciousness. Blood was seen coming out of her mouth.

A radioactive wasp nest has been discovered near a former nuclear weapon manufacturing facility in South Carolina. The nest was found by workers at the Savannah River Site in Aiken County, according to a report from the Department of Energy. According to reports, the contaminated nest was found on July 3, just before 2 p.m., by Radiological Control Operations workers during routine inspections. Located on a stanchion near a tank in the F-Area tank farm, the nest registered a staggering 100,000 disintegrations per minute (dpm), a level described as “moderately high” radiation. Workers promptly sprayed the nest to eliminate the wasps, which were then bagged and disposed of as radiological waste.

The House is in recess now, but that hasn't stopped silly Democrats like Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) from lame attacks on Republicans and President Donald Trump. It's all they know how to do since, as former Democratic operative Dan Turrentine noted, they don't have any agenda. He posted videos doing things like swimming in a pool or lifting weights saying that he should be working and lowering costs for people. (Snip) Swalwell was roundly mocked on X. Fox's Greg Gutfeld had a little fun with him, as our sister site Twitchy reported. Gutfeld said Swalwell's videos gave "the ick." That mocking upset Swalwell, who then decided to embarrass himself more.

She said, “Do not come into Mexican national ground if you’re going after the cartels.”

The Commerce Department report found the American economy, as measured by Gross Domestic Product (GDP), made the gains from April through June. GDP is a measure of a basket of goods and serves to measure growth throughout the U.S. economy. The three percent figure exceeds the Dow Jones estimate at 2.3 percent and reversed the 0.5 percent decline the first quarter of the year experienced.
