DOJ defends bringing case against Ghislaine

The Justice Department on Monday defended prosecuting Jeffrey Epstein’s madam Ghislaine Maxwell — as US Attorney General Pam Bondi faces a brewing firestorm over files related to the notorious pedophile. The disgraced British socialite was wrong to claim that she was protected by the baffling sweetheart plea deal Epstein struck with the Florida feds in 2007, DOJ lawyers argued. “That contention is incorrect,” the feds wrote in a legal filing. Maxwell, 63, has asked the US Supreme Court to toss her 2021 conviction for grooming and abusing young women based on that claim.

I believe Maxwell should be given a new trial. Her trial was rigged so everything would be buried, including her put in jail for 20 years to keep her quiet.

February 18, 2022 "She managed to avoid the spotlight, however, secretly moving to a rented mansion in New Hampshire where she was tracked down and arrested in a major operation in July 2020." "It was only after her arrest that it emerged she was married — with even Maxwell’s supportive siblings later admitting they had no idea." https://nypost.com/2022/02/18/ghislaine-maxwells-husband-selling-mansion-for-nearly-7-3m/ Scott G. No, MAGA is not in a firestorm. The democrats are in one, as usual. Trump knows what he's doing. No, he's not perfect and I might disagree with some of his decisions, but I'm still a staunch MAGA because he is doing so much right that this country has needed for a long time. Had Harris won, by this time she would have completed the destruction of our country. I honestly don't care about the Epstein files.

Whatever it is they should release all of it. The idea that a guy like Epstein had no records of his numerous high profile acquaintances is simply ridiculous. A small child wouldn't buy that one. I don't care who goes down. If they were involved in raping little girls they should go down.

Trump could put this to bed by the end of the week by simply directing everyone on his staff who is part of it to start taking questions, and then docus on it during an impromptu press conference on the White House lawn. To keep saying that there are no documents, there's nothing to see, and it's time to move on isn't going to quell anyone's curiosity.

Was Bondi involved in the Florida deal that mentioned not bringing future cases against either Epstein or his “coconspirators”? He would have never built that temple on the island if Florida had taken care of a pedophile/rapist when they had him in custody. The same connections that told Florida then that Epstein was an "intelligence asset" are at work now.

No matter what else is going on or what accomplishments Trump might have, we will never have credibility as a people until this is addressed, and hard. If we are willing to look the other way for political expediency while we allow baby rapists to rule us, we do not deserve the blessings of liberty. As it is they appear to be trying to run out the statute of limitations, and/or push it into the background until everyone says its yesterday's news and we should move on to bigger fish to fry. Ther ARE no bigger fish to fry. This is not just more political BS.

Our concern is not over the actual Epstein files. I could care less about what perverts do in their spare time. Much more serious is the behavior of the DOJ, FBI and the controversy surrounding the "suicide." Epstein is dead but many of the people involved in his arrest, coverup and manipulation of the evidence are still walking around free. We need to know if we are asked to trust these people in the future.

Democrats underwater in new poll 2 replies

The Democratic Party’s approval rating is underwater at 40 percent, according to a new poll, the latest troubling sign for a party still grappling with its losses from November. A Harvard CAPS/Harris Poll released on Monday found that only 4 in 10 respondents approved of the job that the Democratic Party is doing, a slight drop from June, when 42 percent of respondents answered similarly. Of the 40 percent of respondents who gave the Democratic Party a thumbs-up, they included 72 percent of Democrats and 29 percent of independent or other voters.

New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy (D) was issued a subpoena over comments he made in February, implying that he was sheltering an illegal alien in his home, according to a New York Times report. Several people “with knowledge of the matter” told the outlet that U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey Alina Habba was “pursuing an investigation” into Murphy’s comments. Two of the sources clarified that Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agents had “sought to interview at least four witnesses in connection with the comments,” while another person stated that Murphy “had been subpoenaed”:

A district judge appointed by former President Barack Obama has upheld her own order from late last week blocking a provision of the “Big, Beautiful Bill” that defunds abortion giant Planned Parenthood of taxpayer dollars through Medicaid. U.S. District Judge Indira Talwani issued an amended temporary restraining order on Friday explaining why she decided to block the provision ahead of a hearing — after releasing an initial order on July 7 blocking the provision with no explanation, just hours after Planned Parenthood filed its lawsuit.

Major League Baseball (MLB) made a scheduling decision regarding the 2021 All-Star Game in Atlanta. The decision was a political statement because of mounting pressure from the Biden Administration, Stacey Abrams, and a litany of virtue-signaling CEOs. In one decision, MLB removed any doubt that it didn't have the baseballs when it moved the All-Star Game to Denver, Col. Why were the wolves howling four years ago? Because the state of Georgia had the temerity to pass an election integrity bill, Senate Bill 202. Democrats, without any evidence, described the bill as "Jim Crow on steroids." Stacy Abrams, that bastion of integrity, called for economic boycotts.

Today's lead-off is an extension of something that Kevin and I discussed in an all-access episode of "Unwoke" last month. That was mostly about the riots in Los Angeles and how it seemed that there were (are) no adults in charge there. The other end of that leftist spectrum is a government that is too in charge. EU trade ministers agreed Monday that U.S. President Donald Trump’s announcement of 30% tariffs on the European Union was “absolutely unacceptable,” and they are studying a new set of countermeasures to respond to the move. The ministers met Monday in Brussels following Trump’s surprise announcement over the weekend of such hefty tariffs, which could have repercussions for governments, companies and consumers on both sides of the Atlantic. The EU is America’s biggest business partner and the world’s largest trading bloc. Maroš Šefčovič, the EU’s trade representative in its talks with the U.S., said after the meeting that it was “very obvious from the discussions today, the 30% is absolutely unacceptable.”

U.S. President Donald Trump repeatedly said during his campaign that, if elected to a second term, he would be able to end the war between Russia and Ukraine “in 24 hours.” But since his Jan. 20 inauguration, the road to a peace deal has been fraught with changing dynamics between the U.S. leader, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Russian President Vladimir Putin. Trump’s rhetoric toward both Zelenskyy and Putin has evolved since the beginning of the year. On Monday, Trump said he’ll punish Russia with tariffs if there isn’t a deal to end the war in Ukraine within 50 days, the latest example of his growing frustration with Putin.

WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court on Monday allowed the Trump administration to move ahead with plans to carry out mass layoffs at the Department of Education that were blocked by a federal judge. The conservative-majority court, without any explanation, granted an emergency application from the administration that blocks the federal judge's ruling. The court's three liberal members objected, with Justice Sonia Sotomayor writing a blistering dissenting opinion. "When the Executive publicly announces its intent to break the law, and then executes on that promise, it is the Judiciary’s duty to check that lawlessness, not expedite it," she wrote.

While it’s good for a cheap laugh, because they are often smug, condescending and hateful to those who disagree with them, their fragile psychological state poses a threat to the republic. A Rasmussen poll released Monday found that 60% of Democratic voters still believe “the Trump campaign colluded with the Russian government to win the 2016 election.” As disturbing as that is, 69% of those who self-identify as “liberals” believe Donald Trump conspired with Moscow to beat Hillary Clinton.
