The big news from yesterday and today is that the tapes of Special Counsel Robert Hur’s interview with Joe Biden about unsecured classified documents in Biden’s garage became public. They showed a man who was obviously in the grips of senile dementia and who therefore had no business running anything, let alone the world’s most powerful country, one armed with nuclear weapons.
Since I already knew in 2020 that Biden was suffering from dementia, a progressive condition—and then I’d watched it progress for the next four years—the Hur tapes affirmed what I already knew. They weren’t news, indeed, to any conservatives. What has been newsworthy is

A massive Mexican navy tall ship on a goodwill visit to New York slammed into the Brooklyn Bridge late Saturday — toppling its huge masts into the deck in a horrifying scene that left 19 injured, including four critically, according to fire officials and sources.
The majestic Cuauhtémoc — which has a crew of 277, mostly cadets — apparently lost power as it was sailing out of New York on its way to Iceland and the current carried it into the road deck of the bridge around 8:30 p.m., according to Mayor Eric Adams and footage of the crash.
The collision sheared off the ship’s 147-foot masts. Adams said two sailors

Axios has now released the full Special Counsel Robert Hur interview of Joe Biden about the classified documents that were found at his home and office. The interview tok place over two days, October 8 and 9, 2023, with Hur and his Deputy Special Counsel Marc Krickbaum. There are more than five hours of audio.
As we've reported, the audio clips previously released show how bad Biden was, not even remembering the date of his son's death, or when President Donald Trump became president the first time in January, 2017.
Then there was the tense moment when Biden's attorney, Bob Bauer, intervened to clean up an answer Biden gave

As RedState reported, several portions of audio from Joe Biden's infamous interview with former special counsel Robert Hur were published by Axios on Friday, and to say they were shocking would be the understatement of the century.
It's not that we didn't know Biden was completely senile. This site has written countless stories on the multitude of public appearances by Biden that devolved into doddering confusion, whether it was slurring his words, forgetting the names of his cabinet officials, or repeatedly getting lost trying to exit stages. What we hadn't gotten was a peek behind the curtain of what the former president was like when

Republican spending hawks dealt a significant blow to President Trump’s domestic agenda on Friday, blocking his “big, beautiful” bill from advancing through the House Budget Committee.
The measure failed in a 16-21 vote, with five Republicans voting no: Representatives Chip Roy of Texas, Ralph Norman of South Carolina, Josh Brecheen of Oklahoma, Andrew Clyde of Georgia and Lloyd Smucker of Pennsylvania.
The party could only lose the support of two of its members and still pass the legislation.
The fiscal hawks who voted down the 1,116-page bill argue the measure doesn’t include enough spending cuts

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced Friday that it had launched “Operation Gideon’s Chariots,” aimed at clearing out the remaining Hamas terrorists, tunnels, and weapons from Gaza — inch by inch.
Earlier this month, as Breitbart News reported, Israel called up its reserves and began preparing the operation, warning Hamas that it would launch Gideon’s Chariots if all hostages were not freed by the conclusion of U.S. President Donald Trump’s visit to the region.
As Breitbart News reported at the time:
Military analysts describe “Gideon’s Chariots” as a classic “clear, hold, build” strategy to root out Hamas and create new, credible, demilitarized civilian authorities to govern the Palestinian communities in Gaza.

Too many fishing lines in the same pond.
It’s so overcrowded that even James Comey, the insufferable, holier-than-thou ex-FBI director, just tried his hand at it. And still, the great Trump whale eludes them.
It beckons the self-righteous description of another failed fisherman, Captain Ahab: “all my means are sane, my motive and my object mad.”
In other words, it’s the inverse of the classic Costanza-inspired breakup: “It’s not me. It’s YOU.”
Curses and drat, ye Trump!
For 10 long years, Democrats have been hunting Donald Trump. For 10 long years, they’ve done everything they could to spear the great monster of the Republic — the dreaded leviathan who is “dismantling our democracy.”

Newly released audio from then-President Joe Biden’s lengthy interview with Special Counsel Robert Hur captures Biden’s diminished mental acuity in his failure to recall the year his son Beau passed away, the year his vice presidency ended, the year President Donald Trump was first elected, and why he possessed certain classified documents.
Biden’s long pauses and incoherent ramblings in response to light questioning from Hur are apparent in over four minutes of audio first reported by Axios on Friday night. The partial release fulfills expectations that the Trump administration would finally disclose the long-anticipated interview tape after Biden’s administration obstructed its disclosure at every turn.

We reported earlier how some of the audio from Special Counsel Robert Hur team's interview with Joe Biden had been released by Alex Thompson, one of the authors of the new book about Biden, "Original Sin."
That audio segment dealt with how confused Biden was, even over such a pivotal moment as when his son died. As you may recall, Biden later didn't tell the truth and attacked the Hur team for mentioning his son, but the audio shows that yes, indeed, it was Biden who brought up his son. Biden also had confusion over things like when President Donald Trump first took office.
It's one thing reading

As it turns out, Pope Leo XIV is Catholic.
The U.S.-born pontiff delivered an address Friday to the Vatican diplomatic corps where he affirmed that marriage is between a man and a woman, and emphasized the dignity of unborn children and the elderly.
“It is the responsibility of government leaders to work to build harmonious and peaceful civil societies. This can be achieved above all by investing in the family, founded upon the stable union between a man and a woman, ‘a small but genuine society, and prior to all civil society,'” Pope Leo XIV said, with a reference to Pope Leo XIII’s Rerum Novarum encyclical.

Joe Biden may have cost Democrats the White House in 2024. Their inability to admit it, some Democrats fear, could hobble them in 2028.
As a fresh reckoning in the party unfolds around the former president’s mental acuity, potential presidential contenders have mostly dodged questions about his condition while in office. They’ve also sidestepped whether the party should have more forcefully called on him to abandon his reelection bid earlier. “How are some of these national frontrunners or people who are already barnstorming states like South Carolina or Iowa expected to look voters in the eyes with a straight face and say, ‘Trust me, even though I got the 2024 election

FBI Director Kash Patel on Friday announced plans to move the bureau out of its headquarters in Washington, D.C.
As part of the plan to vacate its headquarters in the J. Edgar Hoover Building, the bureau will transfer 1,500 employees to varying locations nationwide. The building, which is located on Pennsylvania Avenue NW, has served as the FBI’s headquarters since 1975.
“This FBI is leaving the Hoover building because this building is unsafe for our workforce,” Patel said during an appearance on Fox News. “We want the American men and women to know if you’re going to come work at the premier law enforcement agency in the world,
