Rowan & Martin's "Laugh-In" was regular viewing in my home, and I grew up watching the ebullient personality and quick wit of comedienne Ruth Buzzi. One of her main characters on the show was Gladys Ormphby, the spinster who used her handbag with effective accuracy. [Video] (Snip) On Friday, Buzzi's death was announced. After her long battle with Alzheimer's, the complications from the disease finally took their toll. Buzzi was 88 years old. Buzzi died Thursday of complications from Alzheimer’s at her home near Fort Worth, Texas, her longtime rep, Mike Eisenstadt, told The Hollywood Reporter.

Comments:

Thank you, Miss Ruth, for all of the laughs over the years.

My grandmother and mother both died from Alzheimer complications. Her family has my sympathies. Just imagine not being able to remember the joyful humor you gave the country. (That was when SNL was actually funny.) She was a hoot. Here's hoping she remembers now. And we thank her. Nevermind : )

Rutn Buzzi was on Laugh-In, I think some are confusing her with Guilda Radner on SNL. (As Emily Latella, "Never mind.")

Re #8, yes, I remembered the wrong TV SHOW, but do easily distinguish between the very different Guilda Radner and Ruth Buzzi. And "Pappa Rosannadanna was right!..........It's always something." from Radner's Rosanne Rosannadanna character is still a favorite line and used often by me.

My favorite Gladys skit was the one she did with John Wayne. Halfway through the skit after hitting him a couple of times with her purse, she fell on him laughing saying, out of character, "I can't hit this man."

In yet another brutal consequence of the previous administration’s lax border policies, three Virginia correctional officers were reportedly stabbed by MS-13 gang members who are in the U.S. illegally. The attack, which took place inside a state correctional facility, underscores the growing threat posed by violent foreign nationals who slip through the cracks of a broken immigration system. On Friday, six inmates—five of them confirmed members of the violent MS-13 gang—launched a premeditated attack on three correctional officers at Wallens Ridge State Prison in Big Stone Gap, Virginia. According to the Virginia Department of Corrections (VADOC), the attackers are nationals of El Salvador and were in the United States illegally.

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy blasted an aviation incident near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport involving an Army helicopter, just months after a midair collision in the same area killed 67 people. On Thursday, two passenger jets were forced to abort their landings at the airport because of an Army Black Hawk helicopter taking a "scenic route around the Pentagon." Reagan National airport has been in the spotlight ever since the catastrophic crash of an Army Black Hawk helicopter and a regional passenger jet killed 67 people in January and set off a wave of investigations. According to the email written Friday by Chris Senn, FAA’s assistant administrator for government and industry affairs,

The calls for violence are growing louder and louder by the day. The agitators are calling for the assassination of public figures and elected officials; they are calling for acts of insurrection by federal and local law enforcement. These are actions that would very likely prompt a second civil war, but the agitators have no thought of that, or, on the few occasions when they register that possibility, seem somehow to think that their side would win. The people making these calls for violence are, of course, all members of the "progressive" left. Jonathan Turley recently penned an interesting piece on those people.

Colorado’s “Kelly Loving Act” (HB 1312) is truly one of the most radical, extreme, and anti-family bills ever proposed in our nation’s 249-year history. And that might be an understatement. HB 1312 purports to provide “legal protections for transgender individuals.” In reality, it facilitates the state ripping children away from their parents if they refuse to go along with their child’s desire to “socially” or “medically transition.”
