Sunday on ABC’s “This Week,” former Gov. Chris Christie (R-NJ) said President Donald Trump’s tariffs caused the world to see the United States as an “unreliable partner.”
Host George Stephanopoulos said, “I think you identified the tariffs as the number one issue. Liberation Day is probably the most consequential day of the first 100 days. Is there an exit strategy for Donald Trump on this?
He asked, “Can he make this sort of series of deals that limit the damage?”
Christie said, “Well, it depends on what those deals look like, George. I will tell you, if you look at the reaction of the rest of the world,

You can’t find 10 people who are waiting for what Kristie Crème has to say about anything, let alone tariffs. He is about as relevant as a 1964 Chevy Corvair.

How does the world judge us as an 'unreliable partner?' Unreliable because they can't depend on us to let them rip us off while they put tariffs on us and we don't respond in kind? I mean, who can trust us, when we demand an even playing field?

It's 'Republicans' like Christy that proves why for so many decades the party was in the minority. Even after they've been elected as Republicans they don't stand for the beliefs and values of real Americans who voted for them. We need some kind of litmus test, or at least a vow from the candidates that if they don't stand for decency and common sense they'll resign. Looking at you Senators Collins and Murkowski.

The “world” Governor will not pay down our 37 trillion dollars of debt. We have to do it ourselves. We are 42% of the world’s consumer market. If they don’t like us they can go sell elsewhere.

I think Christie has it exactly backwards. It's the U.S. that has unreliable partners. When your reliable partners have a 20% tariiff or more on your products that they allow in, it becomes a with friends like that, who needs enemies.

Blowhard news from a man who fears a donut price increase. I think nations around the world will respect the U.S. more for standing up to the world's uneven tariffs on U.S. goods.

Would someone kindly inform the human blimp Christie that doughnuts are not imported into our country hence not subject to Tariffs so he will stop annoying the rest of us with his ignorant blather and get his bovine butt back to grazing peacefully in a meadow full of doughnuts?
Thanks

In the latter half of the 1980s, the USA's biggest trading partner was not Japan, but West Germany. In those later Cold War and pre-EU days when there were two German states, the West Germans had a policy of reciprocity on trade: Foreign countries got as much access to West Germany as the foreign countries permitted West Germany to have. And Ronaldus Magnus was 100% free trade at the time, so our exports to West Germany were huge as we had unfettered two-way free trade.
Today, PDJT is actually doing "reciprocity lite" because he's only charging our trading partners half the tariffs they charge us. That is not unreliable... it's actually quite rational and reliable. Once our trading partners reduce their tariffs to 0%, so will we. Reciprocity works..

Kristie Kreme is huffing and puffing again. WGAS what Kristie says, he's a very sore loser. 47 is correct in his stand on tariffs. America is no longer a tariff putz. Reciprocal tariffs are a way to make sure fair trade is a two way trade not as it is now with America holding hind end. Make Fair Trade Great Again.

Christie's defining moment was when he closed the beach during COVID and then enjoyed it with his family, splashing most of the water back out into the Atlantic. I hear that he eats donuts like they were M&Ms, by the bagfull.

Here’s a news flash Christie. Trump’s intent is for us to become an unreliable partner. Our trading partners have relied on us for decades to swallow their tariffs and let Americans pay the price and politicians like Christie are comfortable with that. His main concern is that we should be liked. That’s why he is not nor will he ever be our President.
