The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame announced its Class of 2025 on Sunday evening during the “Rock & Roll Hall of Fame” edition of “American Idol.” Your 2025 Rock Hall inductees in the Performer category are: Bad Company, Chubby Checker, Joe Cocker, Cyndi Lauper, Outkast, Soundgarden, and The White Stripes. To be eligible for induction, an individual artist or band must have released its first commercial recording at least 25 years prior to the year of nomination. The 2025 Induction Ceremony will happen on Saturday, November 8, at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.

Comments:

It's shocking that Chubby Checker had to wait this long to be inducted.

So, Outkast is this year's rap/hip-hop nominee for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, an institution best-described by the Sex Pistols as "urine in wine."

There must be some political reason they left out Billy Idol. He was high up in the public voting.

And I am still waiting for Iron Maiden to get it. The RRHoF does not like metal very much and they also ignore a lot of mainstream acts that had lots of hits like Huey Lewis and News. I love Rock music so much and I went to the Hall of Fame a few years ago. I asked one of the employees there if they had any exhibits on KISS and he looked at me like I had emitted a foul odor. At least I got a Cheap Trick t-shirt at the gift shop where the employees were nice. Up the Irons!!

Joe Cocker definitely belonged in the Hall. So does Bad Company. Maybe next year is the time for Billy Idol*, who definitely has the best name. It's nice to see the recognition of Thom Bell (Stylistics), Nicky Hopkins (British session pianist), and Carol Kaye (bassist for the Wrecking Crew). They are so deserving! *In his early school years, William Broad, after misbehaving in class was admonished by his teacher, who warned him that unless he improved, he would become a "idle" adult. That's where "Billy Idol" came from.

Motley Crue has an amazing catalog. Google it and be shocked at how many of their songs you love. Meanwhile Joe Cocket is in? He had what? 2 covers that did anything? Motley Crue is a ROCK band, but they wait while Dolly Parton sarcastically releases "Rockstar" after her induction. What a farce.

Stubbornly Cling to DEI Policies

While the populist consensus is that MAGA is killing off diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) in corporate America, that may not always be the case in some of the nation’s biggest companies. According to one report, shareholders of some leading companies, including Costco, Apple, Levi’s, John Deere, Goldman Sachs, and others, have voted against proposals targeting DEI programs. Those proposals included asking companies to ditch their DEI policies and examine the legal risks of pursuing them. Two conservative think tanks, the National Center for Public Policy Research and the National Legal and Policy Center, are reportedly behind most of the DEI-killing measures.

On October 7, 2023, Hamas jihadists committed an unspeakably evil atrocity against Jews living in Israel. Within hours of the Nazi-like pogrom, nearly three dozen separate groups of Harvard University students blamed the Jews for it. Did the Harvard “Students for Justice in Palestine” (SJP) chapter have, as a recently filed lawsuit alleges the Columbia SJP chapter had, advance knowledge of the massacre? [SNIP] Harvard cannot claim to care about the plight of Jews on its campus while simultaneously suing for its “right” to bilk the American taxpayer while appearing to defy the Civil Rights Act of 1964. It’s really that simple. Some circles just can’t be squared.

Pope Francis' sudden death has thrown the spotlight back on a 900-year-old prophetic manuscript. The 12th-century ‘Prophecy of the Popes’ — reportedly uncovered in the Vatican’s secret archives — claims to predict the identity of Francis’ successor and even foretells the return of Christ. The document contains a series of cryptic Latin phrases, each believed to describe a pope, starting with Celestine II in 1143 and ending with ‘Peter the Roman’ in 2027. Fanning the flames is the eerie fact that there are currently nine frontrunners to succeed Pope Francis — and three of them are named Peter.

Pope Francis has died aged 88, the Vatican announced today. The Pontiff spent his final weeks in hospital with an infection that developed into pneumonia in both lungs. The Conclave - where cardinals gather in the Sistine Chapel at the Vatican to choose a successor - will not happen for at least 15 days. Francis just yesterday greeted Catholic faithful who had gathered to see him at St Peter's Square on Easter Sunday. He delivered his 'Urbi et Orbi' benediction from a balcony overlooking the square following mass to mark the high holiday.

Christians around the world celebrate Jesus of Nazareth’s resurrection on Easter Sunday, almost 2,000 years after he died and was raised form the dead just three days later. The exclamation “He is risen” is thrown around so much during the Easter holiday. But what does it mean? Why is the grisly image of the cross of Calvary so revered by Christians? Most are aware of the story of Jesus being crucified on Good Friday and emerging from his tomb after three days. But Christians believe the meaning of his resurrection is much more significant than merely showcasing divine power over death.

Quite how the Government expected to hold “more than five” independent inquiries into grooming gangs for £5 million when the Telford inquiry alone cost £8 million is anyone’s guess. Home Secretary Yvette Cooper now insists Labour hasn’t watered down its pledge to “deliver the meaningful change victims deserve” with the announcement of a “more flexible approach” involving the setting up of “victim-led panels”. Yet handing a pittance to the very local councils who seemingly turned a blind eye to these vile crimes for them to mark their own homework isn’t justice.
