Democrats’ crises begin to play out
in early Senate recruitment and first campaigns

Original Article

Democrats’ panic over what they stand for and whether they can credibly compete beyond the bluest states is already erupting in the rush to recruit Senate candidates across the country for next year — a desperate effort to dig out from years of losses that have them far from power at a moment they need it most. Will Democrats, indeed, compete everywhere in 2026? Will leaders allocate money even in tough races, or will they consolidate conservatively around their best bets? How will they handle what could be candidates who range from being aligned with Bernie Sanders to occasionally voting

Comments:

Dems big problem is they have to hide what they really believe while appeasing the far-left 'woke' base. That only works in the bluest of blue states.

A lot of delusional wishful thinking in this article. One section is captioned as "A huge opportunity for us to write a new Democratic Party". Is that because the "old" dem party favorability is hovering in the 20% range no matter what they do or say and with the failing media ALL IN for dems? Is that because wearing pink and carrying ping pong paddles didn't move the needle and instead made them look adolescent? Is it that the "leadership" from the last cycle, Biden, Kamala, Chucky, Walz, and others keep popping up and reminding us all how stupid they are? And there is the reality that with all they have tried to diminish Trump he is still polling above 50%. He has stopped the inflow of illegal immigrants (without any changes to the law). He has uncovered massive amounts of spending waste and fraud and is working to cut a trillion in spending WITHOUT affecting government services. He is taking out terrorists. He is loosening restrictions on fossil fuel production and prices are starting down and since the cost of energy is baked into almost everything, it will make a difference to inflation, which has dropped from ~3 to 2.4. In short, Trump has been successful , in just 3 months, in things that most matter to Americans. That is in stark contrast to the complete incompetence of the dems. THIS is what the dems have to fight against and it's unlikely they will do well.

They would have to admit to their sins. I don't think their egos could handle that. I'm hoping they stay on their America hating path and dissolve.

With AOC headed for the NY state Senatorial spot, the chance for a sane, if there is one, democrat to win that state's nomination is slim to none. Soros has it all paid for.. The Republicans need to make sure that chica doesn't get near being nominated.

The Dems have one hope to cling to. When the conservatives are in power, they typically screw things up.

WASHINGTON – Since the pandemic, federal student loan borrowers have been mostly protected from the harshest consequences of not paying back their loans. That's about to change, and quickly. Linda McMahon, the secretary of the U.S. Department of Education, said the federal government will resume involuntary collections for borrowers in default on May 5. In two weeks, loan holders will start the process of taking money from the paychecks of borrowers who've missed their payments for 270 days or more. They'll also start moving to collect from other federal payments, including tax refunds and Social Security benefits. The change, which McMahon

The Los Angeles Fire Department has shared a report outlining the impact that an increasing homeless population has had on its resources in recent years. (Snip) The report pointed out that the homeless population has “significantly increased,” placing an increased demand for emergency services on the LAFD. From 2018 to 2024, the unhoused population in Los Angeles has grown by 44.6% from 31,285 to 45,252 individuals, according to the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority. David Hogg is exactly what we expect from a citizen touched by unthinkable tragedy. Having survived the 2018 massacre at Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, he immediately dove into constructive political action, first on serious gun reform, and then within Democratic party politics, rising to his present position as DNC vice-chairman. Which makes it difficult to point out that his latest project couldn't be more ill-advised and, worse, incredibly ill-timed. It is a perfect example of something that is in the right place. but at the wrong time. From Politico: Leaders We Deserve, which Hogg co-founded in 2023, announced
