President Trump has spoken nicely about Vladimir Putin as he brokers a peace deal between Moscow and Kyiv, but he’s also gently letting Vlad know he’ll need to make some real concessions, too: Ukraine should get its land back. On Wednesday, Trump told reporters he aims “to make the best deal we can for both sides,” which “for Ukraine” means getting “as much back as possible.” Good. The Kremlin’s already bitten back at our president’s suggestion that Putin wouldn’t mind if some European troops serve in Ukraine to protect the peace; if it digs in on this front too,

This seems to be a sensible requirement. Rewarding imperialistic invasions is a very bad business.

How does one make Russia give back land? It's a good idea, but how can it happen? Also important, how does one keep Russia from invading its neighbors again? They have a history of doing this. They will probably do this again. Suspect many of Russia's neighbors are nervously looking over their shoulders.

Thanks to the USA's gift of $350,000,000 of our tax dollars to Ukraine, this war quickly became a war of attrition. Russia has 5 or 6 times as many people as Ukraine (not to mention allies -- like North Korea -- that are also willing to send troops to fight for Russia). So you do the math. Ukraine cannot win this war. The best they can hope for is a draw -- which is going to mean giving up some land for peace and "saving face". They have already lost large chunks of land, seen a massive percentage of their infrastructure destroyed, and lost a whole generation of young men. It's time to take that draw and rebuild for the future. No, it's not "fair", but you have to deal with reality. Russia can't lose this war. But they have also lost a lot of young men (probably more than Ukraine, but, as stated above, they have far more young men to lose) and decimated their weapons stockpiles. The rest of the world doesn't like them very much either. At this point, I'm betting they will take a draw as long as they can also claim a "moral victory" in stopping the war. President Trump is a pragmatist. He doesn't play political games. And he knows that this war is useless and evil for everyone concerned. It needs to end, and it needs to end now!!!!!

What #5 said, but add three zeros! We have a Dim party that can't put a fire out it's so incompetent, and they want to destroy all competence everywhere. The rest of us don't want to expand our role in NATO while the Europeans sit back and take a vacation. Russia will prevail when our money slows as it always does- look at history. Hundreds of thousands more will die and either we do in 2 years what could be done now or Putin takes all of Ukraine. Or Europe gives Zelinsky the big army he said he wants yesterday.

Mother Russia has always been somewhat paranoid and if you as a neighbor show belligeristic tendencies, FAFO. Z's demand that Ukraine be accepted into NATO triggered this and President Pudding Brain didn't shut him down at all. Russia invaded, but I've always only felt sorry for the average Ukranian citizen because their kleptocrat leaders weren't looking out for them, they were looking for the next score. Let Europe step in.....they helped start this.

Putin fully intended to do that all along. He's playing an end game. What he truly wants is the two sections of Ukraine that are mostly Russian and he wants a land bridge down to Crimea. Oh ... and no more NATO countries touching his border.

You can argue right and wrong all day long...but it still comes to this....it is not 3 years ago...it's 2025 and Ukraine needs America and that means President Trump...just as Putin understands The Trump Doctrine isn't perfect...but he wants to end the war too....and a reconstructed Ukraine looks good to the Russian people...who are now war weary as well...and their economy is tanking...and Putin ...unlike Zelinsky does not want to confront President Trump....

Immigration and Customs Enforcement will reopen a federal immigration detention center in Newark, New Jersey, that has a 1,000-bed capacity — the largest facility of its type on the East Coast. ICE announced Thursday that Delaney Hall will be the agency’s first detention center to open under the Trump administration, which has made cracking down on illegal immigration a top priority. “The location near an international airport streamlines logistics, and helps facilitate the timely processing of individuals in our custody as we pursue President Trump’s mandate to arrest, detain and remove illegal aliens from our communities,” acting ICE Director Caleb Vitello said in a statement.

In the US, in the past -- many people may have forgotten -- Iran was found guilty of supporting the 9/11 attacks.... Recently, Iranian state agents have been trying to murder senior US officials who served in the Trump administration, various dissidents, and Donald Trump himself. Iran has an interest in having Democrats re-elected as soon as possible. Even while Iran fired on US forces in the region more than 160 times just since October 7, 2023, the Biden administration never stopped being inordinately generous to Iran and compliant with its nuclear weapons program.B

Qatar is a small country of less than 5,000 square miles that wields enormous power due to its immense wealth, with which it has bought off politicians throughout Western Europe and North America. It has used its money to promote the jihadist Islam of the Muslim Brotherhood (M.B.) variety, along with anti-Western and antisemitic incitement. According to Dr. Udi Levy, former head of the Mossad’s Unit of Economic War against Terror, “Qatar has conquered Europe” and has great influence on some of the richest people in the U.S., many of them Jews, who lobby for this terror-supporting authoritarian regime.

By now, most Americans have probably heard of the Trump administration’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Spearheaded by Elon Musk, the watchdog group has been instrumental in identifying the institutional waste plaguing America’s vast and unaccountable federal bureaucracy. While DOGE has received much-deserved attention for its invaluable work, widespread bureaucratic waste is hardly an issue exclusive to the federal government. Across America’s 50 state governments, taxpayer money is similarly being used to subsidize profligate spending projects and feckless unelected bureaucrats whose interests often run counter to those of voters — even in states run by Republicans.

[T]he ultimate responsibility lay with USAID. The $40 million on the tarmac was part of a much larger scheme under which USAID and the State Department provided over $1.7 billion in funding to the UN, which then shipped $2.9 billion in cash to Afghanistan. Under the guise of humanitarian needs, $1.7 billion was provided to the UN, which used some of the money to buy dollars to fly into Afghanistan, to trade for Afghan currency, which the U.S. had also arranged to have printed on behalf of the Taliban. The cash is not provided to the Taliban or DAB by the UN, but by the groups funded by the UN.
