PROVIDENCE, R.I. — State leaders gathered Tuesday afternoon to push for an assault weapons ban in Rhode Island. Gun violence advocates highlighted tragedies like Parkland and Sandy Hook in their push for the ban. Governor Dan McKee said he was trying to push it through as part of the state budget this time, even as legislators bring it up the traditional way again in the General Assembly. “We were all elected to govern, and the number one job of elected officials in the United States of America is to provide for public safety,” Rep. Jason Knight (D-Dist. 67 Barrington, Warren) said. “Whatever else we’re here to do, that’s job one, we’re here to protect,”

Much like Hamas, leftists will just not give up until they are removed from all power and ground into the dust. Only then will the people have peace.

There are counties in the US larger than RI. Yet they have 2 senators and a rep. Seems like they should be absorbed by some of the other states. All "weapons" are assault weapons. That's why they are called weapons.

Born and raised in RI but got out in 1978 and would never go back. Too many liberals and people with empty minds who vote Democrat only. Jesus could run as a Republican in RI and he would lose 4:1. You get what you vote for and that is why it’s a dump.

Any object could be an assault weapon if it's used to attack someone. It doesn't have to be firing bullets.

The state's infrastructure is crumbling. It was just ranked as the worst state in the country in which to start a business. Capital of Providence schools are ranked near worst in the nation. Providence is also a sanctuary city which is now so overrun with crime that it's almost too unsafe to visit and businesses are closing left and right but this is what these clowns worry about?

Israel is considering a substantial strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities now that President Trump is in office and Joe Biden is out, according to a report citing US intelligence agencies. A strike could come sometime this year, with Israeli leaders feeling Trump is far more likely to back an attack on Iran than Biden ever was, the Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday. The intelligence came from an assessment compiled by the Biden administration in the final days of its existence. The report explained that the balance of military risks had shifted in the Middle East after Iran’s defenses had weakened following a year of war and proxy

Social media company X has agreed to pay about $10 million to settle a lawsuit by President Donald Trump, who has put X's billionaire owner Elon Musk in charge of a major government cost- and staff-cutting effort, The Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday. Trump had sued X, then known as Twitter, and its then-CEO Jack Dorsey in San Francisco federal court for deplatforming his account following the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol by his supporters. Twitter had cited the risk of Trump inciting further violence related to his effort to remain in the White House following his loss to former President Joe Biden in the 2020 election.

President Trump said Wednesday that he and Russian President Vladimir Putin have agreed to begin “negotiations” on ending the Ukraine war. In a post on Truth Social, Trump said they will “work together, very closely.” The president’s comments came shortly after Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth told NATO it is “unrealistic” to hope for a return to the version of Ukraine’s borders that existed before Russia annexed Crimea in 2014. Hegseth further said that the U.S. “does not believe that NATO membership for Ukraine is a realistic outcome for a negotiated settlement.”

NEW YORK — The White House blocked an Associated Press reporter from an event in the Oval Office on Tuesday after demanding the news agency alter its style on the Gulf of Mexico, which President Donald Trump has ordered renamed the Gulf of America. The reporter, whom the AP would not identify, tried to enter the White House event as usual Tuesday afternoon and was turned away. Later, a second AP reporter was barred from a late-evening event in the White House Diplomatic Room. The highly unusual ban, which Trump administration officials had threatened earlier Tuesday unless the AP changed the style on the Gulf, could have constitutional free-speech implications.
