WASHINGTON — President Trump proposed a US takeover of the Gaza Strip Tuesday night — shortly after suggesting removing “all” Palestinians living there.
“The US will take over the Gaza Strip, and we will do a job with it too,” Trump said at a press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
“We’ll own it and be responsible for dismantling all of the dangerous unexploded bombs and other weapons on the site, level the site, and get rid of the destroyed buildings — level it out and create an economic development that will supply unlimited numbers of jobs and housing for the people of the area.” (Photo)

Why don't the Palestinians, Iranians, Saudi, Quatar, & co. pay for Gaza. US taxpayers are not the world's insurer, and btw, we are not receiving any premium income.

The world asked what more Trump could do to them when he said there would be h*** to pay if the hostage weren't returned. Now they know.

I hope Trump knows something I don’t. He’s going to be dealing with Muslims. They’re liars. They’re crazy. If Gaza is rebuilt, we can’t let ANY of them back in.
If he expects to turn Gaza into the Paris of the Middle East, he’ll need to build a 12-foot electrified fence around it. Beirut used to be called the Paris of the Middle East - look at it now.

Just more Trump being Trump. Palestinians in Gaza won't want it; Egypt and the other Arab countries still want nothing to do with Ggaza.

I am reminded of the Beirut barracks bombing. Hope I am wrong.
Do we have the money for this?

Not sure about this. First sentence says Trump "proposed" a takeover. Until we hear more, it doesn't sound like a good idea to me. This reminds me of Lebanon in the 80's. The President is always saying that he wants peace, no more wars. This sounds like a precursor to a war. Why put Americans in an unfriendly region? I like Bibi, but he's itching for a war with Iran.

If Trump’s cards are played right, and at this stage that is almost impossible, Trump would have the USA take ownership of the Gaza Strip, then sell the land at a big profit to international billionaires with the proceeds going to the US Treasury, holding the international billionaire buyers responsible to rebuild the Gaza Strip into some sort of modernized Miami Beach. However, would the Islamists over there allow that to occur?

I will reserve judgement because it is Trump and so often he can think so far outside of the box that no one else can even imagine what he is planning.

Gaza is a a mess of collapsing infrastructure, burned out buildings, numerous tunnels, and unexploded ordinance. Even if we could convince everyone to leave and find countries willing to take them, it is a massive undertaking that will span years.

Europe and the US have taken in more Muslim refugees into their countries. The least Arab nations could do is take these Muslim refugees.

If the Arabs vacate and let the US have possession, it will be worth the money. Land and violence is the issue there. Money is relatively unimportant. As a sop to the Arabs agree with Israel that the IDF will withdraw and keep out.

Well, the reason we have Gaza aka the "Palestinians" is because their fellow Palestinians aka Jordanians were kicked out of Jordan because they're bunch of psychos. Hopefully Trump is in his own way - motivating the other Arab countries to help the Gazans but I agree with others. Not one more penny of aid (compliments of USAID?) into Gaza or any other Muslim hellhole.

The beautiful new Gaza built by us will be a sure target. Will never be safe. This is not our job. America first.

It's not how much is going to cost us, instead, how much will we save? We have poured untold $$$ bbb into that cesspool. It's a ME problem but none of them will do this ... maybe Iran or any of the bad actors would be willing to take it over. Israel certainly can't.

All the kneejerk reactions here are exactly why nothing ever gets fixed. Same old, same old, eh?
I suggest waiting a bit to see what the details are. If he can get the Arabs to come up with the money to rebuild it, the Palestinians resettled elsewhere and create a model area for that part of the Middle East, then it has a chance of being the start of a solution. He's trying a different kind of solution. Let's hear the details.

Give it back to Israel. It's their land to begin with--until they were forced to give it to the so-called "Palestinians."

Wow...now there's novel Idea...hadn't thought about that...but as a builder I can see what he's working towards...no more attacks on Israel...and a resort to become a riviera in the Middle East...so now the fake news has a narrative for the weekend...they are running out of nominations to rant about....this comes just in time for the Sunday talk shows no one watches anymore....and let's not forget the Friday night cocktail parties in the swamp....

No. 20 answered no. 1's question. The "Palestinians" tried to overthrow Jordan's king, and Jordan kicked them out. They caused trouble in Lebanon as well. They have caused trouble wherever they go, and that's why the Arab nations want nothing to do with them. They cannot live peacefully.

Oh - has anyone heard from former Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice about her support for a vote in Gaza back in 2006 in which the Gazans "elected" Hamas as their government? How'd that work out Condi? How clueless can one be - oh wait - she worked for George W. Bush.

Initially, reaction to this announcement is stunning thinking it too great a risk for this country in multitudinous ways; however, considering the question that has been raised about President Trump’s life having been spared by the incredibly close assassination attempt during his rally in Butler, Pennsylvania and possible Divine intervention, compounded by Scripture’s teaching that God selects heads of nations (intentional or permissive), it may be worth considering whether such a project might have been, in part, to serve such a purpose on behalf of Israel and America. “I will bless those who bless you...” (Genesis 12:3)

The proposed US takeover of the Gaza Strip: Think of it as a WHAT IF PROJECT. Then this makes sense.
Think big. Throw your opposition into confusion and then let it play out. President Trump is a master negotiator in business and real estate.

I'm with #14 and #23.
I can't but think of an analogy in a game of pool (billiards).
All the pieces are in a static array, packed in tight and not moving.
In comes the cue ball, hits and and scatters all the other ones all over the table.
Let the game begin!
