I grew up among people who worshipped the key pillars of the twentieth century Democratic Party: the New Deal, Franklin Roosevelt, and the great public works project known as New York City. The Democrats then were the party of progress—of new roads, bridges, ports, factories, and laboratories. They were also the party of national defense, a holdover from the triumph of World War II that was sustained by a fear of Communist aggression. But the Democratic Party’s recent evolution contrasts sharply to its glory days. Today, the Democrats are losing out among some of the party’s core constituencies, notably those who work with their hands

In this presidential election year, it is time to do the math. Not the traditional math of counting electors, calculating swing states voters, or debating polling data. No. It's time to do the math regarding the profound and stunning increase in the number of new citizens who will be eligible to vote in this year's exercise in democracy. According to the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) the fiscal year 2022 saw one million new citizens sworn in, citing it as the highest number of naturalizations in nearly 15 years.

Vice President Kamala Harris is expected to roll out her economic plan Friday during a speech in Raleigh, North Carolina. Early indications are it will have a progressive populist thrust, including attacks on corporate "price gouging," which conservative critics say is a smokescreen to deflect from the Biden-Harris administration's handling of inflation. Michael Tyler, the Harris-Walz campaign communications director, said on CNN's "Newsroom" Wednesday that Americans "can expect her to talk about the ways in which she wants to move this economy forward and lower costs for middle-class families," noting Harris "understands that for too many families, prices remain too high." Additionally, this week, the campaign insisted tackling inflation

The exact circumstances that led to President Joe Biden's dramatic withdrawal from the 2024 election race have been the topic of frenzied conversation for weeks. Ever since Biden tweeted his digitally signed letter announcing the decision on Sunday, June 21, the line from the White House has been clear: The president was not pushed. This was his choice alone. Sympathetic insiders described a weekend of 'reflection' for the president – who had recently tested postive for COVID and was holed up in isolation with his wife Jill and a handful of trusted aides at the Biden family home in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.

Democratic Vice Presidential candidate Governor Tim Walz has been caught in another lie, this time about tacos. In a recent video published by Walz and Kamala Harris, the Minnesota governor claimed he has “white guy tacos” and doesn’t use any seasoning besides pepper when he cooks tacos. The video immediately faced backlash due to the fact the Harris campaign is attempting to lean into the longstanding false stereotype that white people do not season their food. However, Walz’s claim that he uses no seasoning on his tacos is not true.

Political campaigns are all about trajectory. There’s point A and point B: Where you are today, and where you need to be in November. Your campaign plan bridges the gaps between those two points. Nothing more, nothing less. A campaign plan is a roadmap. But it’s a roadmap of wet, muddy terrain that’s constantly changing. Sometimes, new obstacles appear out of nowhere. And when the terrain changes, so must your roadmap — or you’ll get stuck. Since Biden dropped out, Donald Trump has been following the wrong roadmap and now he’s stuck in the wrong direction.

When discussing the media’s biases, we often talk about biases by omission or commission. But tonight we must also consider bias by zone-flooding, wherein the media avoid talking about something potentially detrimental to Democrats by backfilling newscast time with nonsense about Republicans. Consider tonight’s reporting on the presidential election, with maximum focus on the ongoing “Trump says mean things” cycle, which means less time devoted to Vice President Kamala Harris’s upcoming speech proposing price controls. Here’s NBC’s Garrett Haake: GARRETT HAAKE: And he was pressed about fellow Republicans calling for him to focus on Harris' record, instead of unleashing personal attacks.

The Biden-Harris administration’s inflation has destroyed wages as Americans know it, with the average U.S. worker experiencing a 3.9 percent pay cut since the Democrat duo first took office. Using an inflation scale adjusted to 1982-1984 dollars, the U.S. Bureau of Labor and Statistics revealed that average weekly earnings are currently $382.54, down from $397.90 on inauguration day in 2021. So, while Americans are paying over 21 percent more for groceries, 48 percent more for car insurance, and with significant increases in rent, electricity, and garbage services, they have experienced a 3.9 percent drop in real wages since Biden-Harris took over.
