In a historic move, Scientific American magazine has endorsed Democrat Vice President Kamala Harris for president — after having made its then-sole exception by endorsing Joe Biden in 2020 — citing science, healthcare, abortion, gun rights, technology, and climate action as key reasons.
On Monday, Scientific American, one of the oldest and most respected science publications in the U.S., made headlines by endorsing Kamala Harris for president. “Vote for Kamala Harris to Support Science, Health and the Environment,” the publication advocated.

Israel is suspected of remotely detonating thousands of walkie-talkie radios and other devices in a second wave of attacks targeting Hezbollah.
At least three people were killed in the east of Lebanon and more than 100 were wounded in the new explosions in southern Beirut, a Hezbollah stronghold, on Wednesday, Lebanon’s health ministry said.
Witnesses and Hezbollah officials said the explosions were as a result of the group’s walkie-talkies as well as motorbike radios and security locks blowing up across Lebanon. Sources told Lebanese news outlet L’Orient Today that devices were detonated inside cars, residential apartments and shops.

So-called shock jock Howard Stern declared on Monday that he doesn’t “hate” former President Trump, but he hates the “stupid” people who vote for him.
Then again, with a net worth of $650 million and his 5-year deal with Sirius, estimated to be worth as much as $100 million a year, set to expire at the end of this year, Stern understands that at the age of 70, his schtick has run its course and he doesn’t have to worry about turning off half the nation.
“This whole idea of you like me, you are good, and if you don’t, you are bad… I’ve been the victim of this,”

Is Kamala Harris drunk?
Kamala Harris on Tuesday participated in a Q&A with the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) in Philadelphia.
Of course, the moderators at the NABJ treated Kamala Harris much better than President Trump when he participated in a Q&A with them in Chicago in July.
Harris heavily slurred during a bizarre 5-minute rant about total nonsense on Tuesday.
Is she inebriated? Rumors are swirling about Kamala Harris having a serious drinking problem.

HARARE, Zimbabwe — Zimbabwe and Namibia have announced plans to slaughter hundreds of wild elephants and other animals to feed hunger-stricken residents amid severe drought conditions in the southern African countries.
Zimbabwe said Monday it would allow the killing of 200 elephants so that their meat can be distributed among needy communities, while in Namibia the killing of more than 700 wild animals — including 83 elephants — is under way as part of a plan announced three weeks ago.
Tinashe Farawo, a spokesman for the Zimbabwe National Parks and Wildlife Management Authority, said permits would be issued in needy communities to hunt elephants

The Federal Reserve cut interest rates Wednesday by the biggest amount since 2008.
Stock markets initally soared on the news - which is seen as a boost for the economy.
By slashing interest rates, the Fed has made borrowing money less expensive, taking some of the pressure off consumers' wallets. Experts say it will be a big boost to 401(K) balances too.
The cut of 0.5 percentage points is be biggest in 16 years. The Fed was forced to last take the drastic action in the Great Recession that began in 2008.
The Fed reacted to worse-than-expected economic data in the past month that casused stock markets to go red in August.

Hillary Clinton forcefully argued that Vice President Kamala Harris didn't need to clarify her policy positions in interviews and said that the 2024 Democratic candidate was facing a "double standard" from voters and the media.
"She does not have to do it, Kara. I'm going to just cut to the chase," Clinton told journalist and podcast host Kara Swisher on the "On with Kara Swisher" podcast this week.
"In fact, she's put out policies on her campaign website. Anybody who's truly interested can go and read about them. She referenced policies. She actually doesn't just have policies and concepts. She has plans about what to do," Clinton said,

Israel blew up thousands of two-way personal radios used by Hezbollah members in Lebanon in a second wave of an intelligence operation that started on Tuesday with the explosions of pager devices, two sources with knowledge of the operation told Axios. [snip] The Walkie Talkies were booby-trapped in advance by Israeli intelligence services and then delivered to Hezbollah as part of the militia's emergency communications system, which was supposed to be used during a war with Israel, the sources said.

Gas powered stoves in California could now come with a health warning label similar to what you'd find on a pack of cigarettes or other tobacco products, according to a new proposed law in the state. California lawmakers passed a bill at the end of August that would make it illegal to sell a gas stove that is manufactured or sold online on or after Jan. 1, 2025, or sold in a store, "unless the gas stove bears an adhesive label attached in a conspicuous location," according to the text of the bill. Gov. Gavin Newsom has until the end of September to sign the bill into law.

The International Brotherhood of Teamsters leadership has declined to endorse a U.S. president despite a recently released poll showing that a majority of the union’s members support President Donald Trump, the organization announced on Wednesday.
Teamsters have endorsed a Democratic nominee in every presidential race since 1996.
“Our mission as union representatives is clear: to be honest and upfront, to be inclusive and, above all, to be transparent with our membership. As the strongest and most democratic labor union in America,
