TEL AVIV, Israel — Norway, Ireland and Spain said Wednesday they would recognize a Palestinian state, a historic but largely symbolic move that further deepens Israel’s isolation more than seven months into its grinding war against Hamas in Gaza. Israel denounced the decisions and recalled its ambassadors to the three countries. Palestinian officials welcomed the announcements as an affirmation of their decades-long quest for statehood in east Jerusalem, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip — territories Israel seized in the 1967 Mideast war and still controls. While some 140 countries — more than two-thirds of the United Nations — recognize a Palestinian state, Wednesday’s cascade

Irish folk probably consider Israel's relationship with the Palestinians to be the same as England's relationship with the Irish. But it's like comparing Hondas to oranges.

If you conquer a land it is legitimately yours. Its been that way since cave men threw rocks and its that way today. Therefore, Israel belongs to Israel. Palestine has been conquered so many times nobody is even sure it ever existed. I dont care about either side, but Israel won.

The political stance taken by Ireland to recognize Palestine, a place does not exist as a county, most likely was the doing of the socialist Irish Government and not the majority of the Irish people.

Who will provide the land for this imaginary Palestinian state? Norway? Spain? Ireland? They are all for a Palestinian state as long as it is located in Israeli territory; far away from them. If they are so gung-ho to support a new country called Palestine, they are free to give up some of their land. Norway can gie up property near the Arctic Circle, far from civilization. Ireland can just give up the troublesome Northern Ireland territory and end that historic spat once and for all. Spain, who cares, what good has come out of Spain since the 1500's? Nobody would notice a missing chunk of land from Spain.

At least a dozen staffers at the left-wing character assassination outlet Media Matters for America were laid off today. Ordinarily, you could feel sorry for market forces putting people out of work, but that doesn't apply in this case. There probably haven't been this many deserving people at the unemployment office since the last left-wing media outlet failed. No one is talking about why the staffers were sent off to learn to code, but there is a strong suspicion that it is linked to a civil suit filed by tech billionaire Elon Musk. Media Matters went after advertisers on "X," the platform formerly known as Twitter, based on provably false claims

The local Fox 5 News station reported on how Democrats were going to try to gather up counter-protesters to come out for the Trump rally in the South Bronx. You knew that was likely to occur. But what's fascinating here is what anchor Rosanna Scotto says about it. Host Curt Menefee expresses the wish that "cooler heads prevail," hoping that there isn't any problem with the people being in the same area at the same time. Scotto said it looked like Trump was going to have "record crowds at the Bronx rally," which "is kind of unheard of for this area." She said the Democrats were trying to reach

The NCAA and the Big Ten Conference leadership approved a $2.8 billion groundbreaking settlement of antitrust claims that promises to usher in a chaotic and lucrative era in college sports. Four other conferences will have to approve the settlement for it to be formally approved. In House v. the NCAA, several former student-athletes who played before the 2021 agreement that allowed players to market their names, images, and likenesses (NIL) sued to recoup some of what they say they should have earned. The settlement could resolve three antitrust lawsuits against the NCAA worth $20 billion.

Former President Donald Trump has broken political norms by visiting one of the most deep-blue areas in New York City, a town not necessarily known for its kindness to Republicans. Trump rallied a crowd of what his campaign estimated to be 25,000 supporters at Crotona Park in the Bronx on Thursday, far more than the initial 3,500 it said were expected to attend. Those numbers appeared to also include those lined up outside the event. "I'm here tonight to declare we are going to turn New York City around, and we are going to turn it around very, very quickly," Trump said after taking the stage, vowing to bring back safety

Approximately 900,000 Palestinians have fled from Rafah this month following the Israeli military evacuation orders for parts of the city earlier this month. Israel’s military called for residents in eastern Rafah to evacuate on May 6, after Hamas launched a deadly attack from Rafah near the Kerem Shalom border crossing, which is the primary entry point for desperately needed humanitarian aid. The Hamas attack seemingly prompted the evacuation order after months of discussion between the Biden administration and Israeli leaders over a possible Rafah invasion. The Israel Defense Forces have carried out “more targeted and limited” operations in the densely populated Gaza City

Almost four years after the Hunter Biden laptop story was censored by social-media platforms and dismissed by ex-intelligence officials, the Justice Department is planning on using “self-authenticating” data from the laptop at Biden’s upcoming federal gun trial. Special counsel David Weiss’s team of prosecutors is asking a judge to allow them to use evidence from the laptop during the gun trial. They’ve also asked the judge to prevent Biden from casting doubt on the authenticity of the laptop, which federal investigators verified in late 2019, according to the Justice Department and IRS whistleblower Gary Shapley.

The Supreme Court upheld South Carolina’s congressional map Thursday, ruling that legitimate partisan aspirations rather than nefarious racial motives animated the district drawing process. Trump and Biden are tied in Nevada -- a good result for Biden, compared with both the recent New York Times poll showing him down double digits there, and the state average. Biden leads only in Michigan, and only by one point. As usual, the 'big three' midwestern states are extremely close,
