Goodbye America! A quarter of US adults
want their state to secede - Texans, Californians,
and New Yorkers are closest to the exit,
but can YOU guess which state wants out
the most?

Calls for Texas to secede from the US are growing louder, with advocates saying it could then stop migrant flows from Mexico without being hamstrung by the federal government.
The Lone Star state may have the country's noisiest secessionist movement, but it is not the most popular.
That label goes to Alaska, a new survey shows.Researchers found that more than a third of Alaskans — 36 percent — want the Last Frontier to call it a day and leave the union. (Photos) That's a more popular movement than the 31 percent of residents who seek a 'Texit,' as the departure of Texas is known.
It's not just Republican-leaning states

This country needs to get back to the constitution and the states take their authority back from the national government. Each state was meant to be sovereign unto itself. The Untied States was meant to be a union of individual states bound together for common defense and to facilitate trad between them. The twisting and contortion of the constitution over the years to take powers away from the states and make then subject to an illegal national government has led to this.
Eliminating the 17th amendment would be a great start.

As a multi-generational Texan, I do not want Texas to secede from the US. I had relatives die during the Texas Revolution and even more during WWI, WWII, and Korea. Of the WWII casualties, one is buried in Arlington National Cemetery and the other in the American Cemetery in Margraten, Netherlands. The grave in Margraten holds the entire crew, from 12 different states, of my uncle's B-17, shot down after a bombing raid over Hamburg, Germany. They were trying to make the North Sea to try and ditch and be picked up by allied naval assets, but crashed a bit short, across the border into Denmark, where the bodies were recovered by Danish farmers and buried together in a single grave, as the identification of individuals was not possible. After the war, they were re-interred, still together, in the Netherlands. With modern DNA testing, the Army offered to identify and send my uncle's remains back home but my father, a WWII/Korea/Vietnam vet, decided to leave his brother with his crewmates, as they had fought and died together after three years of war. My family is thoroughly "invested" in the US, with all but a few male members serving in the military and/or in law enforcement, and sees no advantage in seceding from our country, no matter how much we love Texas. If the huge divides within our nation aren't bridged, looking down the road, the US might go through a "divorce" between Red and Blue staters, but I doubt that will happen in my lifetime. The follow-on generations may have to deal with that - or worse, if there is to be another civil war.

Back in 1860 when some states tried this Abe Lincoln sent the federal army to prevent them from leaving. If, say, Texas left they would lose the NASA MSC, military bases, etc. You'd have to get a passport to visit Texas. They would have a separate currency. Also there's no exit procedure outlined in the Constitution. Far be it from me to tell others what to do. But, think about what you'd lose in addition to what you would gain.
