Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) said Monday on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” that Republicans are opposing the bipartisan border deal because they are “scared to death” of former President Donald Trump.
Schumer said, “It’s a turning point. History is going to look over our shoulders and say did we rise to the occasion. To his credit Mitch McConnell did, but too many Republicans including Speaker Johnson are just scared to death of Donald Trump. Donald Trump has said he wants chaos. Donald Trump has said, well, wait till I become president. That will take at least a year. Ukraine could be gone. The border will get much worse.

Time to learn a new song, Chuck. We've all heard this one and it's getting really boring.

The swamp way: 1. Create a problem. 2. "Rise to the occasion" and craft a bill that won't resolve the problem (but is loaded with goodies). 3. Blame the opposition for not passing your bill. Half the population falls for it, time after time.

If that were true, it's simply underscores how important it is to have a person like Trump. Someone not afraid to expose the ineptitude. What is there in the bill worthy of support? I've read it. Absolutely nothing. Unless your aim is to a) fund Ukraine and b) perpetuate immigration, there is nothing in the bill to support. It is not a 'border bill'. It does nothing to fix the issue. In fact it enshrines the status quo and makes everything orders of magnitude worse. They put 'border bill' on it in the same way they put 'affordable' on the 'care act' and 'reduction' on the 'inflation act'. Neither are accurate terms. In fact they are outright lies. Yet they tag the bills with it to persuade the idiots.

Valentine's Day and Easter are coming up. (Presents to be bought). And summer break in several months. We need to get those checks cut and deposited into our accounts. The border? We don't care and don't understand why the American people do?

Johnson and Trump are both heeding the will of the American people. McConnell and Schumer are not. That will soon become apparent tp any Senator who defies the American people by voting for this bill.

Hey Upchuck, here's an idea. Vote on the house immigration bill, Ukraine aid bill, and Israel aid bill all separately. Then we'll see who's afraid of who.

First, why the need for a bundled deal?
Separate all 3 out into separate bills.
The only thing Trump said was the proposal that was leaking out last week didn't look very good and the Republicans should hold out for a better deal.
In particular to make sure the border wall/barrier/fence was in place and secured with funding to ensure it would be completed and not later removed by the Democrats.
I sense the Democrats are scared of Schumer and the Progressive Left since you never hear any one of them have any concerns about the border deal he's pushing which likely means they know is VERY GOOD for their agenda.

I think the ones that are really afraid of Trump are Schumer and the corrupt Democrats.

Machiavelli advised in Chapter XVII was that it is best to be both loved and feared. Only when that ideal is not possible, such as when gratitude dissolves during threats to survival, did Machiavelli suggest fear is a more reliable way to inspire discipline than bonds of love.
Trump tried the first approach, now he'd be smart to go with Machiavelli's second choice.
