New research says that Apple's suppliers including iPhone manufacturer Foxconn have invested $16 billion since 2018, in an increasing plan to move or reshore manufacturing away from over-reliance on China.
Apple and most or all technology firms that have previously been entirely dependent on China, have been working to move away from that reliance, in part because of continued US/China trade tensions. In at least Apple's case, there have also been major delays in production because of China's COVID measures and its problems with power supply.

And yet.....Apple snuggles up to the vicious, warlike, Communist Party of China, best buddies forever.
I have never owned even a single Apple product, having had my fill of their totalitarian approach to computers in the 1980s, and much preferring the wide open, 'anyone can put their software on our computers' approach of the Microsoft/IBM PC "ecosystem". Apple's approach to their computer systems has been central planning at it's finest since the 1980s and has always offended me. Never have, never will have anything from this rotten company.

The President of FOXCON, Apple's biggest manufacturer and assembler, just announced he is running for President of Taiwan.
Expect China to hound Foxcon out of China. This will crash the IPhone supply chain.

The chicoms have had Apple in their back pocket for a good many years now. Apple's suppliers moving away from China at this level points to one thing - the chicoms are planning to boycott American companies as the risk of war with the US increases. Cook, this means your company, too, pal.
As an aside, another thing to watch for are companies reshoring out of Taiwan. Look for the chicoms to start blockading Taiwan's shipping channels and ports in the foreseeable future.

If there is any American company run by China, it is probably Apple, but even they are seeing the light. American companies moved their manufacturing to China in return they could sell their products there. Most likely, China stole all their technology and competed against them so they never made any true inroads in China.
Partnering with China is bad business. The American companies doing it don't benefit much if at all.

No wonder china is having economic problems...everyone is leaving china for points outside their control...not only Apple....with food in short supply...no wonder the peasants are starting to get unruly...and the XI regime is talking war...to keep the narrative going...I guess...

As soon as Apple dumps China, China will come out with an IPhone Clone, COUNT ON IT. They have Apples technology, that's the deal the Chicoms demand when Tech Companies do business with them!

Gordon Chang is a great source for all things Chicom. He describes one of the ways the Chicoms obtain technology and manufacturing. If a company wants to build a factory there, the Chicoms build the exact same factory nearby. If the original company closes,....oh, well.

Did someone remember to tell Kamala Harris what the Root Cause was? Darn those disruptions stemming from component supply, available labor pool, and/or government-mandated movement restrictions. Available labor pool must have gotten into kindergarten. Need to raise more kids, then.

They were fools to begin with for going there.
Never trust the Chicoms & only invest in China after they fall!
