Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows decided Thursday to remove Donald Trump from the state’s presidential ballot. Jared Golden, a Democratic congressman from Lewiston who voted to impeach Trump over the January 6th riots, quickly issued a statement: We are a nation of laws, therefore until he is actually found guilty of the crime of insurrection, he should be allowed on the ballot.

Sorry I mispelled "This" by leaving the "l" out ... much worse things have happened to our country "slowly and then all at once" so we must not let the "perfect be the enemy of the good." I am quoting Voltaire, not the failed Obama who (is still in power) I never voted for altho he has succeeded in a 3rd term to force our country into the ground also known as his promise to "fundamentally change" it. God help our country. And may 2024 somehow deliver us from this madness.

The crux of this matter is the fact that there was NO insurrection and NO riot. It never happened. He's never been charged. He's never been to trial. But she is happy with herself with her smug little smile.Typical uneducated democrat.

Ms. Bellows should maybe read the Constitution. The same 14th Amendment she thinks she can use to ban Trump from the ballot also guarantees him due process.

I am likely going to get myself into trouble with this statement... but here goes. Why is it WOMEN who are doing this? Are emotional needs and drives taking control of the wheel here instead of reason and logic? New York suit... woman. Fulton County, GA suit... woman. Colorado DQ... woman. Maine DQ... woman. Frankly, the wheels started coming off right about the same time as the suffrage movement succeeded. I know... everyone should be able to vote, but it sure seems that the average woman voter expresses more maternal instinct at the polls than men and that is the reason we now live in an ever-increasing nanny-state. The state is a nanny because maternal instincts have been expressed at the polls. Flame away. Just try do it with with logic and reasoning or it becomes just another piece of evidence.

Madame Bellows apparently visited the White House twice this year. Does anyone doubt she did this stunt with the blessings of the Vegetable in Chief?

A friend who fought as a Belgian soldier in the Congo wars told me that they learned a very hard lesson. "Shoot the women first, they are the most dangerous." It cost them a number of their soldiers killed when they hesitated when confronted with a woman in a firefight. Women can be extremely dangerous. Look at what they are doing to our country. A younger and more naive me was initially appalled at the thought of shooting women, but as he explained it in graphic detail, including the women who tortured captives to death, I started to become a bit less naive. I doubt that we can reverse this without bloodshed, and I very sincerely hope and pray that I am wrong about that.

What took place at the Capitol on January 6 was undoubtedly a politically motivated riot. As such, it should not be controversial to regard it as a dangerous episode. Any time force or violence is introduced into what ought to be the peaceful resolution of political conflicts, it should be lamented and condemned. But none of that justifies lying about what happened that day, especially by the news media. Condemning that riot does not allow, let alone require, echoing false claims in order to render the event more menacing and serious than it actually was.

A Maryland father wrongly deported to El Salvador and held in a notoriously violent prison told a U.S. senator that he was traumatized by the experience. Kilmar Abrego Garcia reported to Sen. Chris Van Hollen during a meeting in El Salvador that he was moved nine days ago from that country's Terrorism Confinement Center, or CECOT, to another facility with better conditions. Abrego Garcia said he had been traumatized by his time in CECOT and that he had been taunted by other prisoners. “He said he felt very sad about being in a prison because he had not committed any crimes,” Van Hollen said.

The Supreme Court on April 19 temporarily blocked the Trump administration from deporting an unspecified number of Venezuelan men currently in immigration custody who are alleged to be members of a criminal gang. The new, unsigned order granting the Venezuelans’ emergency application was issued on Saturday at about 12:55 a.m. Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito dissented. Alito’s reasoning will be added to the court’s file later, according to the order. “The Government is directed not to remove any member of the putative class of detainees from the United States until further order of this Court” the order states.
