Hundreds of thousands of demonstrators are expected to flood the National Mall in Washington, DC, on Tuesday in one of the largest pro-Israel protests since the Israel-Hamas war began five weeks ago. The “March for Israel” — organized by the Jewish Federations of North America and Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations — is billed as an opportunity for “Americans from all walks of life” to condemn rising antisemitism across the nation and to demand that Hamas finally release the hundreds of Israeli hostages it is hiding in Gaza. “Israel must eliminate the terrorist threat on its border and restore safety and security to its people.

Careful, demonstrators, be safe and stay away from the capitol building lest you become this year's J6 prisoners.

They will not be safe. And I mean "safe" in the traditional sense, as in safe from physical danger -- not in the "hurt feelings" way the word is used now.

The historic South Carolina city of Charleston has elected its first Republican mayor since the Reconstruction Era. William Cogswell, formerly a Republican state lawmaker, defeated incumbent Democratic Mayor John Tecklenburg by about 2 percentage points in Tuesday’s runoff, according to the South Carolina Election Commission. Results posted online by the commission showed a 569-vote margin separating the the two candidates. Cogswell, 48, had secured the most votes in the Nov. 7 general election but not a majority, meaning that he and Tecklenburg headed to Tuesday’s runoff.

Anti-Islam populist Geert Wilders said Thursday that he is ready to join the next Dutch coalition government after he surged to a huge election victory that marked a stunning lurch to the far right for a nation once famed as a beacon of tolerance. The result is sending shockwaves through Europe, where extremist nationalist ideology is putting pressure on democracies that now face the possibility of having to deal with the first far-right prime minister of the Netherlands. “It is going to happen that the PVV is in the next Cabinet,” Wilders said, using the Dutch abbreviation for his Party for Freedom.

Most Americans are familiar with the Pilgrim's Thanksgiving Feast of 1621, but few realize that it was not the first festival of its kind in North America. Long before Europeans set foot in the Americas, native peoples sought to insure a good harvest with dances and rituals such as the Green Corn Dance of the Cherokees. The first Thanksgiving service known to be held by Europeans in North America occurred on May 27, 1578, in Newfoundland, although earlier Church-type services were probably held by Spaniards in La Florida.

In 1949, the trailblazing anti-racist musical “South Pacific”––created by composer Richard Rodgers and lyricist Oscar Hammerstein II––debuted on Broadway to wild critical acclaim, running for over five years in nearly 2,000 performances. A particularly powerful and influential song from the musical, “You’ve Got to Be Carefully Taught,” carried the message that hatred does not arise spontaneously in the human species, but rather is inculcated––taught, sermonized, infused––by parents, teachers, coaches, political figures or other impassioned haters. Here are the still-relevant lyrics:

Sixteen pro-Palestinian protesters were arrested Friday after they barged into News Corps’ Manhattan headquarters – which is home to The New York Post newsroom – and occupied the lobby, chanting, “Free Palestine.” The disruptive demonstration came just two days after News Corp was highlighted on a disturbing map calling for “direct action” to “globalize intifada.” “One, two, three, four … occupation no more!” the group chanted outside the Midtown building, while several attendees waved Palestinian flags and signs, video shows. “Five, six, seven, eight … Israel is a terrorist state!” they continued under the direction of a man shouting into a megaphone.

A somber-looking Donald Trump led his family and dozens of other people in mourning his sister, retired Judge Maryanne Trump Barry, at her Upper East Side funeral Friday. The ex-president, his wife, Melania, and his children Don Jr., Eric and Ivanka were seen waiting on the sidewalk in front of St. Ignatius of Loyola Church on Park Avenue around East 84th Street in Manhattan to greet the black Cadillac hearse carrying the coffin of the Queens native and former no-nonsense federal judge and assistant US attorney, who died Nov. 13 at age 86. As the hearse pulled up to the church, the Trump family embraced until Trump Barry’s coffin emerged,

A Michigan judge on Tuesday dismissed an effort to keep former President Donald Trump off the state’s ballot in 2024. The judge said that under Michigan law, the secretary of state does not have the authority to intervene in a primary election if the party chooses to list a candidate who would not qualify for the office. “The ultimate decision is made by the respective political party, with the consent of the listed candidate,” the judge wrote. The decision comes after a group of Michigan voters in September filed a legal challenge to Trump’s candidacy,

In the post-World War II era, Democrats were labeled as the political party that represented average Americans. Democrats were credited with fighting for the rights of the working-class, minorities, women, and the disadvantaged. In contrast, the Republicans were supposedly the party of the country club elitists, the Chamber of Commerce, and the business tycoons looking to garner favors from the government. These generalizations may have resembled the truth through the years of Republican presidential nominees such as George H.W. Bush, Bob Dole, George W. Bush, John McCain, and Mitt Romney. However, in the last eight years, since Donald Trump became the leading Republican, the political parties have switched roles. Today,

This time it comes from the National Transportation Safety Board and it involves outsiders having control of the gas pedal in your car. While you’re driving, of course. The proposal from the NTSB is to install “intelligent speed assistance” tech in all cars, a system that uses a car’s GPS location and local speed limit postings “to help ensure safe and legal speeds.” What the NTSB wants is to require systems that “warn” when a driver is speeding,
