That Hunter Probe Slow-Walked, as Nadler

Looks like the Democrats and the media are already trying to spin evidence that's been coming out in the Hunter Biden probe. I wrote earlier about how Rep. Scott Perry (R-PA) dropped some reality on a reporter trying to say that Americans didn't see the "evidence" against Joe Biden. There's some new information being reported concerning the transcript out of testimony of FBI Agent Thomas Sobocinski regarding the probe into Hunter Biden. That information is not good for the Democrats and the Bidens. House Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Jerry Nadler (D-NY), citing The Washington Post, was already trying to spin

Au contrair, the Dems haven't yet tossed their most serious charge against Pres Trump. It's a RICO, conspiracy and cover-up charge that Trump conspired with his hotel maids to tear off those "Do Not Remove Under Penalty of Federal Law" tags off his hotel mattresses. I gotta think by now they've been able to get one of those hotel maids to turn on him. But they've been pretty tough so far.

I liked Nadler a lot better when I'd never heard of him and he was just another Humpty Dumpty looking crook in the group pictures. Now I'd unplug his life support to charge a cell phone.

Nadler is good at spinning. He has a large mass near the axis of rotation.

UAW launches strike against Big 3 automakers 9 replies

A union representing nearly 150,000 autoworkers launched a strike early Friday morning against the Big 3 U.S. automakers -- General Motors, Ford and Stellantis. The United Auto Workers, or UAW, and the car manufacturers failed to reach a contract agreement before a deadline set by the union for Thursday at 11:59 p.m. ET. Less than two hours before the deadline, UAW president Shawn Fain announced the plants where union members would strike if a tentative agreement wasn't reached in time. By midnight Friday, that amounted to approximately 12,700 union workers, including ones at GM in Wentzville, Missouri; Stellantis in Toledo, Ohio; and Ford’s Wayne, Michigan plant.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) signed a bill Wednesday that officially ends the state’s ban on official travel to conservative states that had enacted laws that Democrats claim are anti-LGBTQ. The ban had been a total failure. The Sacramento Bee reported: Gov. Gavin Newsom on Wednesday signed Senate Bill 447 into law, ending the seven-year-old travel ban that prohibited state money from being used to pay for travel to states with anti-LGBTQ laws. The ban caused difficulties for many state agencies, researchers, student athletes and others who rely on state money. Even supporters of the ban acknowledged that the law was not having the deterrent effect it was intended to
White House Is Running Scared From Impeachment Talks 7 replies

When you look past the faux bravado and lame talking points from the White House, it’s quite clear they are panicking over this impeachment inquiry. I can’t blame them; they likely never believed that House Speaker McCarthy would ever get behind it — and for a long time, he wasn’t behind it at all. For sure, there were some rogue efforts to impeach Biden early on, but they weren’t serious. But Biden came into office with the dark cloud of his $1 billion Ukraine quid pro quo hanging over him, and House Republicans followed the breadcrumbs to a trove of evidence that made it impossible not to launch

X (formerly Twitter) owner Elon Musk says the platform should be for moderate Americans, not just leftists. The All In Podcast, which is hosted by David Sacks, Chamath Palihapitiya, Jason Calacanis, and David Friedberg, posted an interview they did with Elon Musk at the All In Summit. During the interview, Musk noted that, in the past, social media has all been “very left-leaning to far left-leaning,” suspending Republicans far more than leftists. He also expressed his goal of changing that online monopoly. The X owner and billionaire said that “The suspensions of several Republican candidates, interests, or voices were at least ten times the rate of—suppression of left-wing voices.”

Today the NY Times published a story about the big business of moving migrants from South America through an area called the Darién gap. Every step through the jungle, there is money to be made. The boat ride to reach the rainforest: $40. A guide on the treacherous route once you start walking: $170. A porter to carry your backpack over the muddy mountains: $100. A plate of chicken and rice after arduous climbing: $10. Special, all-inclusive packages to make the perilous slog faster and more bearable, with tents, boots and other necessities: $500, or more. Hundreds of thousands of migrants are now pouring through a sliver
Trump Reveals Dilemma He Faced on Pardoning Himself 2 replies

Former President Donald Trump says that he avoided "even thinking about" preemptively pardoning himself before leaving office in 2021. Trump has pleaded not guilty to 91 felony charges this year while campaigning as the leading Republican candidate in the 2024 presidential race. The ex-president claims to be the victim of a political "witch hunt," insisting that the charges amount to "election interference." In preview clip released on Thursday and taken from Trump's coming interview on NBC's flagship Sunday morning show Meet the Press, the former president told host Kristen Welker that he declined to pardon himself following his 2020 defeat to President Joe Biden, despite receiving some advice to do so.

US President Joe Biden plans to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky next week around the United Nations General Assembly meetings, according to multiple officials familiar with the plans. It remained unclear whether the meeting would occur in New York or later in the week at the White House. One source familiar with the matter told CNN that Zelensky is expected to travel to Washington, DC, after his stop in New York. Biden and Zelensky are both scheduled to address the assembly on Tuesday. Zelensky is planning to use an in-person appearance at the annual meeting to appeal for more support for Ukraine as it continues to wage a counteroffensive against Russia.

Florida governor Ron DeSantis is recommending state residents under the age of 65 avoid new Covid-19 booster shots created by Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna, bucking recommendations by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. On Tuesday, the CDC advised Americans six months and older who have not gotten a Covid-19 booster shot within the previous two months to get one as a precautionary measure to protect against a new subvariant of the Omicron virus strain, XBB.1.5. “What I have directed our department to do is to provide guidance that really recommends and advises against the use of these mRNA Covid-19 vaccines for anyone under 65,” Florida’s surgeon general, Dr. Joseph Ladapo, said

In an interview on Thursday, former president Donald Trump refused to clarify if he was holding a newspaper or a secret attack plan during a meeting at his New Jersey resort that has become a key piece of evidence in his indictment over mishandling of classified documents. During an interview with Trump for her SiriusXM show, Megyn Kelly asked him about an audio recording of the 2021 meeting when he allegedly showed a writer, a publisher, and two of his staff members “some sort of document that you described as secret.” The recording indicates that Trump was holding a classified Pentagon plan to attack Iran. The suspension of the tax took effect at midnight this morning and will go through October 12th, 2023. This move will save everyone buying gas in Georgia approximately 29 cents per gallon. Kemp has suspended the state's gas tax before, and that suspension lasted for 10 months when it was in effect from March to December of 2022.

The pre-dawn strike highlighted Kyiv’s growing missile capabilities as Russia continues to bombard Ukraine from afar with long-range missiles and assault drones. “We confirm a large landing vessel and submarine were hit. We do not comment on the means [used] for the strike,”

Ho hum. The debacle in Albuquerque is both boring and amusing. On September 8, New Mexico Governor Lujan Grisham announced a “public health emergency” 30-day ban on carrying firearms in the City of Albuquerque with the threat she would extend it further if she so chooses. Why boring? Because the outcome of this silly move was determined from the git-go. Why amusing? Many of us smile, snicker, and yawn. It’s amusing because the follow-up to the Governor’s declaration developed according to the established pattern. The Chief of Police of Albuquerque, the Sheriff of Bernalillo County, and the Attorney General of the State of New Mexico have all announced

Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) isn’t high on Kamala Harris as vice president, and her recent remarks might have revealed how most Democrats feel about the other half of the 2024 ticket. The California liberal and former House Speaker even went so far as to insinuate that her true feelings wouldn’t matter, as the office of the VP doesn’t do much. Technically, that is true, as most times, we don’t have to worry about the VP since the president usually can do the job. Biden cannot—and it’s a bit alarming thinking about Harris in charge and control of the nuclear arsenal (via Fox News):

Phillip pointed out to the Chicago Teachers Union (CTU) leader that she has compared private schools to the “segregation academies” of the civil rights-era south. She then asked Davis Gates why she would send her own son to a private school if she holds such a negative opinion of them. “I didn’t speak out against private schools. I spoke out against school choice. School choice and private schools are two different entities,” Davis Gates said.
