COLUMBUS — The fraught politics of abortion have helped turn an August ballot question in Ohio that would make it harder to change the state constitution into a cauldron of misinformation and fear-mongering. State Issue 1, the sole question on the ballot, calls for raising the threshold for passing future changes to the Ohio Constitution from a simple majority to 60%. Starting next year, it also would double the number of counties where signatures must be gathered, from 44 to all 88, and do away with the 10-day grace period for closing gaps in the total valid signatures submitted.

“Fox Giving” is an app in the company portal that facilitates charitable donations via the Canadian-based donation management platform Benevity. Fox will apparently match donations up to $1,000 to various organizations that satisfy the company’s criteria.
While on its face, this appears to be little more than an attempt at corporate beneficence, the company is willing to match donations to the Satanic Temple, the Trevor Project, Planned Parenthood (and local Planned Parenthood branches), and the Southern Poverty Law Center – radical leftist groups antipathetic to conservatives and the values they hold most dear. …

Sen. J.D. Vance has introduced legislation that would make gender-reassignment treatments for minors a federal crime. Mr. Vance’s bill, the Protect Children’s Innocence Act, would ban gender-transition surgeries, puberty blockers, hormone treatments and other transgender-related medical care from being provided to minors. People that administer gender-change treatments to children would be charged with a federal class C felony, which carries a sentence of 10 to 25 years in prison. (Snip) “With this legislation, we have an opportunity to save countless young Americans from a lifetime of suffering and regret.”

A Nobel Prize-winning physicist has criticized alarmist climate predictions and said that he does not believe that there is a climate crisis. During his speech at the “Quantum Korea 2023” event, Dr. John Clauser said, “I don’t believe there is a climate crisis,” according to a report by Seoul Economic Daily that has been translated into English by the CO2 Coalition. Clauser added that “key processes are exaggerated and misunderstood by approximately 200 times” and accused the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) of spreading misinformation.

Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert said after the Secret Service briefing Thursday on cocaine found July 2 at the White House that drugs have been found two other times since last year in the building. (Snip) Boebert said the drug found twice before in roughly the past year was marijuana and that she thinks the Secret Service closed the investigation without a suspect "because everything in this administration is about covering up for the Biden crime family." "This is the third time that drugs have been found on the White House property since 2022, and we did not even hear about the marijuana," she also said.

The Secret Service is closing the investigation into the White House cocaine discovery because of a 'lack of evidence' in a stunning move just 11 days after the drugs were abandoned in a West Wing locker. Furious Republicans have called the shuttering of the probe 'ridiculous' and accused the Biden administration of a 'cover-up,' with agents unable to find a suspect despite poring over surveillance footage for more than a week.(Snip)Trump-era CBP Director and longtime FBI agent Mark Morgan told DailyMail.com last week that the case is 'straightforward' and could be solved in the matter of 30 minutes.

This sort of thing is becoming way too common. How are parents not completely losing their minds? Schools are actively trying to hide things from them.[Snip]Columbus City Schools (CCS) shelled out more than $24,000 taxpayer dollars to a consulting firm that taught staff how to sneak radical gender ideology into classrooms without parents’ permission, a public records request made by Parents Defending Education revealed. The two-day training in September 2022 was conducted by Q-inclusion, now known as “Hey Wes,” an organization led by a woman disguised as a man that boasts of partnering “with schools, healthcare clinics, businesses, and communities in order to support queer & trans belonging.”

A U.S. Senator expressed concerns about universities defying a recent Supreme Court decision on college admissions, including demanding they retain records “in anticipating of future congressional investigations.” Oberlin College, Kenyon College and several Ivy League institutions were the targets of a letter by Sen. JD Vance, R-Cincinnati, demanding they comply with the Supreme Court’s ruling overturning affirmative action.(Snip)Hours after the ruling, Oberlin College President Carmen Twillie Ambar said the decision would not dissuade her institution from valuing diversity on campus.(Snip) In a statement, Director of Media Relations Andrea Simakis said the college is reviewing the Supreme Court’s decision to “fully understand its implications,”
Comments:
Opponents of Issue 1 are playing on voters’ fears about the 60% threshold. Amendments to the U.S.Constitution requires a two-thirds vote; Ohio currently requires 50%-plus-one majority. In 1912, Ohioans overwhelmingly voted to set the lower threshold as a response to rampant political corruption; currently, many public and private organizations require more than 50% approval to amend bylaws or constitutions and the Ohio Democrat Party requires a 60% vote to amend its bylaws. To amend Ohio’s constitution should meet a higher standard than the current requirements plus end adding signatures to an initiative petition once it has been submitted to the Secretary of State.
