Francis Fukuyama: End of Putin's history
could come 'in the next few months'

Original Article

Russian President Vladimir Putin could lose his grip on power within months, according to a prominent international relations theorist and a top analyst of Russia's security networks. “I would not be at all surprised if that regime comes tumbling down, you know, in the next few months,” Stanford University’s Francis Fukuyama said Wednesday at the Aspen Security Forum. If the end of Putin’s history proves to be at hand, it may serve as a cautionary tale of the incompetence that autocratic rule can produce in the absence of a robust debate, he suggested.

“If”. “It may.” “I would not be surprised.” “Could come.” Now there’s some incisive and hard-hitting prognostication. This Fukuyama dude is a political farce to be reckoned with.

Article could also read: American President Joe Biden could lose his grip on power in the coming months…... “I would not be at all surprised if that Biden regime comes tumbling down, you know, in the next few months.” Biden’s blatant corruption, stunning dishonesty, divisive policies and dementia would require his removal in a free country. Sadly, we are little different from Russia when it comes to holding our “leaders” responsible for their actions.

Or perhaps Putin is working with his Chinese buddies to weaken the USA and as such, is going nowhere. He drains us financially and militarily, while China sends drugs over to kill our citizens, as well as keeping up the cyber attacks. Or maybe I have read too many Allen Drury novels. Time will tell.

Dictators generally seem to be solidly in power right up to the day that their praetorian guard hauls them out into the courtyard or the woods and shoots them. Think Czar Nicholas or Romania's Ceaușescu. IIRC an esteemed commenter here was in Romania at the time. I have no idea if Putin is on thin ice or not, but, like most dictators he has ruled through an appearance of unbeatable, unchallengeable power. And the events where Prigozhin had an armored Wagner column marching half way to Moscow and shooting down four or five Russian attack helos that tried to stop it, then getting apparently absolutely nothing done in reply....that doesn't look exactly like "unbeatable, unchallengeable power" any more. The large numbers of Russian citizens acting friendly and providing food and water to Wagner troops as they took over the regional military power center of Rostov...that doesn't look much like massive support for Putin and opposition to "some other guy" from the average Russian citizens. Perhaps Putin is no longer see as "the guy" that no one can mess with? What does it all mean? I don't attempt to read the Russian chai leaves in any detail, but Putin doesn't seem to be quite as "irreplaceable" today is he did 3 or 4 years ago. Like everyone else, I'll wait and see.

A previous senior adviser to former President Barack Obama is warning Democrats about a potential threat to President Biden's re-election campaign from third-party candidates like Cornel West, a 2024 Green Party presidential candidate. David Axelrod, who served as a top adviser to Obama for two years in the White House before becoming the senior strategist for Obama's successful 2012 re-election campaign, is questioning "why alarm bells aren’t going off" for Democrats amid mounting concern over West's candidacy in the race.

A famous clip from recent history: “I’m leaving in six hours. If the prosecutor’s not fired, you’re not getting the money. Well, son of a b***h, he got fired.” That was Joe Biden in 2016. He was relaxing among friends at a chummy event at the Council on Foreign Relations. Ha, ha, ha, tittered the appreciative audience. What a lark! Here was a former vice president of the United States bragging about how he (naughty word) blackmailed an official from a foreign government who was investigating the company on whose board Joe Biden’s son sat.

Gov. Ron DeSantis said the mainstream media has overblown the significance of the January 6, 2021 riot at the U.S. Capitol during an interview Friday with Russell Brand. RON DESANTIS: I think it is ridiculous how much money they pumped in for the Capitol Police. This was not an insurrection. These were people that were there to attend a rally and protest. President Biden and his son Hunter allegedly "coerced" Burisma CEO Mykola Zlochevsky to pay them millions of dollars in exchange for their help in getting the Ukrainian prosecutor investigating the company fired, according to allegations contained in an unclassified FBI document released Thursday by Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa. Grassley said he had released the document so that the American people can "read this document for themselves without the filter of politicians or bureaucrats." The document is an FBI-generated FD-1023 form, which Grassley acquired through legally protected disclosures by Department of Justice whistleblowers, according to the senator's office.

In Wednesday’s marathon House hearing, Oversight Committee Democrats ran into a buzzsaw: two IRS whistleblower agents – Gary Shapley, the supervisor on the investigation who went public a few weeks ago, and Joseph Ziegler, the lead investigator on the case, who was publicly identified for the first time at the hearing. In gory detail, the agents outlined how President Joe Biden’s Justice Department quashed the Biden corruption investigation from within while publicly pretending that it was being conducted with independence and integrity. When committee Democrats tried to poke holes in the testimony, they ended up on the receiving end of what they hadn’t bargained for: fusillades of fact

One of the most basic lessons that we teach law students is that you should “never ask a question you don’t know the answer to.” The peril of the poorly crafted question was on display in Wednesday’s hearing with two whistleblowers on political interference in the Hunter Biden investigation. Most Democrats avoided any questions on the substance of the allegations, focusing instead on everything from systemic racism to the use of the term “two-tiered system of justice” and, of course, Donald Trump. Rep. Dan Goldman (D-NY) often goes where wiser members fear to tread.

Wow, big news broke Tuesday – President Biden’s campaign is officially going to be headquartered in Wilmington, Delaware. For months nervous Democrats have wondered why Biden only had four full-time staffers devoted to his reelection effort and why the campaign wasn’t yet located anywhere. This development will do absolutely nothing, however, to stop the panic within the party that Biden is too old to run for reelection and could easily lose to former President Donald Trump. Sorry, Team Biden, these fears will not be put to rest; they are going to persist and grow.

Assume you are the attorney general of the United States and have a devilish desire to persuade as many Americans as possible that they should not trust their government. How would you do that? If your name is Merrick Garland, the answer is a two-fold plan of attack. On one hand, you give the corrupt son of your boss every possible break, bend the rules to protect him and hand him a get-out-of-jail-free pass. The sweetheart deal also serves another purpose. Because you definitely don’t want anyone to know to what extent your boss was involved in the family’s influence-peddling schemes, the son’s guilty plea to fairly minor crimes slams the door

Every climate gloomster has one thing in common: when it comes to their grim predictions for the planet, they’re all batting zero. A lot of them also seem to ignore actual climate-related emergencies, like the ongoing train derailment trauma in East Palestine, Ohio, where residents suffered vomiting, rashes, nose-bleeds, and bronchitis as they watched their pets and livestock die.
