Native American groups are now joining the call for reparations centuries after hundreds of tribes had land taken from them by 'land-grab universities and colleges.'
An estimated 10.7 million acres of land was taken from 250 tribes following the signing of the Morrill Act by President Abraham Lincoln in 1862.
This law converted tribal lands into initial sites for land-grant higher education institutions in many states. Institutions such as the University of Minnesota, which received 94,440 acres of land, and Cornell University in New York that received more than 987,000 acres are being targeted. Cornell, in total, received land in 15 states -

If the Indian tribes have a valid treaty that has been violated, then that's a legitimate issue that they might well win in court. If not, tough rocks. My Scottish ancestors got treated badly, too. So did the Irish and the Italian immigrants. Get over it.
You're nothing special, kiss my butt.

Where the Indians are referring to "sacred lands" that were wild and unoccupied and settled by pioneers they can take a hike.
But, I'm sorry, where they're referring to signed treaties that were reneged by whites according to the principles of English Common Law which this country imposed and then ignored, they have a case.
If there is a sound defense of the those contractual breaches I never heard it nor do I know the remedy since the injured party was awarded money and refused it.
Descendants of slaves have no legal justification for redress for many reasons and in any case they are now US citizens with rights and privileges. Which is all the COTUS guarantees you.

My ancestors were treated pretty badly. They had to leave Maryland and head west so they could practice their faith. I don't hold a grudge.

Maybe the casino Indians would like to share the wealth to those of us who are less fortunate. Ha! Dream on.

Seminoles own many casinos and all of the Hard Rocks and they share the profits with everybody who has Seminole blood. They're wise in their ways. Seminoles were never defeated by government forces.

Everyone in this country with ancestors who were treated badly should demand reparations.
We can form a line and take numbers.

See, more than one race can play that game. The whiners are not all cut of the same cloth. My ancestors worked in the coal mines, meat packing plants and some were wounded and died in the World Wars. The point is, they worked.

Most Americans can conjure up a grievance of some kind based on their ancestry. The constantly whining never enough Blacks were not counting on sharing their permanent victim status with other minorities. It may dilute the money supply. Their reaction to this curve will be interesting.

What BS.
Iriquoise, Aztec, Inca were the only extent, long term nation's in America when Europeans arrived. They had held their lands for several hundred years. All other tribes migrated, fought and displaced each other on a regular basis. The Spanish obliterated the Aztec and Inca cultures. The English and French were less genocidal, but the Iriquoise eventual mingled. If you look at history, it was the political factions that formed the Democrat Party that pushed slavery.

How much in reparations have we paid, do we owe, to the French, Spanish, English, Dutch, and Confederates?
All were defeated at one point or another by the eventual permanent colonies/states/Nation...and nearly all of the complaining tribes fought on THEIR sides....the losing side.
I do think it is a good question of WHY Cornell has some much land in so MANY states.(Likely because it has AG schools in all of them, and the land grants fund those, by it's very nature agriculture and animal husbandry, as well as forestry take up much more land than Math/sciences...much much more than polisci and social studies.)

Seems like to some people (religions, alleged indigenous people), every rock, tree, river, lake, mountain has some "sacred" or religious importance and must be returned or not touched/used by the White man. Doesn't matter if it really is important, the fact that they claim it did thousands of years ago, is enough to get people to jump so they don't seem uncaring about something that might not be true. The white guilt industry is thriving and many minorities / religions / so-called indigenous people know how to use this against them.
