Homeowners are sitting on a negative equity timebomb after losing $108.4 billion on their property values this year, experts say. The average borrower saw their home equity plummet by $5,400 in the first quarter of 2023 compared to last year - with households in Washington, California and Utah worst affected. And if prices tumble by 5 percent more than 200,000 households could be at risk of falling into negative equity - otherwise known as 'going underwater' on their home loans.

My nephew was in from the west, he said that commercial real estate is dead and the crash already hit. Downtown Portland looks like a zombie movie. Two things the LSM is not reporting. The worst is yet to come.

After several years of high valuation growth, a little bit of loss here should matter little. 140 million housing units, 200,000 ar risk is a trifle. Downtown commercial real estate is another matter, a result of both decaying social conditions and the cost savings from at home workers.

Mines 100% equity, worth nearly three times what I paid for it...cash at a tax sale from someone who got upside down and walked away from it the LAST time this happened. My sole regret at this point is that I didn't take some of that equity out when interest rates were 3% or less, and buy gold with it. 30% growth on 2016 money borrowed at 3%, with an inflation rate twice that, reducing what it costs to pay it back? Still...the neighborhood I bought it in is still on an upswing, another 3% since jan. Houses are only on the market a day or 3, and often selling for more than the ask. Starting over the winter/spring I'll be finalizing plans building a spec house on the extra lot out back...aimed at the sweetspot of the local market $300-400k. I built homes for a living before '08, have plenty of plans in hand, make some minor changes, be the primary contractor, hire subs between their regular jobs, do the energy/insulation/solar stuff that garners the greatest grant matching money or rebates, harvest every dime.

ATLANTA – House Republicans have introduced a bill aimed at securing election integrity across the country while also issuing a stark warning to Americans to watch out for possible Democrat deception surrounding the legislation. Five Republican members of the Committee on House Administration (CHA) held a press conference at the famous Marietta Diner near Atlanta on Monday to officially roll out the American Confidence in Elections (ACE) Act, something they say will give states the tools they need to not only protect the integrity of their elections, but also restore voter confidence in the elections process. The bill includes a photo ID requirement to cast a federal election ballot, bars non-citizens

Grand jurors who will consider charges against President Trump in Georgia will be selected on Tuesday. Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis recently said she will announce this summer whether she will charge Trump with crimes in the investigation into Trump’s effort to challenge Georgia’s 2020 presidential election results. Fani Willis told the Fulton County Sheriff to prepare for increased security at the Fulton County Courthouse between July 11 and September 1. It appears Willis is expecting the grand jury to unseal indictments against Trump in August.

Donald Trump's lawyers want to delay his trial in the classified doc case for an undetermined amount of time and suggest the case might not be ready until after the 2024 presidential election. The former president's lawyers asked the Florida judge late Monday night to give them more time before his trial on allegations of mishandling the docs, arguing the unprecedented case requires 'a measured consideration and timeline.' An initial trial date was set by Judge Aileen Cannon of August 14. Prosecutors then asked for that date to be pushed to December, to give Trump's legal team the time needed to get the required security clearances.

The Justice Department briefed federal prosecutors and agents on the team investigating Hunter Biden on a key FBI document containing allegations of a criminal bribery scheme involving Joe Biden in October 2020, but did not invite IRS agents to that briefing, Sen. Chuck Grassley charged. That accusation was leveled just weeks after IRS whistleblowers alleged that the entire federal investigation into Hunter Biden's business dealings was influenced by politics. The document in question is an FBI-generated FD-1023 form. The form, dated June 30, 2020, reflects the FBI's interview with a "highly credible" confidential source who detailed multiple meetings and conversations

Many factors have contributed to the downfall of America’s schools. One rarely discussed issue is the disproportionate praise heaped on the teaching industry, which has led teachers to believe the scope of their influence ought to extend beyond the teaching of facts and figures. As a society, we have praised teachers to the extent that even mild criticism of the profession is met with a chorus of boos. “My sister is a teacher!” When discussing widespread problems in the profession, instead of presenting an actual argument, those who reflexively defend the industry will often mention having friends or relatives who are teachers, as if this anecdotal tidbit is a meaningful response.

Native American groups are now joining the call for reparations centuries after hundreds of tribes had land taken from them by 'land-grab universities and colleges.' An estimated 10.7 million acres of land was taken from 250 tribes following the signing of the Morrill Act by President Abraham Lincoln in 1862. This law converted tribal lands into initial sites for land-grant higher education institutions in many states. Institutions such as the University of Minnesota, which received 94,440 acres of land, and Cornell University in New York that received more than 987,000 acres are being targeted. Cornell, in total, received land in 15 states -
