This is a totally freehand writing for CTH readers, not written with any intent other than our conversation. For a long time, I have written various forms of an article and deleted it – crumpled it up and thrown it away… because it’s just so hard to write about.
However, an insightful comment by Dutchman today has just pushed me to write it. Unlike most writing, this is no notes, few citations, just thoughts.
You guys are having a discussion about Larry Hogan’s commentary to CBS News.
In the middle of the discussion, someone writes the familiar and common sentiment about Ron DeSantis,

Sundance's reasoning here is a bit hard for the weak-minded to follow, but it rings true in several respects. DeSantis has been an inspiration in the way he has dealt with Disney and other crazies in Florida; but looking back, I've been bewildered by several, sudden outbursts of vitriol against Trump. What the...? Lately I've felt that we're not seeing the real DeSantis, but a kind of sock puppet, being manipulated by unseen hands and a zany voice.

Mr. Sundance, if DeSantis is in with the Bushes, Rinos, and Deep State, why did Trump “save” his political career, help him win, and praise him so much. Sorry, I couldn’t wade through all of this.

Oh, please.
Nonsense like this makes me think we deserve Biden.
You are getting down to his level.

I did “wade through” this astonishing and meandering article. Sundance may or may not be nuts but he plainly could have had a career as a screenwriter for paranoid political thrillers such as the Manchurian Candidate.
Every move DeSantis has made since 2015 has been examined, with a microscope, by the intrepid Sundance. Each of those moves has, step by step, been orchestrated by a shadowy cabal of big money players whose goal it is to put their puppet in the White House.
What admirers of DeSantis foolishly believe to be great accomplishments that he made as governor of Florida are, in reality, merely camouflage that is designed to obscure the dastardly aims of his evil donors. Thus, while there is now quite a crew of Republicans hoping to win the Party’s nomination for 2024, only DeSantis deserves the designation of Judas. So says Sundance.

Your either onto something or your on something! I think DeSantis is indeed a Clinton, Bush, Romney Trojan Horse that will end up as conservative as Mitch and McCarthy! Sad!

DeSanctimonious is a whole lot better than Joey Baby, but cannot carry 45's water. DS a Deep Stater Bush wannabe? More than likely. Who is the alternative? Asa? Yeah right. Krispy Kreme? Yeah right. 45? Right on! Unfortunately, 45 is suffering from DOJ death by thousands of paper counts. Vivek may be the one, but he has no chance. We are fubared.

You are not nuts.
I have observed the same events and come to the same conclusions.
We are overwhelmed in a cesspool of lies.
The efforts to "get" Trump are proof that our government and even the majority of citizens are so thoroughly corrupted that restoring a Republic will be impossible.
What comes next seems to be a sort of techno-feudalism/slave state straight out of dystopian science fiction.
God help us.

folks, I do not know if DeSantis is genuine or a setup. I do know what we have with Trump. I will vote for Trump if he is on death row and I have to write his name on the ballot. But, even if Trump wins, his winning is not going to make this evil, corrupt, chaotic world better for much longer than his term of office. Read your Bible about the 8th Beast. We are in the span of time of the 8th Beast (Islam) now. There isnt but One who can fix this world. And that One, is coming back very soon.

Trust your instincts. Something is not right here. DeSaintis appears to be legit, but never underestimate the power of the GOPe to deceive us. First he says he will not run if Trump does, but now he is running. Then he promises his state he will serve out his entire second term, but he will not. Then we find out who is supporting him and it is the same guys who pushed Bush, McCain and Romney on us. For me, DeSaintis’s disloyalty and his helpful “friends” are most disturbing because those two things go to the heart of who you are. Frankly, I just do not trust him, but I do trust President Trump to do what he says he will and to never fail to put this country and its people first. Despite having the hounds of hades on his heels every single day, he got the job done. Statistics don’t lie. The peace and prosperity we experienced under his administration are unparalleled. I want the guy who accomplished all that. He has earned my vote.

Really? Kind of early isn't it? Sorry folks, but I remain uncommitted. I look forward to finding out more about Ron DeSantis. If we think Trump is a lock to win it all, then DeSantis' run will come to naught. I for one do not think yet that Trump is a lock to win it all. Trump fatigue is real, and people need to work through it. The process needs to play out. One way for that to happen is for Trump to meet successfully a challenge to the nomination and then benefit politically from it, without adding to that real fatigue among voters, including Republicans and Independents.

I’m a registered Independent. I do not suffer Trump fatigue. I’m more energized than ever to vote for him. One reason for that is because of recognizing the fact that Trump doesn’t shy away from a challenge or an attack, as the case may be.
Otoh, I’m tired to the teeth with the relentless, dishonest schemes & attacks against him. The reason for them has become abundantly clear to me. His ideas to Make America Great Again are a challenge/threat to another sort of agenda.
Trump makes clear where he stands and why. He has shown his loyalty to America, which calls into question why all of these attacks against him as against an enemy.
