US says China declined request for defence

China declined a US request for Secretary of Defence Lloyd Austin to meet his counterpart Li Shangfu in Singapore this week, part of what the Pentagon called a “concerning unwillingness” to engage in military discussions. The US defence department “believes strongly in the importance of maintaining open lines of military-to-military communication between Washington and Beijing to ensure that competition does not veer into conflict”, Pentagon Press Secretary Brigadier General Pat Ryder said in a statement on Monday. The US had proposed in May that the two defence officials meet at the Shangri-La Dialogue that is set to take place in Singapore.

Who wants to “meet” with a man wearing a dress? Or if not wearing a dress, believing it appropriate to wear a dress to such a meeting, in fact believing that wearing a dress to such a meeting would be “hystoric”? What subhuman garbage.

Li doesn't need to meet with his counterpart for the same reason Trump doesn't need to debate any of the also-ran candidates. Neither of the latter have anything to say.

The Chicoms view Blacks as not worthy of respect and sad to say (not really) Lloyd Austin gets the same from Black Conservatives like me. He has shown mainly through his actions what direction he wants to take our military. That being said #15 has a point. Using old WV farming terms why worry about milk when you basically own the cow.

Former FBI Director James Comey said Tuesday on CNN’s “Anderson Cooper 360” that former President Donald Trump was an “existential threat” to the country. He also called the Republican Party a cult. Cooper asked, “Given the career you have had in the FBI, when you see the former president, now the frontrunner again for the Republican nomination, how big a threat is that?” Comey said, “A very serious threat to the rule of law, almost an existential threat if he were to become president again. He has tried to take a flamethrower to the FBI, to the Department of Justice to stop them investigating.” Cooper said, “You believe Donald Trump is an

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy helped secure a debt limit deal – now he has to secure its passage in the House, with little room for error and a looming threat to his speakership. In a win for McCarthy, the bill cleared a key hurdle Tuesday evening when the powerful House Rules Committee voted 7-6 to advance the debt ceiling bill to the floor. The bill will come to floor Wednesday for debate and a final passage vote before it goes to the Senate. The Rules Committee vote had been highly anticipated due to the fact that some of the loudest conservative critics of the bill are members of the panel.

The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) has estimated that the debt-ceiling deal agreed by House Republicans and President Joe Biden will reduce budget deficits by about $1.5 trillion between 2023 and 2033. The projection by the nonpartisan office Tuesday follows frustration from the House Freedom Caucus that the deal does not go far enough. A vote on the bill is expected Wednesday and it is expected to be passed with bipartisan support. In a letter to Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R., Calif.), director of the CBO Phillip Swagel also projected that there would be reductions in discretionary outlays in the amount of $1.3 trillion over the 2024–2033 period.
