Did Zelenskyy get Tucker Carlson fired?

Original Article

Semaphor–Ben Smith’s new publication the founding of which led Smith to leave a cush post at The New York Times–is reporting that Rupert Murdoch and Volodymir Zelenskyy had a private conversation in March in which Zelenskyy expressed displeasure about Tucker Carlson’s commentary regarding the Ukraine war. There is nothing inherently nefarious about this sort of thing. It would be odd if he didn’t try to influence coverage of the war. Just as coaches in sports, one of the jobs of world leaders is to “work the refs” in order to get better outcomes for their team. Of course, one of the jobs of the refs is to ignore the coaches

There has been something wrong with the whole Ukraine war situation since the beginning. Joe had our military blow up the pipeline and he sends countless billions of dollars to Zelenskyy knowing that not all of it is going toward the war effort. As long as he gets his cut, Joe will continue to fund their war. Meanwhile, Europe sits back and watches from the grandstands.

Carlson said on air that he was supportive of Russia's war effort. And clips of his show featured prominently on Russian state television. As such, I have no use for Carlson. Opposing a war is one thing. Supporting a criminal invader that just recently murdered over 20 civilians with long range missiles--and bragged about it--is another thing entirely.

#11 The technology of 70+ years ago did not allow for precision strikes. Area bombing was pretty much what you had. If Ukraine had large stockpiles of anything like Iskander or Kalibr precision guided weapons, they would not use them to strike civilian targets. Ukraine hits airfields, supply depots, fuel points, and headquarters locations.

"And why shouldn't I root for Russia? Because I am." That's the direct, word for word quote. TUCKER CARLSON SAID THAT. And no, it wasn't taken out of context. It was a clip of him, on his show, on Fox News. So in refusing to watch it, you are bizarrely refusing to watch Fox News.

The Federal Reserve on Wednesday approved its 10th interest rate increase in just a little over a year and dropped a tentative hint that the current tightening cycle is at an end. In a unanimous decision widely expected by markets, the central bank’s Federal Open Market Committee raised its benchmark borrowing rate by 0.25 percentage point. The rate sets what banks charge each other for overnight lending but feeds through to many consumer debt products such as mortgages, auto loans and credit cards. The increase takes the fed funds rate to a target range of 5%-5.25%, the highest since August 2007. Markets, though, are more focused on whether

Some interesting reports about the war in Ukraine today which paint an overall picture of Russia maybe being a little bit in trouble and worried about near-future outcomes. Let’s start with this Ukrainian attack on a Russian freight train. An explosive device derailed a Russian freight train in a region bordering Ukraine for a second straight day Tuesday ahead of an expected counteroffensive by Kyiv… The last four days have seen two trains derailed by explosions, a suspected drone hitting an oil depot in Crimea that caused a huge blaze and power lines blown up near Saint Petersburg.

President Joe Biden is dispatching 1,500 soldiers to the Southern border to stem the surge of illegal immigrants that are expected to follow next Thursday’s expiration of Title 42, a pandemic-era public-health measure that allows Border Patrol to immediately expel illegal immigrants. The active-duty Army units will assist Border Patrol and will be armed, though they will only be permitted to use their weapons in self-defense. Following a request by the DHS, the Department of Defense agreed to “provide a temporary increase of an additional 1,500 military personnel, for 90 days, to supplement CBP efforts at the border,” an unnamed US official said in a statement provided to CNN.

This date is earlier than Wall Street economists were expecting. Goldman Sachs' latest estimate this week

The Supreme Court agreed to hear Loper Bright Enterprises v. The Court limited its grant of certiorari to the second question presented — namely, “whether the Court should overrule Chevron or at least clarify that statutory silence concerning controversial powers expressly but narrowly granted elsewhere in the statute does not constitute an ambiguity requiring deference to the agency.” Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson recused herself because she heard arguments in this case when she was on the D.C. Circuit. Jackson did not participate in that court’s final opinion,

The easiest way to cut through the pretending nonsense is to ask the obvious question, ‘Why now?‘ The Florida Republican Legislature is changing the Sunshine Laws in Florida to block people from reviewing the travel records of the Florida Governor. [HB1495 Link] The claimed justification is security, to protect the governor and high-ranking state officials. However, the obvious timing of Ron DeSantis pending run for the White House, in combination with his administration refusing to give details on who/how the funding for his private charter flights have been taking place during the “book tour,” makes the new law much more suspicious as constructed.
