HONOLULU—Ken Potts, one of the last two remaining survivors of the USS Arizona battleship, which sank during the 1941 Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, has died. He was 102. Howard Kenton Potts died Friday at the home in Provo, Utah, that he shared with his wife of 66 years, according to Randy Stratton, whose late father, Donald Stratton, was Potts’ Arizona shipmate and close friend. Stratton said Potts “had all his marbles” but lately was having a hard time getting out of bed. When Stratton spoke to Potts on his birthday, April 15, he was happy to have made it to 102. “But he knew that his body was kind of shutting down

A real survivor. So many never made it out of USS Arizona, and so very few people make it to that age. RIP, sir...may you forever have fair winds and following seas.

A friend's father survived the attack at Pearl Harbor. He never really talked about it. My friend and his brother did not serve in the military, The father said that he served enough for the 3 of them.

We made the trip to Pearl Harbor and the monument many years ago. Very moving. The docents in the museum at that time were survivors of The Arizona. One told me that survivors can elect to be cremated and their ashes taken down to the ship by a navy diver and thus rejoin their comrades. There are still around 1,100 guys down there who died in the attack.

The White House Correspondents' Association Dinner is asking attendees to take a same-day COVID-19 test and email the negative results after last year’s event was viewed as a superspreader. When the dinner resumed after a two-year pandemic-related hiatus in 2022, a more stringent testing requirement was put into place, but multiple guests subsequently contracted the virus nevertheless.“Guests should conduct a home rapid test on the day of the dinner and send the results before heading over to the Hilton,” this year’s guidance reads.

An estimated 600.000 patriots demonstrated in Jerusalem in favor of the conservative government Thursday as left-wing radicals were arrested for attacking economics minister Nir Barkat in Tel Aviv. Patriotic NGOs Im Tirtzu, Regavim and others had called for a “Million Man March” on the day after Israel’s 75th birthday to show support of the right-wing government’s attempts to clean up the Justice System, which has been highjacked by far-left activists. Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich spoke at the demonstration outside the Knesset:

President Joe Biden starts his day with a workout and caps it off with a phone call to son Hunter while, sandwhiched in between, are a national security briefing, staff meetings, events, day trips and whatever else the day may bring. The president's schedule has returned to the spotlight amid a new report claiming aides struggle to get the 80-year-old to do evening or morning events. Biden literally carries his schedule around with him on a long white notecard, checking off items with a black pen as he moves through the day.

Gov. Kathy Hochul (D-NY) and state lawmakers reached an agreement to phase out natural gas hookups in new buildings beginning in 2025, a first-of-its-kind state law designed to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and transition to cleaner sources of energy. Hochul said Thursday she reached a handshake deal with lawmakers on the agreement, which was included in New York’s fiscal 2024 budget. Though the budget stops short of an explicit ban on natural gas appliances, it will ban natural gas hookups in most new residential and commercial buildings under seven stories beginning in 2026. By 2029, that will extend to larger industrial and commercial properties as well.

Buses carrying about 300 Americans left the war-torn capital of Sudan late Friday, after Washington came under intense pressure to explain why other countries had rescued their nationals but thousands of U.S. citizens remained without help. It came as Khartoum continued to rock with the sound of explosions despite a tentative ceasefire, and foreign leaders tried to broker a fresh truce. The U.S. convoy reportedly set off late Friday on a lengthy journey to a safe location.

A troubling societal issue called "transableism" is attracting attention these days. Transableism is a newer term for BIID, or "Body Integrity Identity Disorder," in which a person actually "identifies" as handicapped. BIID has been relabeled to transableism to align with today's trans community, according to some. The point of "changing the identifier" from a psychiatric condition (BIID) to an advocacy term (transableism) is to "harness the stunning cultural power of gender ideology" to the cause of allowing doctors to "treat" BIID patients by "amputating healthy limbs, snipping spinal cords or destroying eyesight," according to Evolution News and Science Today

The transgender “influencer” entered into the broader public eye after Joe Biden invited him to the White House back in 2022. Think about that. A president who hasn’t done a challenging interview since he took office found time to receive softballs from a grown man who pretends to be a prepubescent girl. But I digress. Mulvaney has been propped up by corporate America despite only claiming to be a “girl” for a little over a year.

Their strategy, as exemplified by their mouthpiece the New York Times, has shifted to a defense of senility. Do we need a mentally competent president? Nah.
