‘Leading the Way’: Mississippi Governor
Signs 8 Pro-Life Measures Into Law

Original Article

Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves signed bills on Wednesday strengthening the state’s adoption system, increasing support for pregnancy resource centers, and protecting foster children. “Mississippi led the way to overturn Roe. Now, we’ll lead the way in supporting moms and babies,” the Republican governor told The Daily Signal, (Snip) “Our state is going to set the bar for what it means to pass strong pro-life and pro-mom policies that improve the lives of Mississippi families,” he said. “I was proud to sign these bills and look forward to continuing to fight for more historic wins as part of our new pro-life agenda.”

Comments:

The article mentions that since the Dobbs opinion was leaked last year there have been 84 attacks on (pro-life) pregnancy resource centers. What ghouls those attackers are.

I think it is really sad that ending a baby's life (beating heart) is at the core of this issue. I have come to the conclusion that there is nothing a person can do to change their minds about abortion. They believe in what they believe in and so do the doctors performing the procedures. I do know there is one thing I can do and that is turn the issue over to God.

I changed my mind about abortion when I held my newborn granddaughter in my arms. I was childless and had married a man with two sons. Seeing that defenseless baby made me do a 180 on abortion.

Makes me proud to be from Mississippi. Let the other progressive states carry out the tragedies of abortion. But, I'm sure they think we are just dumb rednecks. Proud also of being from a red state, don't love everything about Tater Reeves but he's got this just right.

The federal government already does this. They have programs to pay for the pregnancy, delivery, formula and other foods for babies and children up to five years of age and food supplements for the mother and if a young woman had an abortion, she still gets six months of food vouchers.. There are also vouchers for housing and transportation. What more does Mississippi plan to do?

Here's a "Cliff Notes" version for those without the time to read the article. This is too good to pass up! Mississippi is really supporting their citizens in building a pro-family culture and society. To support pro-life clinics under violent attack, the tax credits for donations have increased from $3.5 million to $10 million. To support couples adopting children inside Mississippi, the tax credit has been increased to $10,000 and if the child is from out-of-state the credit is $5,000. To support anonymous adoption there will be safe and secure "Drop Off" boxes installed at hospitals and police stations. The modern and humane version of leaving a baby on the doorstep of a mansion or an orphanage. A Task Force will review current foster care and adoption laws, making recommendations for revisions that best support parents and children. Child Protective Services will be separated from the Health Department and independent. Hopefully, this will facilitate investigations and focused action in cases. Child Protective Services will have its largest budget in history. These are focused, practical, real world solutions. The question is, of course, what will happen to these good intentions once they enter into the maul of the bureaucratic beast. However, I have hope. God is good and this legislation supports life and family.

If we learned anything this week, we’ve learned that the continued life of this Constitutional Republic is in grave danger from the cabal of sociopaths in critical positions of power, and that it is because scaremongers and a supine press and judiciary have permitted enactment of dangerous legislation and illegal conduct to go on and on unpunished. Worse, the perpetrators are being richly rewarded for their violation of law and public trust.(Snip) The FBI misused Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) more than 278,000 times, the Washington Post reported, “including against crime victims, January 6 riot suspects, and people arrested at protests in the wake of the

The major science journals are growing increasingly hard left politically. The prestigious journal Science, in particular, has swallowed progressive ideology–including supporting the “nature rights” movement. The rights of nature–which include geological features–are generally defined as the right to “exist, persist, maintain and regenerate its vital cycles, structure, functions and its processes in evolution.” Nature is, of course, not sentient. So, this campaign is really about granting environmental extremists legal standing to enforce their policy desires through litigation as legal guardians serving nature’s best interests. But the movement has a problem. It is clearly ideological rather than rational. So now, three law professors and a biologist

Lily Cooney was fully committed to social justice. In the wake of George Floyd’s death, the now-26-year-old writing tutor marched proudly in Black Lives Matters protests through the streets of Portland, Oregon. But the culture in which she was steeped began to take a toll on her mental health. (Snip) She decided she needed therapy to work on both her “internalized white supremacy,” her “white guilt,” and to “become a better person.’ ” In January 2021, Cooney sought help from a black therapist in Portland she found through a therapy database, who agreed to work with her around issues of race and gender.

If, in 1984, an inventive New Yorker set his time travel machine to the year 2023, the city in which he arrived would confound him. Although the New York City of today looks much like that of 1984, our time traveler would have a hard time understanding the people, almost as hard a time as H.G. Wells's "Time Traveler" did when his machine arrived in the year 802,701. The public response of the average New Yorker to the arrest of former Marine sergeant Daniel Penny calls to mind the "Eloi" response to Wells's Traveler. The Eloi were the little, pretty people of the future whom the Time Traveler encountered.

Conservative teenagers are, in general, significantly happier than their liberal peers, according to a study conducted by Columbia University. "The politics of depression: Diverging trends in internalizing symptoms among US adolescents by political beliefs," was published in the journal Social Science & Medicine – Mental Health in December and while its findings were striking, the reason behind the trend is unclear. Epidemiologist Catherine Gimbrone and her coauthors compared depressive attitudes of 12th-graders from 2005 to 2018 between those aligned with conservatism, which was defined in the study as "support of individual liberty, right-wing social and religious values, and unregulated free markets" and liberalism, which was defined as "support of equal

The Marxist, Leftist global movement, whatever groups are ultimately behind it, are using Biden and the Democratic Party as pawns in the supreme game of human domination. The White House mouthpiece also failed to name a single victim, including Mike Hill, who was black. No word from Saint-Pierre whether Hale could have been motivated by racism. The Nashville mourners might be hard pressed to find a similar demonstration of indulgence for terrorism and callousness toward their victims. To begin: freedom of speech is not a "God-given" right; no rights really are. We may hold certain rights to be "self-evident," but that is simply a comforting fiction derived from the American Revolution. Rights must be taken, not given and, once won, any attempt to nullify them must be resisted by (in the Communist Left's favorite phrase) "any means necessary." (Snip) Nor are the enshrinement of rights in a nation's constitution any guarantee of perpetuity. Countries come and go; regimes change. What I know of Clarence Thomas's character 3 replies

Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas’s character and integrity have come under incessant attack in the last few months, from endless articles in the press to the recent Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on the supposed need for Supreme Court ethics reform. The Left’s attacks on Thomas aren’t new. But this most recent wave is particularly troubling. Let’s look at how it started, where I have some personal experience. It all began with an April 6 piece in ProPublica , which asserted that Thomas was a hypocrite and a grifter for claiming to be a man of simple tastes while taking luxurious trips and vacations with billionaire Harlan Crow.

My friend and colleague, Dr. Maryanne Demasi has been studying the use of statins for years. She just had her meta analysis published in "JAMA Internal Medicine." This is an extremely important paper.(snip)The public health mantra about cholesterol has always been “the lower, the better.” This has been reflected in expert guidelines which have called on doctors to aggressively lower their patient’s ‘bad’ LDL-cholesterol (LDL-C) with statin drugs to prevent heart disease. However, our new analysis published in JAMA Internal Medicine (paywalled) challenges that notion. Over the years, influential researchers such as the Cholesterol Treatment Trialists (CTT) at Oxford University, have monopolised the scientific debate on statins. But there are three problems with the various CTT analyses:

But, they have overlooked the political entanglements of liberal justices—including trips former Justice Stephen Breyer took that were funded by a Democrat donor, and the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s connection to a left-wing feminist group, among others.
