Florida Legislature Overwhelmingly Passes
Six-Week Abortion Ban

The Republican-controlled Florida legislature passed a bill on Thursday that would ban abortions beyond six weeks of pregnancy. “We have the opportunity to lead the national debate about the importance of protecting life and giving every child the opportunity to be born and find his or her purpose,” Jenna Persons-Mulicka, a Republican state representative that helped pass the House version of the bill, told the Associated Press. The bill overhauls Florida’s existing abortion ban beyond 15 weeks of pregnancy; it provides exceptions in cases involving rape, incest, or threat to a mother’s life.

Mr. Deplorable's First Law of Government: The governability of laws is inversely related to the extremism of the ideology motivating them, meaning the more extreme the ideology, the more difficult will be their enforcement.

Wow. Stopping the murder of a human being once the heart starts to beat is extreme? Somewhere along the trail of my life, a memo went out on the switching of good and evil, but I swear I never got that memo. As far as enforcement goes, the left has no problem enforcing the most extreme legislation on the environment, LGTBQ+, green energy, child grooming and anti-policing policies, to name just a few. I have faith that those who value life can handle enforcement.

Law informs behavior. Women (real women) will be more careful about using protection or about taking a pregnancy test early.

The FBI arrested alleged Pentagon leaker Jack Douglas Teixeira on Thursday, closing the first chapter of an ongoing story that still has many questions to answer – including whether the classified documents Teixeira posted online are accurate or not and how he came to possess them. Here are the known facts of the case, as of Friday. Who is the “leaker?” The suspect in custody is Jack Douglas Teixeira, a 21-year-old resident of North Dighton, Massachusetts. Attorney General Merrick Garland said on Thursday he was detained as part of “an investigation into alleged unauthorized removal, retention, and transmission of classified national defense information.” FBI agents arrested Teixeira without incident at

Mike Pompeo, who has called for more seriousness in GOP leadership, is not entering the 2024 presidential race. The former Trump administration secretary of state made the announcement on Twitter on Friday. Pompeo first shared the update with Fox News host Bret Baier. “Susan and I have concluded, after much consideration and prayer, that I will not present myself as a candidate to become President of the United States in the 2024 election,” Pompeo wrote in a statement with his PAC, Champion American Values. Pompeo, who also previously served as a U.S. representative, director of the Central Intelligence Agency, and as a soldier in the U.S. military

U.S. Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito on Friday temporarily blocked lower court rulings that imposed tighter restrictions on the abortion pill mifepristone. U.S. Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk of the U.S. Northern District of Texas suspended the Food and Drug Administration's approval of mifepristone last week. The U.S. 5th Circuit Court of Appeals blocked that part of Kacsmaryk's order and kept the FDA approval in place. But the appeals court temporarily re-imposed tighter restrictions on how mifepristone is used and distributed, which would make it more difficult for women to access the drug. Alito blocked those rulings restricting mifepristone access until 11:59 p.m. Wednesday.

American taxpayers are likely to subsidize billions of dollars in Affordable Care Act benefits for illegal aliens enrolled in the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program under a plan by President Joe Biden. On Thursday, President Joe Biden announced a plan to open the Affordable Care Act, commonly known as Obamacare, and Medicaid rolls to hundreds of thousands of DACA illegal aliens. While DACA, created by former President Obama through executive action, has helped shield close to a million illegal aliens from deportation through the years, the Migration Policy Institute states that about 600,000 are currently enrolled in the program.

PBS is the latest media company to say it’s getting off Twitter. The public broadcaster joined NPR in saying it is no longer interested in sharing its content on the platform, after owner Elon Musk slapped a “government-funded” label on its account, which carries more than 2 million followers. “PBS stopped tweeting from our account when we learned of the change and we have no plans to resume at this time,”a spokesman for the outlet told The Hill. “We are continuing to monitor the ever-changing situation closely.” NPR became one of the first major news outlets to say it was quitting Twitter on Wednesday, citing a public spat with Musk

The worst security breach in many years occurred earlier this year, as top secret documents apparently taken from a high-level intelligence briefing were posted on a sort of group chat and went viral from there. Scott wrote about it here. There have been international repercussions, as several foreign governments, including Israel’s, have denied the accuracy of some of the claims made in the briefing. So who was the leaker who had access to this top secret briefing? Apparently it was a 21-year-old Massachusetts Air National Guardsman named Jack Teixeira. So many people–including me–are asking, how in the world did this kid have access to a top-secret intelligence briefing?

Any sale of the team would have to be approved by three-quarters of NFL ownership. Owners plan to convene in May for a regularly scheduled spring meeting, where a vote on final approval could take place. Harris' previous bid for the Denver Broncos means the league is familiar

Jordan said the lead bill would give current and former presidents the option to change venues. The lead bill is slated to be introduced early next week at the latest.
