In columns over the years, and on countless media appearances in which I’m asked for my opinion about various California Democrats seeking higher office, I’ve consistently made the observation that California Democrats have a very tough time getting traction outside of the state because they’ve never been challenged on their positions or been held accountable by the media in any way. They don’t even need to give campaign speeches or long-form interviews because at this point they don’t need to. So, like Kamala Harris, once the rest of the country gets to see what they’re all about, they’re not fans.

Back in January, I painted a little picture for you of what a socialist, woke hellhole the formerly idyllic San Diego had become. Between banning natural gas, proposed mileage taxes, and rigging the scales so the votes of Democratic supervisors and their reps from populated sections of the county were weighted more than the rest, it certainly has meant good times for the ruling progressive junta.

California Governor Gavin Newsom just can’t seem to stop obsessing over his imagined rival Ron DeSantis, the Florida governor who’s had a far more successful run than Newsom in almost every category imaginable. DeSantis was a national leader in getting kids back to school during COVID, while many of California’s children wasted away at home for a year and a half. Californians are voting with their feet, ditching the Golden State in droves, while Florida’s population is exploding. California is plagued by homelessness and crime, while crime is down in the Sunshine State.
But the envious Governor Hair Gel, as he is known around here, keeps making unprovoked attacks
Leaked intelligence documents from the Pentagon have made their way to the internet, and they expose just how deeply the U.S. has penetrated Russian security and intelligence services. The source of the documents remains unknown.
The New York Times reports:
The documents portray a battered Russian military that is struggling in its war in Ukraine and a military apparatus that is deeply compromised. They contain daily real-time warnings to American intelligence agencies on the timing of Moscow’s strikes and even its specific targets. Such intelligence has allowed the United States to pass on to Ukraine crucial information on how to defend itself.
The problem with this leak
When I wrote about Rebekah Jones’ son’s arrest I relied upon the reporting of the Journal for the facts of the case.
I chose to do so despite there being a Miami Herald story because it was biased and left out the most important point: he wasn’t arrested for sharing memes, as they claimed, but for making threats to shoot up a school.
That’s a bit different. The Herald is still soft-pedaling the story and pushing the notion that Jones is being persecuted somehow. And Jones is tweeting up a storm with an ever-changing story. It is a remarkable example of gaslighting, and the Herald is crying about being criticized

A federal judge in Texas on Friday ruled to suspend the abortion drug mifepristone, which was approved by regulators 23 years ago and has now become one of the most common methods of abortion in the country.
U.S. District Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk ruled to suspend the FDA's approval of mifepristone. The ruling is paused for seven days so the federal government may appeal. Kacsmaryk, a Trump appointee, held a hearing on the issue on March 15 in Amarillo, Texas, where the conservative plaintiffs in the case argued the Food and Drug Administration was wrong to approve mifepristone.
Democrat state representatives switching parties and one special election over the last month gave Republicans three new supermajorities in state legislatures, bringing the total to 25 nationwide.
This week, North Carolina state Rep. Trisha Cotham announced her departure from the Democrat party and effectively changed her party affiliation to the Republican Party, ultimately giving the Republicans in the Tar Heel State a veto-proof supermajority in both the House and Senate. “The party wants to villainize anyone who has free thought, free judgment, has solutions and wants to get to work to better our state,” Cotham said during a press conference announcing her decision to formally leave the Democrat party.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis delivered a rousing message during a speech in Michigan Thursday morning about the importance of Republicans getting rid of a culture of losing that he says the party has experienced in recent years.
DeSantis made the remarks while appearing at the Midland County Republican Party’s annual Dave Camp Spring Breakfast at the Great Hall Banquet Center in Midland. More than 600 people gathered for the event. “In this endeavor, there is no substitute for victory,” DeSantis declared. “And what I see around the country with Republicans is they’ve started to develop a culture of losing.”

I recently reviewed the results of the mayoral election in Chicago, which appear to have sounded the death knell for America’s third-largest city. The buildings will remain and the people without the means to escape will still huddle in their homes (at least those who have homes), hoping to avoid being the next statistic in a crime wave that shows no signs of abating. Commerce has slowed to a crawl and its once-famous entertainment district is now too dangerous for most to risk an evening out on the town. At the Washington Examiner, Stephen Moore takes a similarly dim view of Chicago’s prospects, but he notes

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis spoke to hundreds of Republicans at the Midland County Republican Party breakfast Thursday morning in Michigan. He brought the War on Woke to the state, his first visit since 18 Michigan lawmakers in January signed a letter urging DeSantis to run for president.
More than 700 Republicans packed the room and DeSantis received a standing ovation during his introduction. DeSantis has a busy day scheduled in Michigan today. He will make stops at the Mackinac Center for Public Policy, a conservative-leaning think tank, and Pizza Sam’s, a restaurant run by former state Senate Appropriations Chair Jim Stamas. Later, DeSantis has an evening event planned at Hillsdale College.
The 13-year-old son of a Florida 'whistleblower' who claimed Governor Ron DeSantis' office fabricated Covid-19 statistics during the pandemic was arrested after allegedly threatening a school shooting.
Rebekah Jones took to Twitter on Tuesday night to announce the arrest, which she alleged was personally ordered by DeSantis and carried out by the Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office. Jones said her son was taken into custody over memes he had sent in a private group chat which joked about school shootings— including one which made fun of lazy school security guards, and another which joked about being tempted to grab a school security guards' guns.

Last week, women's college swim champion Riley Gaines, who opposes the transgender agenda in women's sports, was physically assaulted and falsely detained by an enraged baying mob of transgender protestors at San Francisco State University. According to Fox News: "Former NCAA swimmer Riley Gaines was barricaded in a room at San Francisco State University Thursday night after she was physically assaulted following a speech to students about saving women's sports at a Turning Point USA and Leadership Institute event on the campus. PROLOGUE: THE INFORMATION WAR
In 1950, Sen. Joseph McCarthy claimed that he had proof of a communist spy ring operating inside the government. Overnight, the explosive accusations blew up in the national press, but the details kept changing. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg on Saturday tried to instruct Americans regarding political agendas as he faces backlash for his handling of recent train derailments.
