Most black people living today don't have a clue about their ancestry. They only assume their ancestors were slaves.

They'll lie and say, yes. That was easy.

But the Census can't ask if they are citizens.

Very few people white or black know who their ancestors were past 4 generations. Stupid pandering bureaucrats.

Why not ask them if their ancestors were "Slave Owners" while you're at it? Yes, there were freed blacks who went on to be slave owners themselves, per the U.S. Census' gathered back in the day. In large measure the blacks of today have completely lost track of their genetics, since most don't know who their biological fathers actually were. By the way, there is no legal basis for ANY of this "equity" handout system.

It is beside the instant point of the article, but only US citizens and Permanent Resident Aliens also known as green card holders should be counted in the US Census. That is not happening now, and that is a major reason why Biden and the leftist, progressive, and socialist Democrats have effectively erased the international border between the USA and Mexico through their “open borders” schemes that clearly violate the intent and substance of the immigration laws. In that the Democrats intend to count tens of millions of illegal aliens in the next U.S. Census, thus permanently boosting up the foreign origin ethnic and racial composition of the future U.S. electorate and population to their clear political benefit, as the Democrats believe that the vast majority of illegal aliens who they are deliberately allowing to unlawfully enter the USA are poor, uneducated, and socialist oriented third world peoples, who after being granted a future Democrat designed “path to citizenship” amnesty will embrace the socialist Democrat political agenda, that will promise them access to all sorts of government benefits and services, “free” healthcare along with the ability to bring tens of millions of their foreign family members into the USA. The only way that will stop is if the wimpy Republicans are able to come up with the candidates and political agenda to win the majority of Congressional and Senate seats and control the White House in the future. That may not be possible when it comes to again being the majority in the House of Representatives, as the Democrats intend to count all illegal aliens in the next US Census, amounting to tens of millions of people who have no legal status in the USA, who will mostly be residing in the leftist Democrat run big cities and areas, thus causing a yet unknown number of congressional seats to be redistricted into those Democrat cities and areas where future Democrat candidates campaigning to win those redistricted congressional seats will be bound to win those elections, thus giving the Democrats what will amount to a future lock on controlling the majority of seats in the House of Representatives. The only way to take partisan politics out of mass uncontrolled illegal immigration is for the country to pass constitutional amendments to the affect that aliens unlawfully in the USA are ineligible to be counted in future US Censuses, and that aliens who unlawfully gained entry to the USA are permanently ineligible for US citizenship. Once such constitutional amendments are passed, the Democrats would immediately loose interest in violating the immigration laws to deliberately flood the USA with illegal aliens who mostly all fit within the ethnic and minority group categories of Democrat identity politics who the Democrats believe will embrace the socialist Democrat political agenda.

While I agree in principle, who has the votes to make this happen legal-like? Much of this could be done by Congress and President without an amendment. And what value do the Constitution and its amendments have these days, anyways? The judiciary is no less politicized than any elected body, legislative or executive, local, state or federal. If actual "conservatives" would show up to run for office, join the public debate, campaign with ideas beyond simply "NO!", to act as poll officers and election officials, to participate in their government beyond complaining about "change"...but there are cats to wash and choir practices to attend.

#17 I totally agree with your comments (and thank you btw for always adding informative content to these discussions) but as to your last paragraph I thought to myself‘Well yes, that’s me too. But where would I start?’ In my day to day, yes I do have cats to wash and choir practice and stuff. After my day job, and family tending, home maintenance and cleaning. All the things that people who have very little interactions with government entities. We tend to be more obtuse about the mechanisms and thus not drawn to the offices. Maybe.

#18 - There are any number of things anyone can do. You have to research a bit for the rules and processes in your jurisdiction. At the very least you can volunteer to poll watch, usually via the political party committee of your choice. You can find out what process your local election commission has to become a poll officer. You can run for office, and my suggestion is to start small. You'll need help to do this...money and volunteers, and even paid staff. It's hard for some to ask friends and family for help, money or otherwise. And then you've got to research the issues. While many think in ideological terms, most issues are whether to allow a zoning variance or such mundane, non-ideological issue that's sooo important to a small number. And those are the things that come up at candidate forums. Your local/state political party also offers classes that teach the mechanics of campaigning, such as financial reporting rules. They are often no or low cost. And one more thing: Get your personal social media pages cleaned up. No one needs to see your wayback Spring Break memories, when the beer was running cold and the hormones hot!
