Parents Bill of Rights: These Republicans
Voted ‘No’

Original Article

Friday morning, the House of Representatives passed the Parents Bill of Rights Act (H.R.5), a measure that would guarantee parents a meaningful voice in their children’s education. In a sane political environment, this would not have been a controversial bill. Yet it barely squeaked by in a 213–208 vote. Predictably, the Democrats did the bidding of their teachers union paymasters by unanimously opposing the bill. But why did five Republicans vote against it, particularly considering that it was integral to the Commitment to America on which they ran in the recent midterms?

Look, when the Department of Education was created Federalism took a huge hit. Now we are dealing with the aftermath of that horrific decision. This bill does not appear to give more power to the federal government but to actually give more rights to parents who have been left out of the loop. Abolishing the DOE is the solution for the indoctrination of education we are now experiencing. Until we can accomplish that, this bill will begin to chip away at the stranglehold the DOE has on our children. This bill falls into the category of how do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.

This shouldn't be a an issue for Congress. Defund the Dept of Education, privatize student loans and get the feds out of the local school. However, with respect to parents, well, you all sat around for decades and very very few took the time to attend a school board meeting or probably even vote for someone so now you're screaming involve us. Where were you all?

This shouldn't be a Federal issue. I agree with every precept of the bill, but to argue that since Carter instituted the DOE, it should be done is to 'fold'. This looks like so much 'eye wash' because it's popular ( and necessary) at this time. But it gives DC even more leverage over schools - and I know it would expand into other areas of school functions. Stop it at the state level.

This Parent's Bill of Rights is nonsense. Parents don't want rights becasue that entail responsibilities, and those were turned over to the education professionals decades ago.

On Oct. 30 last year, just nine days before the 2022 midterm elections, Democratic Senate nominee John Fetterman told a crowd gathered here for a rally to pay no mind to his debate performance — just elect him, and he would be their 51st vote. “Come January, when a new Congress is sworn in, I’ll be much better, but Dr. Oz will still be a fraud,” Fetterman said.At the same time, Sen. Bob Casey (D-PA) went on MSNBC with Andrea Mitchell, offering a word salad to the effect that Fetterman was fine, just missing a word or two, and that he and his team had been virtuous

Homer goes right at it: “Sing Goddess, the Rage of Achilles.” Adapted to our times: “Sing, Bragg, your rage against the Trumpies.” Alvin Bragg, who grew up in a section of Harlem aptly named Striver’s Row, is by most accounts one angry man. Since he was elected New York County’s district attorney in 2021, he has set himself to punishing the city for what he takes to be generations of wrongful prosecution of black offenders — and incidentally most other lawbreakers. His policy writ large has been to treat all felonies as misdemeanors, which are promptly dismissed. He occasionally compromises in favor of prosecution but only if the crime has

The following is adapted from an address that Lord Black gave at Ottawa on March 24, closing the Canada Strong and Free Networking Conference. As a country with a revolutionary tradition, the United States has always considered the right to own and carry firearms as implicit in the success of the American Revolution, and in the right and ability of all Americans to protect their property. This was implicit in the Declaration of Independence, in particular in Thomas Jefferson’s ungenerous references to the Native people. This helped give to American conservatism the character of individualism, of the rugged citizen, practically completely independent

If Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg actually indicts former President Donald Trump this week and prosecutes him in what will inevitably become a show trial, the Democrats will regret it. This is ironic considering their absurd yet oft-repeated comparison of Trump to Adolf Hitler. If these people knew anything about the latter’s rise to power, they would realize that it was just such a trial that launched his genocidal political career in Germany. Trump is no aspiring autocrat, but a politicized prosecution and biased coverage by the corporate media will certainly energize his base.

Bravo to Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.) for revealing just how much of a family business Biden, Inc. is. Bank records newly obtained by his House Oversight Committee show that Hunter Biden associate Rob Walker transferred north of $1.3 million in 2017 not only to usual suspects Hunter and presidential little brother Jim but also to daughter-in-law Hallie (son Beau’s widow; Hunter’s brief fling) — plus an unknown simply tagged as “Biden.” The family that gets paid together stays together, it seems. It has long been obvious that the Democrats harbor a deep aversion to free expression and that they are perfectly willing to silence voices that fail to parrot the pungent orthodoxies of the left. Historically, however, this authoritarian impulse has been impeded by the First Amendment and the revulsion with which most Americans regard censorship. It is no small irony that the advent of the internet, which was widely expected to make it all but impossible to interfere with the free flow of information, actually rendered it easier to suppress speech by stealth.

Fast forward to today, and a new class of cars has a similar problem. A minor accident can cause a total loss, even if the car’s been driven only a few miles. The only difference is that these cars aren’t cheap imports from some godforsaken socialist state. These are state-of-art electric vehicles that come with an average sticker price of $55,000.
