There is a Simple Fix to Economic Chaos

Some of us have been saying this for a very long time: green will bring down the world. Green creates a vicious circle, a term you may remember from Economics 101. It is when the serpent eats itself, no wealth is created and collapse results. That is what we are doing with ESG, with carbon taxes, with the forced adoption of unreliable vertiginously expensive green energy. It has skewed every single market. No one is investing in sound enterprise, and anything once sound is a Jenga tower, unstable, rotting from within. This. This is what threatens to bring down the world.

Comments:

Our rulers are so dense that they don't have a clue that destroying everything includes destroying themselves. With their inflated egos they imagine they will rule over the sterile depopulated world which nevertheless will be making all the stuff they want and keeping all the services running.

We, the American voters should insist, verbally or otherwise, on fair and legal elections. That will bring PDT back to power. When the locomotive of the US economy starts pulling once more, everything will fall into place.

Our "leaders" do not want to fix our mess. It was intentionally created by those "leaders". Waiting for them to die off is a fool's errand - there will be ever more to fill the void. Your vote is NOT your voice. Your tax dollars are, but as yet, we have no sway with them unless we withhold those dollars. In which case the powers will strip you of all you have. A vicious circle indeed.

Greenies are anti-God and anti-Creation. “Then God blessed them, and God said to them, ‘Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.’”—Genesis 1:28. Why would you cede all of that to some Scoldielocks?

At the most fundamental level, energy equals prosperity. When energy is abundant and low cost, production costs are low allowing job creation and greater productivity in the economy. The green movement has adopted an ascetic worldview that believes we can only by cleansed of our sins by starving ourselves of freely available energy in order to be virtuous. This is not science, it is religion. I am not as pessimistic as the author because I still believe in human innovation and creativity. Advanced generation IV nuclear power using liquid molten salt fuels could safely produce all the electricity the world needs, while burning all the waste produced by the previous generations of reactors and sequestering the CO2 produced by irreplaceable fossil fuels. Genetic editing and synthetic biology can be used to improve food quality and quantity, produce therapies for cancer and a host of devastating genetic diseases, and even extend human lifespans. These changes are coming whether the world's leaders realize it or not. Hoarding gold as Putin seems to be doing is a stupid, old-world fetish that has nothing to do with the function of sovereign currencies. Fixed asset currencies restrict the available supply of money unnecessarily and lead to stagnation and high borrowing costs. Recognizing that the money supply follows the laws of Modern Monetary Theory (MMT) would free government from the inefficient and destructive political theater of deciding whose donors get the biggest piece of the fiscal pie. It would quickly make the ridiculous spending on political advertising a thing of the past.

The main reason I read this was because I wanted to see what she thought the solution was for our economic problems. As near as I could tell, correct me if I am wrong, it is go back to the policies of the past. Only problem I have with that is that the policies of the past have lead us to where we are today. Those policies applied when our population was at a percentage of what it is today. Everyone must work? Sounds good, but what do you do when you have 100 million able bodied citizens and only 90 million jobs? Are you going to let those 10 million people starve or are you going to take care of them? If you do that, why work? Imagine the issue if your a country like China or India with a billion people. Consider freedom for a moment. Show me a free society with no checks and balances, and I will show you a dysfunctional corrupt society. There are things you do not do. The more restrictions you put on society, the bigger and more powerful government becomes. Feel free to tell me I am wrong, and what the author proposes will actually work. The author is definitely sounding the alarm. Her description of our problems are probably 90% accurate. I largely agree with her.

Ukrainians—and many Europeans and Americans—are defining an envisioned Ukrainian victory as the complete expulsion of all Russians from its 2013 borders. Or, as a Ukrainian national security chief put it, the war ends with Ukrainian tanks in Red Square. (Snip) What would that goal entail? Giving Ukraine American F-16s to strike bases and depots in Mother Russia? The gifting of 1,000 M1 Abrams tanks? Using American Harpoon missiles to sink the Russian Black Sea fleet? Maybe Bob Dylan is a prophet after all. On stage in Omaha back on Jan. 25, 1980, Dylan, in the midst of fierce controversy over having become a Christian, said, “Years ago they…said I was a prophet. I used to say, ‘No, I’m not a prophet.’ (Snip)Now I come out and say Jesus Christ is the answer. They say, ‘Bob Dylan’s no prophet.’ They just can’t handle it.” But some contemporary resonances in a couple of those Christian songs suggest that the old folkie was on to something. But Slow Train Coming contains some striking passages — not passages that were striking in 1979, but passages that are striking in 2023.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken just testified before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, during which he was confronted by minority committee member Rand Paul. As Senator Paul states, leaked State Department cables sent years prior to the COVID-19 Pandemic expressed alarm about lax security in Chinese Biosecurity Labs. As it turns out, the State Department was (yet another federal agency!) involved in coronavirus research projects, components of which were conducted in China. As Senator Paul emphasizes, the grant proposals and papers he has repeatedly requested are NOT classified. The trouble is not the legality of divulging them to the Senate, but the State Department’s refusal to divulge them.

While it may look like the United States is being tough and forceful in Ukraine, the reverse is true. The US is showing incredible weakness, and it is wearing it on its sleeve. Let's start with Ukraine. The US has gone all out to try and help Ukraine win a victory over the Russians. The Biden administration wants this to happen for two reasons: to show that Biden is not a wimp and won't cut and run like he did in Afghanistan and that he wants to "strengthen" NATO by eventually putting a NATO army in Ukraine.

Few would dispute Leonardo da Vinci’s preeminence as one of the top thinkers and artists of the Renaissance era. According to an Italian professor, da Vinci may have been only half-Italian. The professor contends that da Vinci’s mother may have been a slave from the Circassia region in what is now Russia. That fact is worth contemplating when we think about the left’s desperation to do away with Christianity, fossil fuel, and capitalism. (Snip) Whether this revised history is correct or not, it’s useful to remind all of us that slavery was not a uniquely American institution. It was ubiquitous in the pre-modern world. The brutalism of government during the last three years was anomalous in western democracies. It impoverished and starved a billion people in the developing world. It killed the old, brutally, refusing them affection in their last days. (Snip) But this niggled at me. Who drew up the plan, instituted it in every country, bullied every citizenry, devised the advertising, instituted the protocols? What operation has that level of power, of discipline? Way back in the mid-1980s, communist Yugoslavia exported the Yugo, a compact car that sold for around $4,000. It was so poorly made that bumping into a pole at 5 mph could total it. Fast forward to today, and a new class of cars has a similar problem. A minor accident can cause a total loss, even if the car’s been driven only a few miles. The only difference is that these cars aren’t cheap imports from some godforsaken socialist state. These are state-of-art electric vehicles that come with an average sticker price of $55,000.
