Turley: Twitter Files Hearing Was A "Soviet

George Washington University Law School professor Jonathan Turley on Saturday appeared on FOX News to react to the Twitter Files hearing in the House. Turley said the hearing was like a Soviet show trial because Democrats were outraged when Republicans allowed witnesses to respond to allegations made by the Democrats. "You had Democrats who accused former members of Congress of being Putin lovers and conspiracy theorists," Turley said. "All they were doing was raising free-speech concerns but what really was shocking in the last hearing is the Democrats have now severed their connection to the free press and the values underlying the free press."

By now anyone who has been paying attention should recognize that today's leftist and socialist Democrat Party is nowhere near your grandfather’s old Democrat Party when it comes to left wing ideology.

Wow, it doesn't take a Legal Professor to recognize a show trial. Where were you when the J6 clusterf@#k was operating. Everyone with a brain could see what was going on. They were after 45. Jeesh, we're not that stupid Jonathan.

I appreciate the observations that Turley keeps sharing with us, but we have gotten nothing but talk, and it has grown very stale.

Regardless of the fact that Turley did not speak out during the democrats J6 show trial, you have to admit he is speaking out at potentially great cost. He knows there is going to be a cost to be paid and still speaks the truth. I have to give him credit for that. Sure I would have liked to have seen a little courage when democrats were making a mockery of the House rules and civil rights, but I appreciate the fact that he is speaking out today. In this political climate it takes courage to put it all on the line when you know what this heinous democrat party is capable of. These truly are the times that try men’s souls. When our own party ducks and hides when it is essential to speak the truth, I admire Turley for speaking the truth. He may have a change of heart tomorrow after a few words with the hierarchy of the democrat party, but on this one issue, he is right. Good for him and may he continue to see what is really happening. Is he being red-pilled? We can only hope.

Good for Prof. Turley to speak up. He represents an America, as founded, that became unrecognizable after the Great Election Fraud of November 2020.

Remember the censorship in the release of documents relating to the John F Kennedy assassination? The news story implicating the intelligence community is only 3 months old yet like the Pandora Papers and Hunter Biden's iCloud terabytes (remember Pedo Pete, AKA The Big Guy) hacked by 4chan participants, these are gone from the news and not easy to delve into research using corrupt search engines.

Sen. Mark Kelly, D-Ariz., asked during a meeting about the bailout of Silicon Valley Bank whether social media could be censored to prevent misinformation going out that could lead to a bank run, according to reports. Michael Shellenberger, an independent journalist who reports on the Twitter files and has contributed to Fox News reported that Kelly asked the Federal Reserve, Treasury Department and Federal Deposit and Insurance Corp (FDIC) about censorship measures during the meeting on Sunday.

The latest House Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government hearing was the final straw. I can no longer be a Democrat after watching my party of three decades ignore the serious implications of vast governmental censorship and desperately, sometimes comically, try to shoot the messengers. Last week’s hearing was meant to take testimony on the implications of government censorship reported in the Twitter Files — a series of articles, released on social-media platform Twitter, outlining the “censorship-industrial complex.” But what it actually did was draw an astonishingly clear distinction between today’s Democrats and Republicans when it comes to our most fundamental and important right: freedom of speech. CORRECTION*

Less than one year after narrowly losing the Republican nomination for US Senate in Pennsylvania to celebrity heart surgeon Dr. Mehmet Oz, David McCormick is sitting in his living room pondering a provocative question: “China has a plan for global supremacy. What’s our plan?” he said to The Post. It’s a big theme in his new book, “Superpower in Peril: A Battle Plan to Renew America,” out Tuesday. It’s a deep dive into his belief that the US is in need of renewal — what needs to happen to right the ship, especially at the intersection of technology, economics and national security.

“At long last, have you left no sense of decency?” Those words were first asked by lawyer Joseph Welch in his confrontation with Sen. Joseph McCarthy (R-Wis.) during the Senate’s infamous Army-McCarthy hearings. This week, nearly 70 years later, Welch’s words seem more relevant than ever after House Democrats savaged two journalists who attempted to explain a government effort to censor citizens. It was only the latest of a series of hearings in which FBI agents and other whistleblowers, experts and journalists have been personally attacked for raising free-speech concerns. This week’s hearing showed definitively that we live in a post-decency era.

Friday’s biggest headline-grabbing news was the bust of Silicon Valley Bank following a run on its deposits. The collapse was the second-largest bank failure in the nation’s history and fears of a domino effect rattled stock markets. Seen from the long run, however, that was probably not the most important event of the day. The honor goes to the announcement that Saudi Arabia and Iran restored diplomatic relations. Given their long proxy war in Yemen and fierce sectarian hatred, the sudden agreement (right) was stunning. Even more so because China brokered it.

America’s top medical schools, worried they have too few minority students, are doing something about it. They are lowering academic standards for admission and trying to hide the evidence. Columbia, Harvard, the University of Chicago, Stanford, Mount Sinai, and the University of Pennsylvania have already done so. The list already tops forty, and more are sure to follow. Of course, the universities won’t admit what they are doing – and certainly not why. All they will say is that their new standards add “equity” and “lived experience.” Unfortunately, adding those factors inevitably lessens the weight given to others.

Seizing an opening in their long war against Fox News, mainstream news outlets are blasting out reports that some of the network’s leading stars appear to have knowingly lied about the 2020 election. In blanket coverage that echoes reporting on the invasion of Normandy, they are hammering Fox with one-sided court documents that suggest they deceived their audience by pretending Trump might have won when they knew he had lost. The charge that this episode proves Fox is not a legitimate news outlet is overkill, but if the emails and texts released so far are not just cherry-picked tidbits, the actions of some of its hosts were indefensible.

Judge Kyle Duncan, from the fifth circuit of appeals, was ambushed by associate dean of equity, diversity and inclusion Tirien Steinbach during a discussion Thursday night. Steinbach - a former ACLU lawyer who previously defended free speech - initially claimed Duncan had a right to express his views. But she then launched into an impassioned six minute speech - which she had written down - condemning his life's work.
