A 17-year-old student who continued to viciously beat his high school teacher after he knocked her unconscious for taking his Nintendo Switch will be tried as an adult.
Brendan Depa, 17, will be tried as an adult for the brutal beating of Joan Naydich, 57, at Palm Coast, Florida’s Mantanzas High School.
The vicious and deeply disturbing assault was captured on security camera footage, which shows a student pushing a teacher to the ground and knocking her unconscious before going on to punch and stomp on her as she lies motionless and defenseless. The mother of two was struck at least 15 times in the back of the head. [Video]

FTA: "...Florida’s Seventh District Court has ruled that the six-foot-six, 270 pound student will be held on a $1 million bond and face up to 30 years in prison." He was also arrested for battery three times three years ago. The attack on the teacher's assistant was as vicious as any I ever saw that didn't result in a fatality. This kid is a waste of skin. Put him away in adult prison until he's past 60.

Good. Dispatch him/it soonest. If not, sent him/it down to El Salvador gul lag. I never want to see this kind of behavior in this country ever again. Justice, don't waste time and money with a slap on the wrist 7-day prison term for this one. There, biden you cheater, I said it.

But there is a mental health advocate saying he has mental issues and the teacher never should have taken away his nitendo.

My wife saw this happen at a school where she taught special ed resource, which are where the most disabled special ed kids are taught, or at least tried to be taught.
A very large kid was not happy about something and slammed a teacher's head against the cinder block wall of the school a few times. Teacher was hospitalized and really never got back to normal (partially disabled). School's response was, sorry. Oh, and forget about that disability claim, too. They also didn't do a thing when one of these students forced a non-verbal student to perform a sex act in front of students in the gym or when another would disrobe whenever he felt like it.
Sure some of this is related to their disability. But a lot of it is related to that the kid was never taught right from wrong. And you can learn that with most learning or physical disorders.

Where did these three prior offenses take place? In another district? In another school? in his home?
His family doesn't live in this school district, he was only enrolled in it because he had been moved to a group home in the district.
Who moved him there?
Who is named as Loco Parentis?
How did they get placed in that role?

The movie "The Blind Side" about Michael Oher was a great film, and a unique story.
Was someone attempting something similar here? Was this kid "recruited" for the school football program?
(There is a Catholic school near me that regularly ranks as one of the states top sports schools, they recruit from inner city locales some of their top players, and offer scholarships, the locale is in one of the metroplexes wealthiest enclaves, many of their players go on to stellar college careers...BUT...they also insist upon academic excellence, not just barely passing, for their players. A swimmer from there just set a new national record this week)

Judging from the article that I read & the video that I saw when this incident was first reported, I believe he would have killed her if he had not been restrained. He continued to kick her unconscious body even after he had been restrained from punching her in the head with his fists.
I know nothing about his mental disabilities, but it is obvious that he is too dangerous not to be confined in a mental institution, if not a prison. Hopefully, that will happen before he does kill some innocent person.
He reportedly said, ”I’ll kill you next time.” So, he knows enough to know that his actions could cause death when he viciously attacks someone, & it appears that is what he wanted this time. He understands the consequences of that type of actions. He told the police officers that he didn’t want to go to jail.
I pray that this victim of his violence recovers completely. Too many victims do not.

Still hoping that this animal will get the same treatment in prison and that he remains there for the rest of his life.

If this "special needs student" is so fixated on Nintendo, why is the state even trying to educate him?

Punched her 15 times in the back of the head! Tell me that is not attempted murder!! His lawyer will plea bargain aggravated assault down to simple assault and he'll hit the jackpot if he does even 3 years...

Back then they let kids like this out of school a full hour before the normal kids where let go to walk home, take the bus, get picked up or drive. Now they're free to nearly beat to death and kill teachers. This so-child with mental issues in a grown man's body knew what he did was wrong with his threat to kill the teacher next time. There needs to not be a next time as the book needs to be thrown at him picked up and thrown again. I say put him in a cell for life with a bigger hardcore felon whose mom is a public-school teacher. A few nights of punching, kicking and screaming should suffice.

Why was this creature not imprisoned? His first felony should have given him a 15-year sentence no parole. We have to start identifying these psychopath predators at the start of their careers and keeping them out of society forever.
