Gun Banning and Social Contempt

In attempting to make sense of things, one should always look to the insights of the wise and the experienced. But one should also heed the occasional ill-considered outbursts of loud-mouthed idiots, since these too can be quite enlightening. A ranting partisan sometimes gives the game away by thoughtlessly blurting out the cynical thinking behind their own lousy ideas. Such inadvertent and ill-advised slips make it far easier to emotionally reverse engineer partisan stances that more skilled advocates all too often succeed in dressing up as serious proposals. When Republicans took control of the House of Representatives in 1994,

It is well to remember that those on the left simply project their own foibles, weaknesses, excesses, evil deeds and thoughts on to their perceived "enemies." Thus one can conclude with near absolute certainty the Jerry Rivers a/k/a Geraldo Rivera is a weak, ineffective man with an undersized penis and oversized ego.

FTA: "It is no accident that gun owners tend to be more law abiding than people who do not own guns." A more important statistic is the percentage of people who commit criminal acts. Law enforcement officials are approximately 37 times less likely than ordinary citizens to commit crimes. Citizens with firearm permits are some 260 times less likely to commit crimes than the general citizenry. Even more impressive, permitted citizens who carry guns are seven times less likely than cops themselves to commit crimes. The hoplophobic Geraldo does not grok natural rights, and wishes they would go away. I wish the insipid Geraldo himself would go away. When he appears on FNC, the channel gets changed instantly. Quoting Sgt. Stedenko in Up in Smoke, Jerry Rivers is "a stupid, stupid man." Lose him, Fox. He adds nothing to your lineup.

It is amusing to observe the ignorance of the anti-gun crowd. Show them a 5.56 load vs. a 30-06 or a .50 cal and ask which one is fired by an AR-15.

For the first two years of the Biden administration, democrats controlled the Senate and the House. They had the votes to pass an “assault weapon” ban. And, yes, Manchin would have towed the democrat line. He never saw a gun control bill he did not support. So, why didn’t the dems do it? Maybe astute posters can explain.

Clearly the people who are calling for banning what they stupidly describe as being “assault weapons” really intend to ban all semi-automatic firearms, handguns, rifles, and shotguns, that today comprise a big majority of all the modern firearms that are possessed by law abiding citizens throughout the USA. You can bet your boots that those people are not about to be among the people who would be on the front lines during any future shooting war.

Geraldo is a leftist fool, and nothing that he says is particularly rational or useful. Ignore this guy, and go on with your lives. And AR rifles are popular because they are easy to use, accurate, reliable and endlessly modifiable to suit a particular owner's intended purpose. And, you can assemble one from parts pretty easily, too, and that is attractive to many with the "do it yourself" sort of bent.

I would like to see a very public "list" kept of all the power wielding politicians who strongly favor "gun control" or publicly oppose the Second Amendment of our U.S. Constitution. The Communist Left enjoys keeping "lists" of pro-gun patriots, so lists should also be kept of those who seek to vilify and even imprison gun rights proponents.

My friend and I sometimes argue about media outlets like CNN and MSNBC. Why do they spread misinformation? A. Are they grossly uninformed? B. Do they know the truth but tell falsehoods anyway? C. Do they think we are stupid or naïve? My buddy feels that the media outlets know the truth but lie about it. To me, it is more complicated. The nice-looking journalists who read the teleprompters are genuinely ignorant. On the other hand, the news producers probably know the truth but spread misinformation anyway. Producers are the ones who select the topics, construct the programs, and hire the special analysts. Let’s consider this recent example.

In a heated exchange with Gestapo chief Merrick Garland at a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing Wednesday, Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) directly challenged Garland’s viciously corrupt and politicized “Justice” Department, and zeroed in on the once-respected agency’s targeting of traditionalist Roman Catholics. While Garland maintained, in the teeth of the available evidence, that the department is not actually targeting Catholics, he claimed not to know how many spies and informants the feds have in those hotbeds of terrorism, traditional Catholic

SAN DIEGO — A California panel on Wednesday denied parole for Robert F. Kennedy assassin Sirhan Sirhan, saying the 78-year-old prisoner still lacks insight into what caused him to shoot the senator and presidential candidate in 1968, Sirhan’s lawyer said. That contradicted the decision by a different parole board two years ago when its members found Sirhan to be suitable for release. Gov. Gavin Newson rejected the decision in 2022, keeping him in state prison. Sirhan’s lawyer Angela Berry disputed he lacks insight and argued at Wednesday’s hearing that his psychiatrists have said for decades that he is unlikely to reoffend or be a danger to society.

Old Joe Biden has been in politics for over half a century, and before the onset of his dementia, he could be a fluid and occasionally effective public speaker, although he was never as charming or compelling as he clearly believed himself to be. But as he has aged, the doddering corruptocrat who pretends to be president of the United States has lost whatever ability he ever had to move an audience. Now, more often than not, he tries for an emotional effect and only manages to come off as weird, as with his bizarre habit of whispering points he wants to give particular emphasis.

Fox News’ Peter Doocy pinned down Karine Jean-Pierre on Wednesday, leaving her on the defensive over Joe Biden’s record of softness toward China. In response, Karine Jean-Pierre let it be known that Biden is “brave,” citing media reports as her proof. A proposed Oregon bill would provide the deep blue state’s homeless population $1,000 per month that recipients could use at their own discretion. The bill, introduced last month, would establish a People’s Housing Assistance Fund Demonstration Program to give 12 monthly thousand-dollar payments to those suffering from homelessness or who are on the brink of becoming homeless. “Payments may be used for rent, emergency expenses, food, child care or other goods or services of the participant’s choosing,” the bill states. People who spend more than 50 percent of their monthly household income on rent, and those who earn 60% or less of the area median income would also be eligible for the funding.
