Roald Dahl Goes Woke: Famous Children’s
Author’s Books Heavily Altered by ‘Sensitivity Readers’

The publisher Puffin has scrubbed language deemed “insensitive” and “non-inclusive” from author Roald Dahl’s children’s books, in many cases rewriting the author’s words to be more politically correct. Puffin and the Roald Dahl Story Company worked with Inclusive Minds, which is dedicated to “inclusion and accessibility in children’s literature,” its spokesperson told the Daily Mail, to dilute the creator’s playful narratives to be more acceptable to what they consider contemporary culture. References to characters’ physical appearances have been sanitized, with the words “fat” and “ugly” now missing from every new edition of the books, the Daily Telegraph reported.

One of Roald Dahl's short stories entitled "Lamb to the Slaughter" was made into a classic half hour on Alfred Hitchcock Presents in March 1958. In the story a cop returns home to his pregnant wife (Barbara Bel Geddes) and tells her while facing away from her that he has found another woman, that their marriage is over, and that's all there is to it. Traumatized, the wife says that he just needs some food and goes to the freezer to retrieve some meat. Returning with a leg of frozen lamb, she is insulted one last time by a husband who won't even turn around and look at her, so she clubs him over the head with it and he dies. The rest of the story is delicious, as the leg o' lamb goes into the oven and the police arrive to be served a nice meal of lamb. Bel Geddes laughs maniacally at the end of it all. Where was the murder weapon? Was it right under our noses? as one cop wondered. Hitchcock and Roald Dahl were great. My collection of Dahl's short stories was (thankfully) not bowdlerized.

I was a big reader since childhood. When I had my babies, I bought lots of books because yes, we reread some books but after about the hundredth time, I wanted something new. I have three boxes of children's books I saved. Some of the Little Golden Books have 59cents cost on them. They are $4 or $5 dollars now. So these will remain in their original form and besides, I never bought a book by Dahl anyway. Don't care what he does to them.

Imagine the outrage when they read Hansel & Gretel. The children are abandoned in a dark forest. Then a witch wants to eat the little boy. It does not end well for the witch. It's been a children's favorite bedtime story for centuries.

By this reasoning, the Golden Book of Disney's "Peter and the Wolf," published in the last century would censor the duck being eaten alive by the wolf, and the wolf being caught by Peter yanking the wolf's tail in a painful noose knot. For woke Snowflakes, oh, the humanity.

The Orange County Sheriff's Office said earlier on Twitter that one person was in custody. Biden administration diplomats are trying to block a U.K. plan that would see Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) designated as a terror group, despite the fact that the U.S. took similar steps during the Trump administration. The U.S. State Department, which is currently trying to revive the defunct Iran Nuclear deal, believes that the U.K. can play a key role as interlocutors and fears that role would be undermined by designating the IRGC a terror group, according to a new report from The Telegraph. The move would harden the U.K.’s position against Iran and deal a blow to international talks, supported by the Biden administration,

A top lieutenant of the Proud Boys’ chairman, Enrique Tarrio, described on Wednesday a growing desperation among the group’s leaders as Jan. 6, 2021, approached and then-President Donald Trump’s efforts to overturn the election results sputtered. That’s when the group’s thoughts turned to “all-out revolution,” according to Jeremy Bertino, the Justice Department’s star witness in the seditious conspiracy trial of Tarrio and four other Proud Boys leaders, who are charged with orchestrating a violent attempt to derail the transfer of power from Trump to Joe Biden. Bertino, who pleaded guilty to his own seditious conspiracy charge last year, gave jurors an insider’s view of the Proud Boys’ leadership as Jan. 6

He warned illegal immigrants not to try to cross into the United States through Texas. And he addressed the fact that he is not satisfied with the penalties for smugglers. Smugglers are often recruited through social media postings to drive illegal immigrants to cities that are located hours from the border. “If you’re coming toward the United States of America and you’re thinking about crossing our border, and you’re thinking about making your border crossing into the state of Texas, you’re picking the wrong state to enter into,” the governor said.

The new 153-page proposed regulation, which could affect tens of thousands of people, is the most restrictive of a patchwork of policies put in place by the Biden administration to try and manage the US-Mexico border and is reminiscent of a Trump-era policy. The proposed rule would presume asylum ineligibility and "encourage migrants to avail themselves of lawful, safe, and orderly pathways into the United States, or otherwise to seek asylum or other protection

To reach that goal, the administration said it opened its first lease sale for offshore wind in the Gulf of Mexico. Three lease areas off Texas and Louisiana could support the development of enough wind energy to meet the demands of nearly 1.3 million average households, the White House in a fact sheet.
