Exclusive: The White House explained why it turned down Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine's request for disaster relief this week in the aftermath of a derailment of a train hauling toxic chemicals.
A Biden administration official told Fox News Digital that it has provided extensive assistance to surrounding communities following the chemical release earlier this month in eastern Ohio. However, the official said the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the agency that usually provides relief to communities hit by hurricanes and other natural disasters, isn't best equipped to support the state's current needs.
"The Biden Administration is mobilizing a robust, multi-agency effort to support the people of East Palestine, Ohio. Since February 3,

There’s a lot more to this story than just the uncovering of another Rachel Dolezal. I’m not sure if the subtext was clear to the Intercept, who published this story today, but it’s pretty glaring to me.
Members of the American Friends Service Committee, a prominent Quaker organization known for its progressive values and social justice advocacy in the U.S. and abroad, have raised an alarm about a woman holding a leadership position within the organization who they say has misrepresented her ethnic background for years and who they fear may be working on behalf of groups seeking to undermine their organization.

The Justice Department completed a search Friday of the offices of former Vice President Pence's group, Advancing American Freedom, according to a Pence adviser.
Pence adviser Devin O'Malley told CBS News the Justice Department searched the group's office for several hours and found no new documents with classified markings but did take one binder with approximately three previously redacted documents.
"The vice president has consistently cooperated with appropriate authorities, has been fully transparent and looks forward to the imminent conclusion of this matter," O'Malley said.

CNN chairman Chris Licht said Friday that he was “disappointed” by Don Lemon’s recent comment that 51-year-old Nikki Haley “isn’t in her prime.”
“His remarks were upsetting, unacceptable and unfair to his co-hosts, and ultimately a huge distraction to the great work of this organization,” Licht said during his daily editorial call, according to the New York Times.
Haley announced her 2024 presidential bid this week and suggested politicians over 75 years old should be required to pass mental competency tests.
Amid a discussion of Haley’s comments on Thursday, Lemon suggested Haley herself isn’t in her prime:

Republicans on the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability Committee are kicking off their investigation into the Biden administration's withdrawal from Afghanistan Friday, sending letters requesting information to the White House, Pentagon, State Department, Department of Homeland Security, USAID and the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
This investigation is one Republicans tried to start in August 2021 while they were in the minority, but they say they didn't receive substantive responses. Now in the majority, House Republicans on the committee, led by Rep. James Comer of Kentucky, are giving the various agencies until March 3 to respond. Holding the House majority also gives the GOP subpoena power, although Republicans

The U.S. military said Friday a helicopter raid led by its forces in northeast Syria left senior ISIS leader Hamza al-Homsi dead and four American service members and a working dog wounded.
A U.S. official said the four Americans and the dog were injured when Homsi detonated a suicide vest. The servicemembers are being flown to Landstuhl in Germany. The dog is reported to be in stable condition. The military said in its brief statement that the operation was conducted Thursday night in partnership with the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces, which is allied with the U.S.

Speaker Kevin McCarthy led a delegation of freshman Republican lawmakers to the southern border on Thursday, his first visit since becoming the Speaker of the House. He was accompanied by Reps. Lori Chavez-DeRemer (R-Ore.), Derrick Van Orden (R-Wis.), Jen Kiggans (R-Va.) and Juan Ciscomani (R-Ariz.).
The House lawmakers received a briefing and took an aerial tour of the Tucson, Arizona sector on the U.S.-Mexico border with CBP. The Tucson Sector is one of the busiest in the country in terms of both marijuana seizures and illegal alien apprehensions.
Joe Biden, a person who has only visited the southern border once in his entire life, issued a statement

Thousands of workers at Facebook parent Meta reportedly didn’t get a like from Mark Zuckerberg on their performance reviews — an ominous sign that more layoffs are in the offing. The tech company, which also owns WhatsApp and Instagram, gave some 7,000 employees, or 10% of Meta’s workforce, subpar reviews, the Wall Street Journal reported Friday.
Employees who score low on the key performance metrics often leave the company, sources told the paper. Zuckerberg will consider another round of layoffs if not enough depart, the people said. Last November, Meta culled 11,000 jobs — or roughly 13% of its 87,000 global workforce — from its payroll.

We are going to need a new industry that simply spends its time fact-checking the so-called “fact-checkers.” That’s the story after a new landmark study published in The Lancet offered vindication to everyone who touted natural immunity to COVID-19 as an alternative to vaccination.
For years, the powers that be, including Dr. Anthony Fauci, the White House, and the press, dismissed the idea of taking natural immunity into account when debating vaccine mandates and vaccine passports.
They were wrong, so much so that even the mainstream media are having to admit it.

Forgive me for repeating myself — the Biden administration intended to let the Chinese spy balloon traverse the United States and surveil some of our most secure war-fighting facilities without obstruction or notice. It was only exposed to the public by the efforts of Chase Doak and the Billings Gazette as it crossed Montana. As we reacted with incredulity, the administration woke the president and shot the balloon down off the coast of South Carolina. Secretary of State Antony Blinken intended to meet with his Chinese counterpart that weekend, but was embarrassed into postponing the jamboree in Beijing.

President Joe Biden signed an executive order Thursday aimed at rooting out systemic racism from the federal government and doing more to achieve racial equity.
The order, made in the middle of Black History month, extends an order Biden made on his first day in office requiring federal agencies to investigate inequities within their departments and to proactively address shortcomings. That is now an annual requirement.
The aim is to deliver “equitable outcomes” for all Americans, including underserved communities, through government policies, programs, and services.

A small number of intelligence officials under former President Trump were aware of several suspected Chinese balloons that crossed into U.S. airspace during his time in office, according to The Wall Street Journal.
Despite suspicions among some officials that the high-flying objects were from China, a Pentagon assessment never conclusively linked the balloons to Beijing, and information on the incidents was not shared broadly within the Trump administration, the Journal noted. At least three suspected Chinese surveillance balloons briefly hovered over the U.S. during the Trump administration, in addition to one that occurred earlier in the Biden administration, a senior Pentagon official said earlier this month.
