Power struggle in the Russian armed forces

Original Article

Sergey Surovikin has been removed as head of the Russian armed forces in Ukraine and replaced by Valery Gerasimov. Is there a power struggle raging in Moscow? General Sergey Surovikin was commander-in-chief of the "special military operation," as Russia still officially calls its war of aggression against Ukraine, for just three months. On Thursday, Russian Minister of Defense Sergei Shoigu demoted him to deputy commander. He will now answer to Russia's chief of the general staff, General Valery Gerasimov, who will take over the leadership of Russia's military in Ukraine — nominally, at least.

Russia is in this war for the long haul. Surovikin is an effective combat commander and will now concentrate on fighting the war while Gerasimov will be Putin's man at the top. Unlike the West, and as the first years of World War II showed, numbers of death and combat casualties are not major factors for Russia when it comes to pursuing strategic objectives. It is irrelevant that Surovikin is "reasonably popular with the troops".

The article stated, "Russia still officially calls its war of aggression against Ukraine." It's always obvious when authors of articles have a dog in the fight.

So, some personal changes hands in the military and that’s an indication of a Russian power struggle? Oh, brother.

Re #2....and how is it anything but 100% factual that this is a war of agression against Ukraine? Do you have some way of explaining it as something else?

#5 above. You're on the Biden/media train whose dog is Ukraine that censors info to one side in that fight. What was the cause of the war? You don't know, you only know what you're told, it's all Russian aggression against sweet innocent Ukraine that was doing nothing to separatists.

Martin Luther King Jr. was more than a great pastor and civil rights leader. He had a deep mind of discernment that focused on timeless truths. The holiday in his commemoration is not only the time to celebrate his depth, character, and accomplishments, but it is also an occasion to reflect on the conditioning and brainwashing that characterize today’s leftist identity politics, which seeks to normalize the legitimacy of divisive and demoralizing ideologies King fought against. In contrast, King was all about constructive action directed at racial and social healing through truth, love, and peaceful nonviolent debate and protest.
Biden uses his lawyers to find his classified
docs — to shield from the FBI

The discovery of a fourth set of classified documents, at the Biden residence in Delaware, has further undermined the White House’s virtual mantra that the president “takes classified documents very seriously.” Putting aside the repeated movement of highly classified documents over six years, one curious element has emerged in this scandal: the use of private counsel. Not only did President Joe Biden enlist lawyers to clear out his private Washington office; he then used them — rather than security officers or the FBI — to search for additional classified documents. The initial use of lawyers is notable.

Conservatives on Twitter are up in arms after actor Rob Reiner praised President Biden as a "decent law abiding person" while slamming former President Donald Trump as a "pathologically lying criminal." "The difference between Joe Biden and Donald Trump is: Joe Biden is a decent law abiding person, and Donald Trump is a pathologically lying criminal," Reiner tweeted Sunday. The star, best recognized for his role as Michael "Meathead" Stivic on the popular 1970s sitcom "All in the Family," has a history of criticizing the former president, labeling him as "mentally unstable" and accusing him of "aiding and abetting the enemy" in a December 2018 tweet.

Senate Democrats are preparing to play defense in 2024 as they look to preserve their narrow majority in the upper chamber. The party is defending more than twice as many seats as Republicans, and it’s already facing the possibility that some of its incumbents could retire, leaving open competitive seats. There are also few opportunities for Democrats to go on the offensive. Their best targets appear to be Florida and Texas, but both states have proved elusive for Democrats in recent years. Here are eight Senate seats most likely to flip in 2024:

A third batch of classified documents was found at President Biden's residence in Wilmington, Delaware, the president's attorneys announced Saturday. Special counsel to the president Richard Sauber disclosed in a statement that five additional pages of documents with classified markings were found at Biden's home Thursday evening, making a total of six classified documents retrieved from there. Sauber explained that when Biden's personal attorneys identified one classified document at Biden's home on Wednesday, they "immediately" stopped searching for additional documents because they lacked the security clearances necessary to view those materials.

On "Fox & Friends Weekend" Saturday, Bongino argued the answers given by Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre show how "devastating" this is for the Biden administration. DAN BONGINO: Let's just say about Karine Jean-Pierre. Can we all agree that she's uniquely bad at this? Now, that may be a compliment. Jen Psaki was a very good liar. "Like a car, only better." That slogan for Corvette sold a lot of cars, but, until last week, it was never used with regard to classified documents. President Joe Biden responded to a question Thursday from Fox's Peter Doocy about the disclosure of additional classified documents found in his garage next to his corvette at his home in Delaware. The president responded "My Corvette is in a locked garage, OK? So, it’s not like they’re sitting out on the street." Like his car, it sounded like classified documents are even better to house in a garage. There is no question that Biden's

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy confirmed Thursday that three left-wing Democrats he long said would be booted from their committees, should he be elected to the body's top spot, would in fact not be retaining their posts. According to McCarthy, Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., and Rep. Eric Swalwell, D-Calif., will not be returning to the House Intelligence Committee, while far-left Squad member Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., will not be returning to the House Foreign Affairs Committee. The reasons for their removal go back a number of years and involve a wide range of criticisms Republicans had, until now, been unable to act upon because of Democrats' House majority.

The investigation led by Jordan, R-Ohio, comes one day after Attorney General Merrick Garland appointed a special counsel to examine the matter, former U.S. attorney Robert Hur. The Justice Department escalated it to a special counsel investigation from a mere review Thursday after a second stash of classified documents was found inside the garage of Biden's Wilmington, Delaware, home. The first documents were found inside the Washington, D.C., offices of the Penn Biden Center think tank.

The US and Japan are currently strengthening their military, economic and technological cooperation in response to changes in the geopolitical and security environment in Asia brought on by the rise of China as a military power. Last week, Kishida described the US visit, his first to the country as premier, as "very significant." "We will show to the rest of the world an even stronger Japan-US alliance, which

First, the discovery. Now, the fallout. Revelations that classified documents going back to President Joe Biden’s years as vice president have been found in his private office in Washington and a garage at his home in Wilmington, Delaware, are threatening to become a political – and possible legal – liability for the president. Biden said he was “surprised” to learn of the discovery of the records. He had branded his predecessor, Donald Trump, as "irresponsible" for storing classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida. But Biden’s own handling of classified materials is now under scrutiny given the revelations that documents were stored at his private office and garage.

San Francisco’s reparations committee has proposed paying each Black longtime resident $5 million and granting total debt forgiveness due to the decades of "systematic repression" faced by the local Black community. The San Francisco African American Reparations Advisory Committee, which advises the city on developing a plan for reparations for Black residents, released its draft report last month to address reparations – not for slavery, since California was not technically a slave state, but "to address the public policies explicitly created to subjugate Black people in San Francisco by upholding and expanding the intent and legacy of chattel slavery."

One of the major wins of the McCarthy drama that gripped Congress last week was a pledge from the new Speaker to release all of the January 6 riot footage. Via Newsweek: "Speaking to reporters on Thursday, McCarthy said he intends to make public the thousands of hours of footage from the insurrection—something Republicans have long called for, as part of attempts to exonerate both lawmakers and civilians accused of wrongdoing in connection to the riots. McCarthy said that he would consider releasing all the footage as the 'public should see what happened' that day, rather than rely on the report from the House Select Committee which investigated the attack."

Much of the commentary concerning the presence of classified documents at the Penn Biden Center office and the President’s Delaware home has focused on the delay between the discovery and the public revelation of that discovery. And it is difficult to believe that the timing was apolitical. There is another question about the timing, however, that no one seems to have asked: Why were classified documents that had been in Biden’s possession since 2017 suddenly found less than 90 days after the FBI raid on former President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago compound?
