SoCal Gas, which supplies natural gas throughout Southern California, warned consumers this weekend that their next bills will be unusually large, blaming what it calls unusually cold winter weather across the nation.
In an email to consumers, the company wrote:
There’s no easy way to put this: January bills are likely to be higher than usual. An unprecedented cold snap across the nation in part has caused natural gas market prices in the West to more than double between December and January – much higher than expected. As a result, SoCalGas residential customers can expect the typical January bill likely to be more than double

It is no better here in western Colorado, Xcel Energy warned us before it even got cold that our gas bills would increase and essentially double this winter. That has been the case because Biden the cheater has diverted a good bit of America's natural gas supply to Europe whose supplies were cut off by Putie Poot as his war on Ukraine rages on. On top of that is his suspension of oil & gas exploration drilling.

Here's a hint, it won't work but try it anyway. Take out last year's bill. Compare the use for that period and your current use. If it's the around the same, add 10% for inflation on your current bill and send that amount to the gas company with a note and the name and address of your representative and senator in Congress and tell the gas company to send the remainder of the bill to them.

FTA ... SoCal Gas, which supplies natural gas throughout Southern California, warned consumers this weekend that their next bills will be unusually large ... so they should only pay their cheap solar bills.

My wife mentioned the letter she receive warning of a double or triple of the previous rates.
One more item the Democrats hate since it's a "fossil fuel", even though it's what the United States used in the past 8 years that reduced our CO2 emissions more than any other country.
They are now targeting anything that has any amount of impact on the climate even though the vaunted Paris Accords had a target date of 2100 (77 years from now).
Heard one of the recent wildfires in California burned enough CO2 to eliminate 20 years of any other reductions.
Those wildfires burn because the environmental groups would not allow clearing of the forests of any type or kind for decades. Remember when President Trump commented on that topic? Gov. Newsom has recently mentioned how the State needs to do more to remove such debris and thin the forests more to reduce the intensity of future wildfires.

Hmmm...my latest bill from Piedmont Natural Gas states that as of 12/1/2022, the NC Utilities Commission has approved a rate DECREASE...which almost offsets the notices of rate INCREASE on the previous 2 bills. Huh? 3 bills...2 increase notices and 1 decrease. Wonder what next month will be?
I can't compare this to last year because this is my first year without oil heat. Swapped out the 23 yr old HVAC system for high efficiency AC/heat pumps with high efficiency variable speed gas furnaces (dual zones) that kick in when needed when the temps get to the mid 30s if the heat pumps can't maintain heat settings. So far it looks like at least a 50% savings over my oil bill - not counting the equipment costs.

Gas and electricity bills are skyrocketing for everyone in CA. The reason is Sacramento has a mandate known as the Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006 (AB 32). AB32 required that 50 percent of California’s electricity to be powered by “green energy” aka wind and solar, by 2025 and 60 percent by 2030, ending in 100 percent “carbon free” energy by 2045. So CA energy users are subsidizing green energy that will not feed its needs now or in the future. The state is headed for an energy collapse so get ready to push your electric cars to get around because there'll be no electricity available to power them or your home appliances.

They work day and night to force us all to freeze in the dark.
SoCal dark is the same as anywhere, but the freezing part is a lot warmer than many places.

There's no easy way to put this, but your January gas bill will be more than double ( quadrupled. ) An unprecedented opportunity for SoCalGas to jump on Biden's BS Gravy Train has caused natural gas market prices to be whatever we say they are. We apologize for any inconvenience but hey we just can't pass on this opportunity to get crazy rich while you freeze your ass off. Thanks in advance for your understanding and cooperation. Remember it could always be worse and it probably will be.

Much of the electric in CA is from NG. The local news last night said its official, SDGE now has the highest rates in the country, that's gas and electric. It will now cost as much to charge your car as filling one up at $4/gal.

It has been cold. We have used more gas for heating. Current bill is $140+. Last month $70+. I remember paying a fortune for heating oil in Seattle decades ago. This is seasonal and no big deal.
