The House of Representatives on Monday evening voted 221-210 to repeal funding for 87,000 IRS agents.
The so-called ‘Inflation Reduction Act’ gave $79.6 billion to the IRS over the next 10 years.
The Wall Street Journal said the new army of IRS agents will target the middle and upper-middle class.
According to new analysis, the IRS audits the poor at 5 times the rate of everyone else. The IRS also has a history of targeting conservative groups.
The House approved its first bill on Monday night rescinding funding for the 87,000 IRS agents.

Nice gesture.....but ultimately just feel good stuff. No law will be passed to change the law already passed hiring them, at least until the next cycle of budgets. THEN, no budget can be passed that the House doesn't approve of, so perhaps the Dems will be forced to let a "no new IRS agents' pay" version pass.
In the short run, this is just a PR move. A good thing, but can't get into law without the Senate and WH, and they aren't going to support it now.

Implementing a Flat-Tax and modernizing the process would solve that personnel problem. My son. is a CPA and says they have cases each year in which even IRS Agents have no idea how to interpret tax law changes Congress makes. It's become WAAY to complicated and compounded by the older, more experienced Agents retiring, leaving the younger, affirmative-action hires, typically named, "Keeasha or D'Travon," hired in droves by the Feds, many without any accounting skills, and who in most cases are just occupying a Federal chair for 5-years in order to get the extremely generous, "Student-Loan Forgiveness."

That's a start! Now how about voting to release ALL of the Jan 6th Prisoners. Get them a Lawyer and release them until they can get a FAIR Trial! Most all of them have served all the time needed to say "don't do this again"! Get to work on something IMPORTANT, Congress!!

The House should vote on and pass this bill every single day for the next two years. It will not pass the senate but maybe it will keep those new employees and all of those millions tied up in the senate until 1/25.

Yes, it was just a very nice touchy-feely gesture. But thanks to Mc and Mc and their lack of standing up for us Americans last month, the House's hands are tied and this army of lefty irs thugs will be hired and will start hunting down Americans soon.
Turtle and the 17 rinos who voted for the omnibus bill - if I should get audited for no reason other than I don't vote rino or dims, I'll be thinking of you.
The best we can hope for going forward is for the House to defund the irs during the next budget cycle and hope that Turtle, the senate, and biden the cheater don't notice the line item.

The House and McCarthy must make it clear that not a single dime for Federal spending will get through unless this is accepted by the ( even more ) corrupt Senate. Unfortunately if they had that integrity and courage we won’t be in this mess.

The House has no authority to pass legislation without the Senate. All they can do is stop the Democrats from enacting any new legislation.

If the Senate won’t approve this separate bill, attach it to the next Ukraine needs more of our money bill. Since giving Ukraine more money and weapons is a Biden priority, he won’t want to veto the bill. If this fails, then attach the bill to Biden’s next multi billion spending package to cover medical and welfare benefits for illegals. Since Biden, Dems and RINOs will keep spending money that we don’t have, keep attaching the IRS defunding bill to all requests for money. Finally, since the House reforms supposedly eliminate last minute Omnibus bills, start working on separate budgets for all federal agencies this October.

Cool. Just as useful as the votes to repeal 0bamacare, which is still law. The commie left pushes through carp laws and the RINO right makes useless show votes. Any question why we're in the mess we're in?

Question to the House of Reps. Why are the J6 political prisoners still in jail? Why was Ashley Babbitt's Mom arrested on J6 while protesting her daughter's death and no accountability from the Capitol Police? Ashley's mom has been protesting on Capitol grounds before and no arrest, so why was she arrested that day, January 6, 2023? How would you like to be the mother of a murdered daughter, murdered by a police Lt. who was never arrested or questioned for shooting an unarmed young woman? The Capitol police and Nasty Nancy Pelousy have blood on their hands. We pray Ashley and her family will have justice either in this life or the next. God answers prayers. God never forgets!

McCarthy hatred has created some illogical positions. The haters are now claiming that given the democrat senate, nothing McCarthy can do will make a difference but they were all-in on Trump being named speaker, while not applying the same logic of everything the House passes being DOA, given the dem Senate and the dem in the White House. Did the anti-McCarthy crowd believe that had Trump been named speaker, he would have magically coopted the Senate democrats to vote for his House initiatives, and perhaps override a Biden veto? The same Senate Democrats who voted to remove Trump during his impeachment? Imagine the criticism of the House majority if they adopted the DOA mentality and did nothing.

Of course this will be stopped dead in the Senate and Biden would never sign it, so I hope the NEXT move by the Republicans make is a solid and consistent explanation of WHY these agents are a bad deal, that even with outmoded computers etc. Internal Revenue is asking for only agents to audit returns, ostensibly to corner those rich folk (who have lawyers and accountants and abide by rules CONGRESS decreed, loopholes and all) but since there are not that many "rich" people they inevitably go for those making under $50,000 a year, something they have been consistently doing in the near past. How the Pubbies explain this with the Press as it is (note Biden's very few classified documents locked in his office closet, not reported on until after the primaries, and the whole Penn/Biden encampment largely paid for by the Chinese) is another guess.

This looks good ...but...the senate and White House are still in power to nix this bill...it's one small step for American taxpayers...it's a start of what is possible if the rinos don't kill it...with Romney in the senate and McDonnell leading the republicans it doesn't have a chance...

I have an idea that might actually work...Use the Capitol Police to arrest and detain in the J6 Gulag, all the thugs in the FBLIE and DuhJ.
Make them prove their innocence the same way the DemoNazi's did to the Protestors on J6!

This is a good example of why Kevin McCarthy is not to be trusted.
What happened to his promise that all bills would go through committee ? What happened to his promise that all bills would have 72 hours to be read before voting on them ? This bill came and went so fast I doubt anyone will remember what happened by the end of next week.
The American public needs the committee hearings understand what this bill accomplishes. The American public needs the House floor amendment process, and resulting floor fight, to be educated on what is actually in the bill. None of this happened. Once people understand, I think, the support will be overwhelming. My guess that is about 1 in 100 voters have any idea what the Fair Tax actually is. (Probably higher for readers of Lucianne, but judging on some of the comments, maybe not.)
Unless the R leadership was not really interested in educating the voters. Expect more of this kind of political theater/PR stunt in the future.

Re: #8, #10, et.al.: Precisely what power do you think the House possesses to release prisoners? The executive branch is tasked with enforcing the laws passed by Congress. Congress can rescind a law, but the House cannot unilaterally enact legislation without the Senate passing it as well, especially if they have to override a presidential veto. If every Republican in the Senate agreed, the democrats have a majority in the Senate, so it isn't up to McConnell whether or not a piece of legislation can be passed.
#15 has presented a workable idea, as spending bills must originate in the House.
